(1 John - 17).  Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear." (1-John - 18).     "We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love.  God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them." (1 John 4-16)      "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God: The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous: The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: (Psalms 146: 5 - 8 - 9).      "Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else." Deuteronomy 4-39)      "And as he (the nobleman) was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.  Then inquired he of them the hour when he began to amend.  And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.  So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house." (John 4- 51--53). (Ed. note:  This wasn't the first time Jesus healed from a distance (and the patient dead - totally out of it mentally). This rules out the placebo effect. There is really something going on between the healer and the patient...something out there, in here, all about "the quickening spirit" of Paul...and this spirit is perfect/good/eternal. It is here now as it was in the days of Jesus. And distance is no barrier. And it is always there no matter how much negative material thinking there may be all about. We now enter the world of metaphysics.  The Osage would know exactly what it is..."Wakonda."  Absolutely fascinating).      "But if the spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His spirit that dwelleth in you." (Paul)      "Why art thou cast down, O my soul?       And why art thou disquieted within me?       Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise Him,       Who is the health of my countenance and my God" (Psalms).  "Be not afraid." Said by Jesus of Nazareth (4 times). This was Pope John Paul II's motto...as he reminded in his book: Crossing the Threshold of Hope.             "HUGGING IS HEALTHY:  It helps the body's immune system - it keeps us healthier - it cures depression - it reduces stress - it induces sleep - it's invigorating - it's rejuvenating - it has no unpleasant side effects and hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug - hugging is all natural:  It is organic - naturally sweet - no pesticides - no preservatives - no artifical ingredients and 100 percent wholesome!!!!!!"   Anon  (editor's note:  Hugging is Love - the greatest healing ingredient in the Spiritual Apothecary Shop.  We can talk all day about spiritual healing history and how it works and read libraries full of books about Spiritual healing, but actual practical application of Love says it all - hugging!  Then, the thought comes to mind...why do some humans do such opposite things that cause illness and death...hurt, engage in warfare, kill, hate, think  non-God thoughts, etc.??   Then, an astounding thought presents itself: Using methods of Jesus, one doesn't have to engage in material methods to heal...but can use spiritual hugging methods, and it works just as well, in fact, even better! One can spiritually hug themselves or others!!).                                                                     - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -           INTRODUCTION:  SPIRITUAL HEALING STUDIES ....A GREAT ADVENTURE.  What a personal adventure, a humbling awesome experience trying to understand spiritual healing better and the long story of biblical healing over the centuries...and with many side issues.  Spiritual Healing is all about the greatest of all miracle drugs God-Love.  The possibilities are enormous.  knowledge of the subject would save the country billions of dollars and make citizens much more healthy.  And since social problems can be healed as well by this method, the people problems would improve greatly also.         Positive thinking is great and is a wonderful healer; the placebo effect shows this.  Spiritual healing involves positive thinking-healing, but there is much much more involved.  Jesus healed people who were unconcious and even dead - totally out of it!  And sometimes from a distance! Placebo must be ruled out. Something revolutionary is going on - in the Ultimate Dimension!  We have to explore the world of metaphysics - beyond physics.  Paul the Apostle called it "the quickening spirit," which is really God. And another Apostle John called God "Love."  This is the ultimate dimension. The inspired figures in the Bible tell about this. So, in these writings we have much to explore and help us in our quest. The biblical archaeologists learn much that illucidates the writings. The American archaeologists like to utilize the study of Man Anthropology.  There are many other subjects that help as well - language, psychology, biology, ethnology, Theology  and many more.         By the way, the evidence is clear that going to Church is very healthy. It is good to make contact with the true spiritual/loving/perfect God....instead of the many, phony, materialistic, false Gods one encounters daily.          I want to advise at the beginning of our excavation, that anyone who wants to use spiritual healing to heal some illness, that they must know what they are doing.  It takes some study and understanding.  One can always avail themselves of  others to help who know what they are doing.  Still, since your writer doesn't know how proficient people are, I can't recommend.  I do hope that the following findings will interest people in exploring the subject themselves, but, still, they are on their own.  It is all quite a learning experience and as in traditional medical healing, learning goes on all one's life.  I personally find it all of much help.         I have found that the student will have to probably break down a number of barriers.  It is remarkable how many old wives' tales there are in the way.  Underlying all the problems is fear and, too, lack of understanding.  Fortunately, any of the problems can be healed using the methodology of Jesus of Nazareth.  And Moses long before offers much help also.  He healed his people in many ways...and had to deal with many non-spiritual, non-God things as well such as belief in the God Baal.  Moses did much ground work, but Jesus put it all together.           I will tell you at the beginning that how Jesus healed has already been discovered by some great scholarly work, and obviously this is a milestone event in Theology and the history of humanity  - a truly wonderful biblical archaeological find - I would have to say the greatest. What is a greater find than  learning how to heal Mankind's miseries using methodology as practiced by Jesus of Nazareth, not just physical ails but social ails as well?  The discovery was made a little over one-hundred years ago and by a woman. Her name was Mary Baker Eddy. And her findings, based squarely on the bible, have been proven scientifically in the Theological-anthropological lab. She pointed out, and I am paraphrasing,  that Jesus didn't get down an itemized account of how he healed. Eddy with knowledge of the Bible and prayer had to reconstruct all that went on with the healing works of Jesus and many other connections in the Bible. She put it all together, a scholarly gift for humankind, then, went about proving her discoveries scientifically. To help explain her findings she presented what she called: "The Laws of God". Put these Laws to work and it results in healing. She termed it all a "discovery" and it is. She called this work: "Christian Science." But she pointed out that Jesus was the first discoverer...the first Christian Scientist. She gives Him all credit. See her classic research report and analysis of the Bible: Science & Health With Key to the Scripture, pp. 380 - 381.          What helpful tools for the biblical/archaeological researcher! It is fascinating to reconstruct the healing methodology of Jesus.  For example, Eddy found The Laws of God render the laws of  "matter and the body...null and void." This work is far greater than Champolian's cracking of the Egyptian glyphs or the finding of the Dead Sea Scrolls, or King Tut's Tomb.  And there is another story in this scholarly research.  All the while trying to get her healing scholarship out there she had to battle, using spiritual methods she herself had excavated in the bible,  critics that didn't examine things in detail or just took this or that out of context (the Bible and research is a big painting) or just plain wanted to invalidate her and her research. And, she didn't even have the vote!  How could a mere woman, a supposed wall ornament and drudge,  be this sharp in God and Theology? How could a woman have a vocabulary up there next to Dickens and Shakespeare? Why is she getting out of her place? How could a woman advance the cause of women and men too?  What's all this talk about healing problems as did Jesus? A female "spiritual" Aristotle? Our heads are spinning! Ouch, we are having to think, groan. We are melting down! She must be invalidated!     Nevertheless, she knew that God/good is the Truth and the healing answer (sticking to the spiritual trail as the hounddog on the hunt),  and her students and others who had been healed of cancers and other illnesses and social problems, using this great understanding of the bible,  were so thankful that they began congregating.  She emphatically told them not to give her any attention but to give all credit to Jesus the first discoverer and the bible; it all works together as a fine Swiss watch. So, the invalidation technique of calling it all a "cult" was shot down in flames by she herself.  This church (smaller groups were/are called: "societies,") grew fast and worldwide. Something of special interest are the Tenents or Rules of the Church. These rules are right on with the Bible, God and Jesus and cover all the points...99% as required by most churches. This has to be or one can't heal as did Jesus.      And something else here that is of gigantic importance, is that this healing methodology so used by Jesus and re-discovered by Eddy, scientifically proves that there is truly a God. It works. It worked for Jesus and works today. This is devastating for the humanist/atheist/Man/material devotees and their pseudo-religion...trying mightily to invalidate God and operating since the 1700s but really getting organized 80 years ago, led by the educational guru John Dewey, Charles Breasted archaeologist of the Oriental Inst., Chicago and others...with their own church tenants "Humanist Manifesto I" (later there would be a No. 2)..  The results of this Man/material religion (with their symbol Prometheus the Greek god of mythology), and invalidation of God-thinking in schools and elsewhere - society in general - have been disastrous; just look around.  If in our anthropological/archaeological lab we could put a white lab coat on Zinjanthropus and give him or her a stethoscope to listen to the chests of a very sick material Man/materialism-as-god society, even he or she could diagnose the disease.  It all gets back to the false material gods that Moses and Joshua had to battle, the golden calf, and pole stuck in the ground (phallic symbol). It's all incredibly strange for an archaeologist to have to watch Baal worhip all over again after three-thousand years!  Talk about slow learners!  Someone has put grease on the rungs of civilization, and we all know who that someone is!  He has horns and a tail!  The Evil One keeps telling poor Man and Woman to put grease on the rungs of civilization, and he and she slavishly obeys!  Strange!      It is amazing though what can happen when one switches their devotion from the material to the all-encompasing God-Spiritual.    I believe that one of the most dramatic, if not THE most dramatic moments in history, is when Eddy had gotten her research together and could see that everything was really and truly perfect spirit, and she was finally ready to try out her findings on a sick person (s); this all had to be proven scientifically.  It had to have been a very exciting moment....right up there with Thomas Edison finally flipping the switch getting the light bulb to work after much research and thinking. There are similarities here...one light with a little l...and another Light with a capital L.  Eddy could see right before her that it had to be...the spritual "Light" was All-powerful....Jesus and others in the Scriptures before,  drove this home time and time again. Of course, Jesus was the world's greatest student of the Scriptures even when a little boy and knew of what He spoke, and besides He was gifted, annointed from the beginning.    And if the spiritual was All-powerful and the truly real perfect eternal entitity as He and the bible pointed out, then, the material was unreal...not the most important thing...but would fall into line if the spiritual was in line.    Sounds impossible perhaps to mortals constantly focused on the material as the real and only thing and given "god like" "qualities."  Man had gotten the cart before the horse!!! But Jesus had gotten the horse out front where he belonged!       But there she was with the evidence right before her, right there in the bible. She had to have been excited...she knew it to be Truth.  So, here comes the patient.  She could convey this Truth to the patient with prayer (she wrote an entire chapter on prayer in her S&H...if anyone wants to fine tune their praying, here's the place). And she could convey Truth with God-Loving actions and thoughts. And she had to rid herself, with help of Jesus, from all the negative blockages, hate, jealousy, non-Love, semi-faith and more..."sin" which Jesus always vaporized.   She was coming at the situation full force with God Love and a clean, personal,  Spiritual slate. She could really pour on the Love as did Jesus. And It just had to be, that once she got the patient to believing that perfect God Spirit was the true all power and that the material ailment - no matter what it was - had no power and was truly nothing, merely a wrong belief, the patient would be healed instantly. It was a total switch from usual thinking. Radical spiritual surgery! Yet, it worked! The proof is in the pudding!  And, she could also do as Jesus, get through to someone who was asleep...knowing the Truth and setting the patient free. While the mind, positive thinking, the placebo are wonderful at healing, there was, still, something beyond! She now knew the perfect Godly/Spiritual scene. Also to reinforce this approach, she knew as Jesus had pointed out that the Evil One "was the father of all lies." He was  - and is - the con man salesman of all time.  What the Evil One would always convey were negative "beliefs" (illness is powerful, can't do this or that, doom and gloom, a futile life, "dieing Egypt dieing" as my Grandmother used to joke....don't help the neighbor, look out for No. 1, Love is stupid, and for wimps, religion is campfire stuff for primitives, Man is the true god,  me me me, money, money, money, etc., etc. )  Eddy pointed out the dumb Liar factor in S&H With Key to the Scriptures (I added examples). So, obviously, the patient had picked up such false beliefs  from a material worshipping society.  This or that "can't" be healed and the list of human material negatives goes on and on ad infinitum. Here was another one of her great keys.  Jesus, the greatest healer of all time, was right on.  What great revolutionary thinking, although all right there in the Bible all the time!       But back to the patient. And, armed with "Christian Science" as she termed her biblical research.  Would it work? She obviously believed it would work.  It was right there, theological logic - purely biblical. It was exactly what Jesus did, and He said to "go and do likewise...heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead." So she applied it.  The patient got it! All the spiritual jig-saw pieces fell into place and a beautiful picture of Godly, health - already there! - appeared!! . The patient was healed!  Or rather the Truth revealed; it was there all the time! The complete switch in usual Man-thinking worked!! More patients were healed. Those healed reached into the thousands and such healings are still going on globally.         Eddy's milestone work on our subject of interest, the story of spiritual healing, is a great beacon, a solid foothold,  for us in our archaeological excavations. And she was really the first such spiritual archaeologist, because all along she wanted to find out about that "early primitive church," with all of its healing. She had been healed from near death by a bible passage and wanted to find out what was going on.  In so doing, she cut through the "overburden" of the ages as the archaeologists put it.  One of her discoveries, and right there in the bible between everyone's eyes for two-thousand years and to reiterate is that everything is Spiritual and that spiritual is good and well. Man is spiritual, created in God's (spiritual) likeness (see: Genesis). This is one of the great keys to spiritual healing. By the way, don't let anyone invalidate Genesis (or any other book in the bible)  for Heavens sake; it's all full of healing, the greatest healing text of all.  Invalidating this treasure would be the crime of the century. It is also the greatest archaeological/anthropological find of all time...and one can find one at the garage sale "dig" for 50 cents....maybe 25 cents!        All this and much much more great good backed up by the bible can be checked out in Eddy's classic research report Science and Health With Key to the Scripture.  You might also be interested in the two-vol. Peele biography.  There are many others; I could do a research report on the ones that I have read. They are packed with facts, but one wants to make sure they encompass the spiritual teachings. . God Love shines through her many writings and is very healing.  S&H in particular is a companion to the bible and explains God and the Scriptures and Jesus' healing mission better than anything I know.  Adam Clarke "the prince of commentators" explained the Scriptures in his voluminous works - line for line - back in the early 1800s, and there are libraries full of books on the bible, but none as helpful as S&H.  So, the bible and S&H are my two biggest helps in reconstructing the healing days of Jesus. They are stepping stones for the archaeologist.   Hopefully, I, or anyone who wants to help, can add a little historical color here and there.  The excavation is slow as all excavations, but the jigsaw picture is beginning to come together.       Another great healing method is music as all Sunday School people know. This was well recognized by Eddy. In fact, she wrote some healing hymns herself. And each one of the hymns in the C.S. Hymnal is carefully designed for healing. Martin Luther knew the great importance of music.  Many people today read Eddy's hymns and are healed - by just the words alone, and, of course, everyone knows the healing effect of music....music being harmony....which is what God is. Even plants thrive on hormonious music. Has anyone tried playing the healing hymns of CS to plants? Or the hymns of Martin Luther's day or any hymns for that matter...or modern Gospel music? And of these, which works the best? Maybe plants as humans need a variety of healing music, good vibes? By the way, this music need, proves the universality of good God Spirit. It is there; we need to get right with it constantly.      Then, the question arises....what kind of music did they have in the days of Jesus? I know they had flutes...played at funerals...a kind of dirge music. Of course, Jesus just walked through that, and into a house where a dead girl was lying...and healed her. David, long before Jesus, played a harp. That had to be very pleasant. Playing the harp must have freed David to create some of the greatest poetry/hymns of all time. And, the words of Jesus were harmonious, and we know they were healing.  And, too,  I bet His voice had great tonal qualities. Then, of course, Jesus and His followers had natural music about them as they hiked through the countryside. This is an important field...healing music and sound in days of Jesus.  And Spiritual or ear-shattering sound - music, lawn-mowers, shouting bobble heads on TV, traffic, etc., in our modern day can't be healing!   There is always this conflict between spiritual and material.  Ease vs. Disease (Eddy pointed this out).            My own searching - trying to understand the whole picture - looking at many different religions and the reading of many books and examining the progress of spiritual healing down through the milennia - the history - has been quite an adventure for me...and it is still going on. I have grown much in spiritual thinking, but I have a long way to go too.  Probably much of my explorations are irrelevent and endlessly material, which gets away from the all important spiritual, but it is an explore thing that archaeologists like to do. And anthropologists like to dissect culture...and I find myself gratefully in both fields. And, of course, I always hoped, as all archaeologists, that I would find a special goodie. I have found some interesting artifacts.  Then, I did make THE find, "how Jesus healed" cited above, and found by many others. As Eddy points out Jesus was the first discoverer.  It is remarkable how I stumbled, fought, regressed, dropped the ball, picked it up again after torturous thinking, battling many dumb old wives tales and tons of material thinking (a very thick layer of "overburden" as archaeologists refer to what they have to excavate through to get down to the productive levels),  and have gotten this far.      And, another major "material" hurdle, is constantly having to climb over the ivy walls of  universities and colleges that have become seminaries of materialism where a material Darwin is worshipped devoutly, as well as humanism/atheism  now saturating our society that worships Man devoutly, another material pseudo-god, is not easy from which to break loose mentally if you don't have the spiritual tools of Jesus mentioned above. Actually, then, it is easy to separate the two.  Without Jesus and what we know about Him, It is like working oneself through a mine field at night and barbed wire, crawling on one's stomach in the military and like blind Saul on the road to Damascus, then, suddenly breaking through to the open field and daylight.   When one discovers God and His all power,  a constant spiritual presence, ("Light" as Jesus pointed out over and over) which neutralizes all bad, roadblocks that evil constantly throws in the way, there is a great positive awakening.  I must give thanks to God for helping me out. Without question, this is all  the most helpful adventure  I have ever experienced.               I have asked questions such as why is there such a block(s) by many as to learning about all this wonderful help?  Then, I inadvertently got myself into the side studies of why is church attendance declining in many faiths?  What are the factors at play? First and foremost and very simply actually...is society's dwelling on too much materiality as opposed to the all important healing spiritually the real true presence? Yes!  One can't see the spiritual, but it is the most important. Humans are really spiritual beings...and this is what they crave...need!!!  However, one sees results. Jesus focused on spirituality - the good, loving, healing, perfect God and God creation. By knowing this he healed every affliction brought before Him.              There are many more blocks as to attendance of churches, and also healing....the new candidate has a natural aversion to all the dwelling on fearful thinking, dwelling on all the misery of life - the devilish hole in the doughnut, wallering in the many septic tanks of life,  rather than going the good, God, Spiritual approach, which is there for the taking - free - and heals now. The good God picture is what people should go for, but invariably go for the bad picture.  Many churchs fall in this septic tank thinking.  The candidate needs practical help now but not from the septic tank.  But when faced with spiritual help, many reply "I have to live in the real world." This spiritual stuff is ridiculous.  However, the question is, "what is the real world?" Jesus proved that it is the spiritual world that is the real...and everlasting too...Life, Light, Love, Truth. This is the ultimate perfect medicine, and available right now and free.   Jesus utilized the spiritual methodology and healed every case brought before him. And, fortunately, He is still healing today.  If one needs a big lift, a wonderful boost in the present crisenflop, or whatever, this is it.... helpful answers are available right now.      I should mention that those who believe in Jesus of Nazareth also have to live in the real world, however, they know how to neutralize the bad material using methods of the greatest physician of Life. This is all the neatest invention since light bread...in this case  "the Bread of Life."   Then, another negative turn off involves dull church "crypts" of non-thinking, the worship of Morpheus the god of sleep, and, then, a general  worship of materialism as opposed  to the Holy Spirit, which is alive and exciting. Spiritual thinking takes some input...but it is good input...every bit of the way.   The onlooker, church-hopper wonders in confusion, which is the right church...then, totally frustrated,  just quits.. The right healing-of-the problem  is obvious and logical.... go with the most spiritual church. God/Spirit is right and heals. God is what it is all about. God-Spirit isn't confused a bit.      I have run into so much hate church stuff, just pure hate. And there are countless writers catering to this hate...writing only one side, and not giving the other church a chance to answer.  To give one example, I have found unbelievable hate of the Catholic Church.  Yet, which of the haters come anywhere near doing what the late John Paul II did in trying heroically to bring churches together. Whenever he visited the U.S. (seven trips) he always invited different church leaders to come to Washington, D.C. for meetings to find out how to get together. This was one of his main missions. So, who is the most loving (what Jesus wanted)?  And God is Love. And God/Love is what heals.  One must get past hate and fear, major roadblocks to healing.      Then, there is a gigantic lack of knowledge of how much wonderful help and healing is going on right now all around the world with spiritual healing...and verified testimonials of healings (libraries full). You never hear about all this wonderful help on the news...healings with no side effects, easily available info. on the subject, complete and not half-way healing.  All you hear about is material medical this and that and a world of disease....psychological useage on TV pharmaceutical ads of the Freudean fear of death theory supposedly deep in the psychic utilized to the hilt. The true thing deep in the psychic is God spirit. God created it in His image and it is good. The Freudian theory of fear, supposedly embedded in the psychic,  used in pharmiceutical adds is diabolical.   When one finally compares the unlimited, loving, healing, world of the spirit that has created man in His good spiritual image, side by side with the bad material, it is no contest which is the most powerful and real...and this can be proven...and has been proven.  And, who made the surgeon's steel scalpel, and there is ultimate anatomy; who made it and who's perfect image is in each and every cell of the body? This is beyond even the physicist's material quarks and now they are on the trail of an even smaller particle. They are deeply into quantum physics dealing with a universal energy given off by objects, yet, this is still material. They haven't got to the spiritual realm  yet, (and never will looking for something material) as they are locked in the material, but I am waiting although not holding my breath!. I believe the quantum physicists are dabbling with it, but still have a long way to go. I suggest they have a crash course in the bible  and metaphysics.  The Greeks spotted it and termed it "beyond physics" (metaphysics). The proof is all there. Jesus proved it is there by using God methodology and it works...and works today!  And there are probably more examples. Why don't researchers examine the scientific evidence?  Researchers on a Fox Hunt have, as young Fox Hounds, gotten off on the rabbit trail.  Getting on the right trail would save gillions of dollars not to mention much misery.        Traditional medicine helps greatly, doing wondrous things, but it has become a pseudo-religion, a material religion at that for many.   This is why Moses and God made the very first Commandment (of the 10)..."Thou shall have no other Gods before me."  (Mary Baker Eddy was very fond of this Commandment in her healing bible "excavations." (still another healing discovery).  And also why Jesus said: "pay no attention to what you eat or drink, but seek ye first the Kingdom of God" (the spiritual). Don't worship some root from southern Tasmania but worship God.  And, this is why some of the best physicians are spiritually oriented. A patient with this type of traditional healer, who knows about God, and puts God first, is not beaten if the patient runs out of so-called options. At this point, physicians with no knowledge of God, give up, and most patients give up too. They have no conception of what they are missing.  However the physician with knowledge of God is just getting started. He and his patient have unlimited God on their side...the God who created the universe and keeps the planets spinning. God doesn't have "options." He knows exactly what He is doing and it is good/perfect. Now we are talking ultimate power! This is the greatest of all healers. In fact, God has  already taken care of the problem right now, waiting for the patient to know this. After all, He created everything good, and He certainly didn't create bad. So, what is bad? A hint. If one keeps chasing the nature of bad, he or she will end up with a shifty salesman with an empty brief case!         MEDICAL  DRS, AND OTHER HEALERS FROM CHIROPRACTORS TO VITAMIN SPECIALIST CAN BE HELPED GREATLY BY SPIRITUAL HEALING KNOW HOW. Yes, I know, the MD. or other healer spends years studying and going thru Internship, Residency and even more specialty work, and here some guy up to his chin in old, dusty, cobwebby biblical archaeological/theological/anthropological books, journals and newletters wants them to add another field of study.  Groan!  Yes, but bear with me. I will bet a cigar box of pot sherds, broken flint arrow points and three Venitian trade beads, that if the traditional medical person will get into this - even just a little bit, although you probably won't be able to quit, once you explore, it will all help your healing practice or research immensely.  It will help not only the patient but the healer him or herself!  All are spiritual entities, and understanding the true spiritual picture of Life/life has got to help.        Being a traditional medical healer is not easy, there are all kinds of, guilt, frustrations (material frustrations - God isn't frustrated }.  What a mental relief to have the Dean of all the Healers God and His prize student Jesus, on one's side!  Fabulous!  What a great help in many ways.  Ex. If the Dr. and patient hit the material brick wall and nothing more can be done in a material way, then, Jesus is just getting started.  God is not limited in any way...and as mentioned many times, Man and Woman and Child are His perfect reflection!  So, go after the true, the spiritual.  So, this is why the healer has to have that extra study, really, their greatest field, as the Spirit is "All and All."  The healing spiritual literature is full of great testimonies of all kinds. I would have a stack of these testimonies handy. And, the patient needs to know all this also. I am just touching the surface here, but I am positive that spiritual healing knowhow can help the traditional healer in many ways.  And, don't forget, God is Love, and all the spiritual healers know that this is what really heals. If one knows nothing else about spiritual healing, just keep this fact in mind.  Always reach for the apothecary jar of God/Love first. It is glowing with super beyond hydrogen power!           Here is one more example as to a blockage of Spiritual healing and other much needed Sunday School things.  One of the major things in the USA that needs healing is the drug problem.  Spiritual healing is great for the problem.  Just think, healing this problem would dry up the drug cartells in Mexico, Columbia, and even here and other places as well.  Think of all the misery - the non-God-material agony - the devil's con work that could be delt with perfectly.  There's the answer...and cheap!!!  But, why isn't Washington using this tremendous superior weapon?  First of all they don't even know about it. And I suspect that many of the moguls hold stock in drug companies and the pharmaceutical companies have a tremendous lobby hold on Washington. They and others are actually ruling the country. Definitely not democracy!  Also,  Washington has been conned by the humanist/atheist movement - the pseudo-religion, a material religion of Man (Man can do everything and doesn't need a God who is "non-existant" anyway)...and their interpretation of the Constitution is not the interpretation of our Founders who hated organized church - causing one disaster after another in Eugope.....but Founders who were devoted to the great being God, and wished our country to be under this. It's really a battle over religions. They believe in Atheism  -with Man the saviour - with great religious devotion, and hope people won't discover the true God of Moses, Jesus and all the rest.     The tremendous power of the true God was and is just tossed in the dumpster.  Of course, the citizenry who should be the bosses, were conned also.  It is truly a shame, the great proven, spiritual wisdom tossed in the dumpster. Weird!  It is all one of the dumbest things that humanity has ever done.      The mighty Osage Indians were smarter than this.  They dearly loved the Great Spirit who they called "Wakonda."  They worshipped Him three times a day with outpouring of emotion.  But look. They were the most healthy Native Americans I have ever come across - many seven feet tall - and very few other tribes would dare "throw sand in their faces."  They ruled a vast area here in the midwest U.S. with an iron hand.  And they were the only Indians I know who fended off the whisky of the White Man.  They looked upon themselves as being so good in the first place that they didn't need anything to make them good.  They had a tremendous, positive, mental attitude.                                                                   - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -   ISLANDS OFF ASIAN MAINLAND CLAIMED BY BOTH CHINA AND OTHER COUNTRIES; A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE NEED FOR SPIRITUAL HEALING.  There is really an easy solution to this problem if both claimants will look to spiritual healing for the answer.  The fact is that neither side owns the islands.  It is God who owns the islands, every rock, earth particle and the vegetation. As such, each claimant must seek a Godly, spiritual approach.  The answers are are there in the Scriptures.  The seeking must be done in prayer, and the correct answer will come. But those who pray must discern that the answer is that of God and not what they want. It may take several tries. A great writing on the subject explaining everything is "Possession" by Adam Dickey written back in 1012.  This provides the spiritual answer for all property problems, personal and with countries.  The Israeli/Palestinian problem is answered with the Scriptures right under their noses.  Again, see: "Possession."         MARRIAGE PROBLEMS SOLVED.  Think of all the arguments, fights, world war IIIs going on all over the world...over money, who should wash dishes, empty trash, go to store, etc., etc. Again, these are all material things, and none of the items fought over belong to either the husband or wife...but to God.  God is waiting for them to realize this and commence operating in His perfect harmonious right way. So, they need to relax; the answers are all there. It takes some input, prayer, study and devotion, but it is all there.  They are trying to be little godlets, but it isn't working, naturally.      ARCHAEOLOGY AND THE STUDY OF SPIRITUAL HEALING.  I get into this more later on, but right now, some comments.  The archaeologist excavates down through what he or she calls "the overburden," the debris of the ages to get to the habitation levels and various artifacts and other clues to piece together the story of its culture.  What your writer is trying to do is get down through the tangled mess of the "debris of the ages" and study Jesus and His followers and their time and culture and in this case especially how they healed.  We are getting our direction and inspiration on this modus operandi from someone who has already taken on this biblical archaeological task, and discovered wondrous archaeological/theological things.  Again, it was a woman, Mary Baker Eddy. She wanted to cut through the levels and get back to what she termed the "first primitive Christian church."  This is great, because the debris of the ages is full of cultural theology, doctrines, human thinking, ancient religious ideas and all kinds of blockages to Truth literally.         This debris reminds me of what Scandinavian archaeologists call "the kitchen midden," the pile of mixed up refuse the ancients just pitched out in front of themselves...bones, broken points and other artifacts, garbage, etc., etc. We find these piles here in southwest Missouri, in front of low rock or bluff-shelters, semi-caves with overhangs.  Sometimes to add the the mess is what geologists call "talus" material falling down on the pile from the bluff above, dirt, rocks, etc.  And, still more headaches for the archaeologist are tree roots meandering here and there as well as rodent holes, where the critters have dragged material either up or down or sidways. Quite a challege for the archaeologists.        So, in biblical archaeology we have theological kitchen middens.  But how great to finally get to that cultural level we want!  How refreshing!  How helpful!  It is downright exciting!  Archaeologists who have fought kitchen middens appreciate more than anyone.         And, one of the missions of archaeology is to finally study the cultural level and then hit "sterile soil." One can't go any farther.  However, we must be careful here.  Frank Hibben of New Mexico thought he had hit sterile soil in Sandia Cave when he struck a calcined level.  However on a hunch he broke through this hard level and reached a wonderful cultural/animal level.  So, if someone hits a study blockage - a calcined layer - don't quit. The answer may be on the next page, or just wait a while, then, return. I would bet that the student is on the verge of a great archaeological discovery.        Eddy brilliantly just by-passed the fouled-up, theological, kitchen midden of the ages...and went  strait to the first church of Jesus and His followers.                                                                  - - - - - - - - - - - - - -                                                                           A HEALING PRAYER POSITIVE THINKING, YES!  100%. A TREMENDOUS HEALING METHOD...BUT THAT'S NOT ALL IN SPIRITUAL HEALING...WE MUST GO UP TO ANOTHER LEVEL BEYOND THE MATERIAL...ON TO THE SPIRITUAL.   Help us focus our minds, eyes and actions  squarely and unmoving on perfect health..and know the super power of the mind for healing as studied and proven by medical researchers.  Also, knowing as they have proven also that those interested in Sunday School things have a great healing, spiritual medicine, advantage therein.  We will also focus on the perfect spiritual Man, Woman and Child created by the perfect spiritual God (in His Spiritual image...the true human). By positive God-thinking we will tap into the greatest reservoir of healing - God Spirit.        Even the ancients knew of the power of the mind for healing as found in testimonial stories of healing miracles carved in stone stele near the healing temples of Asklepios, "the Asklepions" of ancient Greece. Moreover, the Greeks had the great powerful character HOPE, the last one out of Pandora's Box of evils. Hope is still present, always on the job and a great healer.       Also, Native American shamans and other shamans well knew the power of the mind in healing...as many other religions around the world. But beyond the material mind-methods they also knew The Great Spirit was...and is...ALL powerful.       And, most importantly, The Holy Scriptures of the Judaeo-Christian faiths are one big healing book...with healing methodology culminating and all pulled together by Jesus the revolutionary theologian.  Use of this methodology provides a perfect approach and triggers the Great perfect source of everything in our favor.  Here is ultimate Hope; healing.   Moses healed and mostly what Jesus of Nazareth accomplished every day for three years was healing.  He used Godly methodology, thus proving there is a God...truly the most awesome revelation in the history of Man.  And sometimes He healed patients when they were asleep (even "in death"), proving that there was (is) more to  healing than material things of the mind (many researchers call "the placebo effect). Yes, there is even more than positive thinking to heal.  And, so, we go a crucial, healing step farther in Christianity,  and we enter the amazing world of what the Apostle Paul identified as "the quickening spirit." And we know that this world - The Ultimate Dimension" is defined by the Apostle John as "Love." (only one of the adjectives). Here we have the Number One pharmaceutical in the medicine cabinet, on the pharmacist's shelf, in the Dr's bag, equipment in the Dr's office or clinic or hospital...or the minister's great arsenal of help. It is not that they are being loving at the hospital or clinic and getting good results, and they are - but they are using God tools (we hope) to activate the Spiritual being in the ultimate spiritual dimension. This ratchets up their healing possibilities - they are using a Rolls Royce of healing now.  Again, there is more to it than the material human thinking "placebo effect.," or positive thinking.  The so-called "placebo effect" should really be termed the mind- triggering -the- spiritual -power -source...or the mttsps effect. This is quite an awakening and finding out that the Spiritual Power is always present and showering down on all of us, and we are always in God's loving hands, but needs to be realized and activated in the big clinic of humanity everywhere we are.  And we in turn are told to love others "as we love ourselves." That's one of the Truths that helps heal.  This Love - the big healing umbrella - heals all types of problems - even social and political problems. Free! (I hate to tell corporate America, the medical profession, pharmaceutical companies, government (another pseudo-god), the publishing world, TV shows and other media that depend so on the material world...and heals with no side effects!  It is the healing spirit!  "The Truth." The greatest gift for humanity! Jesus explained all about It. So, we keep our minds and eyes on this ultimate, positive, healing picture, actually present right now!  And, into the dumpster (Pandora's Box..some say it was a jar) goes any negative  thinking...and toss in the Evil One also, the villian who is against any God-thinking...and whom Jesus exposed "as the father of all lies." Jesus was tempted by him many times in the wilderness.  Slam the lid shut and lock it. The evil one promted Pandora to open it in the first place...as he prompted Eve to pick the apple in the Garden of Eden...all of which Jesus later corrected in the New Testament. Now, healing good - always there in the first place - appears!  And in so doing we also thank God for this healing gift (no matter what the problem) for all the true,  good, positive, health as revealed by His Son, Jesus of Nazareth.     Lots of Love,  RM. (entered May 18th, 2011).                                            - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -  HEALING THE ECONOMY.  A good example of Spiritual healing.  We think we own the house, furniture and everything else, and we take on worrisome responsibility and feel as leaves in the wind, but it is God who owns it and is taking care of everything if we will only let Him and follow His directions and do what He says. And His best student said "My yoke is light."  Wall Street and banks become pseudo-gods. They are only dealing with material "checkers" on the world globe. It is really God "Yahweh" "Jehova", "Wakonda" who owns the checkers, the companies and commodities being shuffled around. And even the electronic board they worship. That is part of the problem...worshipping the wrong god(s). Moses went through this with his people who worshipped the material golden calf and a phalic post stuck in the ground. And our people in Washington D.C. are in a material quagmire, completely stymied worshipping political party material agendas (pseudo-gods again, bearking the First Commandment all over the place).  And Washington even tried to get rid of the First Commandment...duh! There is a great article, a classic in the spiritual healing field  "Possession" by Adam H. Of all of our projects this is  the most exciting and important and helps put the Bible to great use now - just what Jesus had in mind and wanted. This is ultimate practical archaeology/anthropology/Theology and a few dozen other ologies. And the need is enormous.  From a cost effective standpoint alone, Spiritual healing knowhow (easily available, scientifically proven knowhow and with libraries of verified testimonials of good)  could save billions of dollars, not to mention the saving of countless lives and the alleviating of much misery, and with a great infusion of quality of life (including quality of government)  that only the healing Bible can supply.  This quality of life factor in turn heals in many ways.          HANG ON TO YOUR SEATBELTS, PILL BOTTLES, TRADITIONAL MEDICAL CULTURE, EMPTY WALLETS, GOVERNMENT MEDICAL RELIGION, POLITICAL RELIGION, SICK TV ADS,  AND ACHES AND PAINS! This just may be the most exciting adventure you will ever experience!  I hope I can convey to you - using very limited human language in a vast unlimited realm of good, perfect God/Spirit/Love - some of what is going on in spiritual healing studies (and much is still unknown and always will be, but thank Heavens we know enough!).  And get ready for some sterreotype-shattering experiences as well as the zapping of much old-wive's tale thinking.  The whole subject fascinates me personally.  After much excavation, I believe that this field "Spiritual healing" is not some kind of alternate medicine, but is truly THE medicine. Traditional healing methods are wonderful and do great good, and positive thinking does much good, but looking at the entire picture I believe that spiritual healing does more and is more efficient. I believe it is quite possible that on any given day, there are more healings of medical and social problems  by spiritual healing than traditional medical practice. Take a look at all the housewives confronting problems all day long with little quickie prayers; the more they know about the bible the more effective, but  millions know about this.  Why isn't this reported in the news or  proclaimed by the government in health care laws as a great asset? in fact our greatest asset!! Their very medical culture - their pseudo-material religion - their stocks in medical corporations - TV revenue for sick ads - would be at risk!   Anyone in any field of healing, anyone who likes money, anyone who likes to be well,  must check this out.  Just a little spiritual knowledge can do wonders, although one can keep busy studying the subject if they want, and I bet they will, when they find how effective it is.                 OVERCOMING MATERIAL BLOCKAGES; A HEALING AWAKENING.  Everyone in fact will gradually find to their amazment just how many human/material/and devilish-inspired blockages - non-spiritual debris - that they have delt with all their lives that must be zapped by God.  But, the answers are all there, right in the Scriptures under everyone's noses. All of us are guilty of not realizing that what Jesus of Nazareth accomplished all day long for three years,  really was accomplished and can and is being accomplished today. It could be partially because of the antiquity factor - just blot out that "old thinking stuff."  "I am here now and have to deal with the "real" world. "  But what is the real world?  Can it possibly be that the "unseen" is actually the most powerful and real thing?  YES!!! Absolutely!!  Without question...and proven scientifically! I am daily amazed at how many people don't have any idea of the vast number of spiritual healings being accomplished every day. People would be amazed if they knew this!  Again, news bureaus have totally bombed out. The news today is run by corporate ad money not truth.  What happened to democracy - the free demos running things?  Actually, if the fearful would go the biblical route it would help them in the business world!       ARCHAEOLOGICAL OVERBURDEN.  There is much "overburden" as the archaeologists call it as they , "the spiritual archaeologists" I'll call them  work their way down through the levels...of human doctrines, the ignoring of the original Truth, deadend passageways, material Man debris of all kinds - going after the true ministry of Jesus. The first and greatest of all the spiritual healing researchers was a woman minister Mary Baker Eddy making tremendous discoveries in this field a hundred years ago said that she set out to find this first, true, healing ministry of Jesus. She was a first class Biblical archaeologist and made some great discoveries.   Jesus really wanted his story to get out and help people. That is why God sent Him - to help people. That is why the entire Bible story was written...to help people.  Humans are incredibly arrogant.  Man (the humanist/atheists) believe they can do it all; Man becomes the god. That's a pseudo-religion fraught with material pitfalls.  But, fortunately, enough of the true answers, the spiritual tools are there and workable for us today (and we are constantly learning).  It is all a tremendous asset for society, and, in scholarship it is so important because the field is behind every field of study and philosophy there is. It is ultimate wisdom - spiritual philosophy. Having gotten into "spiritual archaeology" I do not believe that metaphysics "beyond physics" (of the Greeks)  or quantum physics  really do this study justice. There are some dabblings going on as I speak.  However, there are spiritual equations. There are methods beyond Man analysis  (Man habitually tries to go the Man/material/human route). One way to check out if you have the scriptures right and if the inspired researchers are on course is to see if their research really works. Put it out on the stainless steel, Theological, archaeological, anthropological, scientific lab table. Does it heal per methodology of Moses and Jesus? Does it help in all ways? Does it really solve problems per Scriptural methodology?  Or does it make people fearful (fear actually can cause illness - disease).   Anyway, I hope the reader pursues this study.  I am positive readers  can add much to the study.  This just barely scratches the surface.  I believe everyone should excavate for the "lost city of spiritual healing." Any denomination or sect can benefit from it.  And, leave the sterreotypes at the door.          BIBLE EXCAVATIONS EXCITING.  I am jumping ahead here quite a bit, but our research excavations are turning up so many "goodies" as the field archaeologists say that I wanted to share with readers.  First, it just hit me, and this is so obvious really, but the many healings of Jesus, using Godly methods, proves without question that there is a God.  And, what's more, healers today using these very same Godly methods with great healing results also, fully documented, are again proving there is a good, loving God.  People apply God/Love in many ways and it works! People should know about this, especially now with so much that needs healing.  And, here is another archaeological "goodie." While excavating the writings of the ecclestical historian Eusebius Pamphilis your writer discovered  that there was a famous statue in antiquity of the woman who reached out and touched the hem of Jesus and was healed. It was a double statue with she and Jesus, and it was made of bronze. This statue was placed in her yard at her home in Caesarea Philipi.  Eusebius said that he saw the statue himself around 300 A.D. (time of Constantine).  And there were many pilgrims who came to see it.  How long had the statue been there?  This is fabulous, because it is proof that Jesus really existed and healed and the Bible is right on. There are many things that tie together here.  This is devastating for the critics.  I wrote two stories about this statue, one a novella: "A Healing by Jesus that Shook the World." Am putting the final touches on a revision right now.  And, also a short story included in a collection of short stories: "Hope and the Healers of Mt. Pelion." These are WAS Publications. (this is also  being touched up). By the way, when writing the novella, the thought hit me, how great it would be if a recreation of the famous bronze of the woman and Jesus were to be made and placed at old Caesarea Philipi. Statues of other healings could be put up around the country also...and elsewhere around the world.  Some areas may be Arab controlled, but it would be great if this could be done.  I don't know of an area on earth that needs more healing and reminding that Jesus "the Prince of Peace," and the Prince of God/Love is the answer. The only thing I can think that might be wrong with the above is that the statues are material. Of course, they do convey a spiritual subject.  By the way, I would rather make finds such as the above (and more will follow) than find King Tut's tomb! There is much glitter in King Tut's tomb, and those finds tell much about those old times, but King Tut couldn't heal. And which is most needed?       Another amazing find. The Osage, Native Americans who ruled with an iron hand here in the central U.S. were very spiritual. They were much as the Pentacostals and other "spirit filled" today and emoted demonstrably three times each day.  They really let loose, maybe even more than the charismatics.  These three events each day were quite dramatic.  This great devotion of Wakonda, the Great Spirit I believe had a tremendous positive effect on them healthwise. They were one of the most healthy of all the ancients.  They were big and husky...some of the men seven feet tall and many of the women six feet...and strong. They hunted buffalo (bison), deer and had gardens, but I don't know that their gardens were any better than the other Native Americans or they ate any more buffalo meat. They did love persimmon cakes and persimmons are rich in protein. (see our section on the Osage on this site - a collection of newspaper columns). (notice the common tendency to go the material research route!!!)  In any case they developed a great empire - mostly the Ozarks, and they even explored beyond. And, they had good personalities. Although in a war culture with several tribes, as many other Native Americans, they were friendly and liked to trade.  The Osage and French really got along together well. They were on the same good natured wavelength. Good naturedness is very healing!  The Osage were the only tribe I know who didn't like alcohol. They were so confident and loved life so, they didn't need any boost or anything to blot out all the good of their life.  They were sharp! They knew they were sharp and strong!!!  It is quite a story and their religion was paramount...a great anthropological/spiritual laboratory for us.         THE ULTIMATE GENOME, THE QUICKENING SPIRIT, THE REALM OF GOD/LOVE, THE ULTIMATE DIMENSION; FAR BEYOND THE PLACEBO EFFECT. There is some research in the area of spiritual healing, but work about which I know is still attached to the material. True, there must be some material. The human mind must initiate belief and study, and good positive  thinking heals tremendously; the placebo effect heals (and the opposite nocebo thinking effect causes just the opposite!) but this is just the beginning and positive thinking - especially biblical inspired positive thinking  - activates the Spiritual out there if the God methodology as performed by Jesus is correct.  However, most of the research can't seem to  break away from the material...and dare explore the ultimate dimension.   Most such research  as mentioned can get about as far as the placebo effect....and good effects of Sunday School attendance, but  can't seem to push on too far into  the realm of the spirit. This takes some very extensive studies of the bible. This is far beyond the placebo effect.        JESUS PROVED THERE IS SOMETHING BEYOND THE HUMAN THINKING PLACEBO. Jesus of Nazareth proved there is something beyond the placebo. There have been some prayer experiments, but I wonder how well grounded the participants are in Spiritual Healing methodology?  Fortunately, Jesus of Nazareth with God guidance took the big step.  He actually healed and raised people from the dead when they were totally out of it and couldn't have had a placebo effect.  And sometimes He didn't speak a word. The "quickening spirit", the ultimate dimension was receptive. This is awesome. We truly get into "the "ultimate dimension" I'll call it.   Just visualize, Jesus  sat there by the bedside, say, of the young dead girl, daughter of the church official of Capernaum on the north shore of Lake Galilee.  He may have taken her hand. However, the placebo effect must be ruled out.  And, too, we must factor in her father's belief that "she was just sleeping" (....but he wanted Jesus to get over there fast, thus having great faith...and also providing more than one believer (two or more believers heal according to the Scriptures). Also add the prayers of the three Apostles inside the room and probably the others outside the door, adding more spiritual power. Also, note that their tremendous spiritual prayer had to cut through a very thick fog of materiality...doom and gloom.  The mourners and morbid flute players were already present...thinking dead.      THE SICKNESS OF THE CENTURION'S SERVENT. To also illustrate that there is something beyond the placebo, once a Centurion came running up to Jesus. His servent was very ill. He said that Jesus didn't have to actually come and attend the servent. Jesus noted that his faith was very strong, and said the servent was already well!      The mind and positive thinking are always very healing, (Spiritual healing is really ultimate psychology), but we must plunge still further into the "ether"  - this fantastic power that is everywhere, and which has to be connected with everything in some way - even beyond cellular and molecular that we can't really see or comprehend totally it is so vast, so awesome. The Greeks knew much about it and called the study "metaphysics" - beyond physics. Yes, the physicists should be on this fast...but to study the unseen they will have to study the Scriptures and related research (and there is a lot of it and good; it is scholarly/scientific).  They have developed quantum physics but this still isn't enough!  However, It is also above our thinking in many ways; it is above materiality. Fortunately, Jesus and others of the Bible left us proofs. They were ultimate physicists into ultimate physics three-thousand years ago! It is fascinating!  It has to be Yahweh - they hit it..."the quickening spirit" as described by Paul the Apostle. Whenever we can tap into this ultimate dimension, amazing things happen. But we have to do it per correct study of biblical-spiritual chiropractic.  And there is no limit to God. This is how Jesus healed instantly - and every affliction brought before Him. And, he said that others could do it also...and even more! He didn't think "limited" in any way. Obviously, He knew that God was unlimited.  When the student gets into this, he or she begins to see that all of the inspired writers of the Scriptures were and are light years ahead of everyone else. I have completely run out of adjectives the subject is so stupendous and exciting. I commence to use words such as "awesome" that is popular right now...but that just shows you how one runs out of adjectives when trying to describe God, which is so vast.          Here is another big Bible clue for us when analyzing this unseen power.  The Apostle John said the monumental phrase: "God is Love"  (his book in the New Testament).  So, we know this unseen area is good, and that Love is the most powerful thing there is.  What a great "tool" and can be used by everyone immediately. Jesus had to have poured on the Love.  He dearly Loved (capital L) the girl lying there dead in Man's eyes but not in unlimited God's eyes.  She was a child of Love - totally perfect in every way.  He knew this from the first writer of Genesis who proclaimed that God created Man in His very own image and likeness (which had to be spiritual since God is spiritual) and His creation was good, as God is good. So, Love is the true unseen picture behind all material, and everything is really saturated with It...and it is good....and tremendously powerful...more powerful than we can comprehend...if we can tap into it...if we realize it...if we are Loving...if we Love others (the power radiates).  People have this Treasure within them (from the Creation)  but don't realize it. The most powerful good thing in the world, universe, is right under everyone's noses!!! To do this we have got to apply the Jesus methodology. We have to cut through much bad material, Man debris..not good created by God.  Want to know where to go in the Scriptures, go directly to the Sermon on the Mount commencing, Chapt. 5, Matthew (there are three Chapters). But thank God we have the biblical methodology. And we are learning more about it every day.   It is right there in the Bible.  Zap sin (the oposite of God/Love), have faith in the process, and don't let up. Apply the Golden Rule (really God/Love again), pray (it cuts through the material)...check the one recorded prayer of Jesus "The Lord's Prayer" in the Sermon on the Mount.   Focus on Life, Light.           We know that when one gets all the right God factors together the healing can happen very quickly.   Modern healers using these methods also know that there are no drug side effects, simply because there are no drugs.  It is all done spiritually.    Wow, there is a lot of research still to be done, but it is exciting.  I personally wouldn't miss this study for all the tea in China.         MISCONCEPTIONS & OBSERVATIONS CONCERNING SPIRITUAL HEALING RESEARCH. I have never seen so many old wives tales and attempted research blockages in any field than in this Spiritual Healing Research Field. There is constant battling of the negative Atheist/Humanism/Man God movement.  In Atheism/Humanism Man/materialism is the god (a pseudo-god).  This movement is more organized and stronger than most have any idea. Of course, nothing is stronger than the God of Moses and Jesus, and we always have on our "Armor of God" as described by the Apostle Paul or "St. Paul" if you will.  Spiritual healers are often wrongly described as being of cults. Some wrongly believe spiritual healing is Gnostic. It's Spiritual, but  grounded in the Scriptures...Spiritual reality and proven to work by application of biblical methodology...a cross check as in basic math.  Some denominations also wrongly believe that the healing methodology stopped completely after the time of the Holy Fathers around 100 or 200 A.D. This theory has been proven scientifically to be wrong. Jesus' methodology works today; it's proven.  There is also the misconception that Spiritual healers today don't like traditional medical doctors and their medicine. What a terrible misconception. Both fields are great, but their methodology is totally different. Spiritual healers often go to traditional medical practitioners; they are working on their methodology. Some advanced students don't. They are very good at it, and, in fact, have used it  for a long time. They use this healing methodology all day long, day in and day out.   For research we need to study these people and see what they are doing right.  Some traditional medical practitioners have discovered Spiritual Healing and are great fans (they are the one's you want to go to...they are double barreled, and aren't ever licked (because God is never licked and He is behind everything) in fact, just getting started, if they and the patient happen to hit the material wall. It is quite a story, and much is going on in this area that would surprise many. See: your writers 9 column series "The Physicians of Love." (a newspaper column series).       One healing method is material and the other Spiritual. However, "the quickening Spirit" or ultimate dimension if you will, is always present in both fields. Traditional healers could benefit greatly by this knowledge.  Here's a tip. Arm oneself with Love. If there is, say, some animosity against a superior in the clinic or hospital, or fellow worker, or spouse or other relative back home, leave at the door...or better yet heal that situation with knowledge of God. Perfect God is always present and dominates; that's the true picture; why waller in misery down on the bad material level/quagmire? God is the greatest instrument in the operating room or patient's room.  Who created the metal in the scalpel? That "ether" in every space and cell is good; thank Heavens. God created only good...so what is bad? Questions, questions! Bad is something if one lets it be such; so, don't let it; go with perfect God Spirit.  Jesus kicked evil behind Him, and called it "the father of all lies." That is one of the greatest healing research statements ever made!! Get that ultimate positive thinking going.  O.K., one is getting on the wave length. Also, clean up one's sin slate. Just ask God/good to clean it up. It's easy. Know that God is all powerful, which He is. Moses knew it as did all the other inspired writers of the Bible. Then, pray to know this. The ultimate dimension likes prayer. Prayer is also a great calmerdowner (new medical/psychological term!!!). And, calming down is very healing. It also commands total obedience. These are just a few Spiritual First Aid tips. And as in traditional medicine, first aid can be very helpful and even save the day, however, the field of Spiritual Healing is  vast - as the study of traditional medicine. To really get into Spiritual Healing in depth would require as much time and study as medical degrees, internship, residency and more...actually both require extended lifetime study. New finds are being discovered constantly. It's exciting. I believe both fields are just in their infancy.      HEALING ETHICS:  And note, both students need to know what they are doing. "Do no harm," applies to both fields.  Christianity treasures life. But no matter how hard both types of students try to heal, sometimes, they fail. Sometimes both types of healing are fast, sometimes slow. But both types are trying their very best. Yet, society holds them sternly to the task of healing. It has always been this way, and sometimes very extreme. I'll call the latter, the "Alexander The Great Reaction." Alexander the Great put to death a fine Greek physician who couldn't heal a friend. Society does need to realize that materiality as "god" is an imperfect god; the only true perfect God is Yahweh. "All men come short." And Yahweh is the God of Love, forgiving  and healing.  Man has quite a time of it, sometimes taking baby steps, sometimes giant steps in His and Her quest for the Spiritual.        Healing ethics is a fascinating study by itself.  Different culture is sometimes involved. Anthropologists call this field Cultural Anthropology or Ethnology. Cultures have different approaches to death or life.  Cultures are usually ethnocentric or egocentric; some judge this or that way. Roman fathers (patriarchial culture) would take one look at a new born, and if he didn't like what he saw, maybe some material flaw, he would fling the babe off the Tarpatheian Rock of Rome (anthropologists call this "infanticide"...abortion is a form of infanticide). Our law today condones infanticide - abortion (strange that this androgynous, material, man law becomes both the big father/mother in Washington "Heaven." siding more with the mother - a matriarchial culture) and also a human material viewpoint, especially since the success of the humanist, Man-as-a-religion movement. Their underlying goal is to get rid of God-thinking. Also, modern infanticide is sometimes connected with Eugenics ( an off-shoot of Darwinism created by Galton, cousin of Darwin). Essentially, Eugenics is Natural Selection speeded up by Man. Hitler was very big on Eugenics. In fact, he loved all of Darwinism.          Anyway, our present law  is very strict on all types of healers who fail.  Anthropologically speaking, law comes under culture.  But then there is Man law and God law. Both have to be factored into the equation.  Law is a must in a civilized democracy. Edith Hamiliton, the classicist pointed out that the Athenians knew there must be control in the free society, otherwise, there would be chaos. And, the greatest law is the Law of the Scriptures, which, again has been invalidated by the humanist movement. The Spiritual healers heal this negative thinking and go on with their good work...and in the process proving that there is a God.        Judgment of healers who fail sometimes falls into the scapegoat phenomenon.  There always has to be a scapegoat.  Check our section on this site: Race & Cultural Relations, WAS with much on the scapegoat.  Whole countries sometimes use this device against other countries. Hitler was an infamous scapegoater; the Jews became his scapegoats. Scapegoatism fueled the entire Nazi movements. The method is very contagious. The scapegoat method is a big factor in the study of prejudice, and must be studied closely.  Classrooms about social psychology study it all the time. But healers of all types run into much scapegoatism. "The Dr. doesn't know what he or she is talking about."  Spiritual healing students are ridiculous and in the "fringe" area of study, etc.     SPIRITUAL HEALING IDEA (will also help traditional medical practitioners).  Get together the denominations that believe in spiritual healing and have them write down their methods of healing.  Also have other religions put down their own methods of healing spiritually.  Then, have a group of scholars go through this and organize. The results would serve as a basic list of necessary procedure.  Have a section about what they believe on when or if to see a tradional physician.  Also have a section on what they believe about what I'll call the "X God Factor".  God is always in control. Some denominations believe in an approach that not all will make it...a  form of triage.  Others believe that God is all powerful and good, so, how can He be limited in any way?  Get all this down.  It would be quite a documentary on the state of spiritual healing.  It would be helpful for all spiritual healers.  If practitioners of healing followed this state of the art methodology it would be better for them if there was a failure.  This same approach could also be applied to traditional medical practitioners. If they are following the best up to date methodology it would help them if they, too, had a failure. Medical certificates help, but up-to-date rules would also help.      Medical statiticians record failures in the traditional medical field.  I saw a list last year, and it was more than I had any idea. Spiritual healers need to do the same thing, although as medical people, probably hate it as they might proclaim that faith in their approach might be harmed. And traditional medical people need faith in their field as well.  It is very "priestly" if you get into it.  But the more figures and data we can get our hands on I believe the more helpful in studying the whole thing. We here in archaeology and anthropology are used to recording data at the dig and in the lab and museum and get into heavy science.  The great creative scientist/educator Dr. George Washington Carver explained science to his students like this.  He held up a handful of tangled bits of string - a real rat's nest, then, he held up a ball of string neatly wound up. He pointed to the neat ball of string and said..."this is science."  (Rackham Holt's, George Washington Carver; An American Biography). Spiritual healing has many of the "loose pieces of string" that need tidied up. But, of course, at a certain point all hit an invisible area, the God Wall or "Ball" of endless unknowns that they just can't explore in the laboratory. They even run into the problem of not having enough words/language to express what they need to say about God..  But all that any of them can do, is do their best. But, I believe more data keeping would help both fields...and patients too. It's not easy, especially with, say, busy Mom's using prayer to solve problems all through the day and half the night....same with busy traditional physicians. They notice little healing moments all through the day and night. They notice little set backs.     AN IDEA FOR A HEALING DEGREE PROGRAM..  After looklng at all this, I'll jump ahead and propose another idea.  There needs to be a formal curriculum of Spiritual Healing Studies. Get the studies organized. There's plenty of subject matter...ex. courses on Bible references to healing....practical healing courses in the field...both class and lab work. Students must prove that they can heal.  Spiritual healing ethics another course....also dealing with critics...Spiritual healing in various religions...including healing by Shamans.  The history of Spiritual Healing. Spiritual Healing and Psychology and Beyond Human Mind studies (would include the study of the placebo and beyond).  Healing Testimonial Literature. Spiritual Healing First Responder training...w/on the spot Spiritual First Aid and Life-saving techniques. Then, really first and foremost, standard Bible Study classes...Old and New Testament. Associated Literature of the Bible, the famous Commentaries, Great Old Books, Practical Ministerial Work; speaking, marrying and burying, etc.  The student would pursue a basic four year bachelors in Theology, including much Spiritual healing, then, three years in spiritual healing....plus a doctorate, then, post grad work.. Idea entered Feb. 4th, 2011...and added to a bit, Feb. 9th and 13th, 2011.  Ron M.       Some Spiritual healers might say this leans too much toward the material. I do realize that some non- school studies can be very good. We in archaeology especially know this where top amateur archaeologist work with pros.  I almost hate the word amateur as some of the amateurs are as good as pros.  I personally have followed all this for years.  This would make a course by itself in the above mentioned curriculum.  Chapman at Mizzou carefully in no uncertain terms told us students not to get the big "superior" academic head around amateurs. He had us help out in many ways when the Mo. state society had an excavation/meeting/picnic at some archaeological site. The amateurs in archaeology are truly the nation's greatest work force in archaeology and need to be encouraged greatly...saving the nation's priceless antiquities....and in this case, the globe's, priceless, Spiritual healing heritage.  But all must realize when studying good spiritual things - the underpinning of good material - that we have to "render to (a very material) Caesar."      INVALIDATION AGAIN. Your researcher also came across a terrible, negative, gloomy  wrong affecting many denominations and really society in general. There are many diabolical "religious" writers who specialize in running down other denominations.  They cater to those who hate other denominations, and make money out of this hate. They also cater to management of denominations who want to invalidate other religions, thus, making their own denomination supposedly look better for prospective recruits or those already in the fold.  This is just the sort of thing that dumb politicians are doing today?  Where is God/Love in all this? Even if there are differences, what's wrong with at least just being peaceful...sitting down and being friendly? What's wrong with a cup of coffee together? Do you think God would like this better than hate? Wouldn't this be closer to Love? The Catholic Church gets a lot of vitriolic flak, but I notice that the late Pope John Paul II, when over here on one of his seven or eight trips always tried very hard to get different denominations to just sit down and be friendly. In fact he did accomplish at least one non-denomination meeting of ministers in Wash., D.C. of which I know, and probably more. That was one of his missions. Who do you think is the most God-Loving...the most healing? But notice invalidators  never give the other fellows a chance to cite reasons for their own thinking and explain this or that.  Strange. All this creates tremendous friction, and doesn't help the larger field of Christianity (or whatever religion) nor the spiritual glue of society. More human debris.  However, we have a great field to explore in Spiritual Healing.  We must cut through much opaque ("glass darkly" of Paul) to see "Light" of which Jesus spoke.  The fabulous news is that there really is a spiritual world of God/Love and it is ultimate health.  It created good. We must toss bad thinking (the culprit) in the dumpster.  The inspired characters of the Bible recognized this fabulous good and saw it proven.      The Native Americans -close to earth (which helps) - knew about it "The Great Spirit." The mighty Osage prayed very emotionally three times a day to Wakonda outside their lodges or on the hunt. These were very dramatic sessions with tears and vocalizing. They would have fit right in with present day Pentacostal and Charismatic meetings. The Osage, who ruled an area here in the midwest "the Ozarks" as large as the country of France, were very husky healthy souls - many men seven feet tall, and women six feet. They were psychologically healthy. They were friendly and open to the first whites, the French, who were equally friendly and open. A great relationship ensued with a lot of trading (both liked to trade). So, Love to all (the main healing ingredient) - and even to the doubters and invalidators who need it most of all!  Here we go on an exciting archaeological expedition. (entered Dec 30, 2010 -  Ron Miller...with a few more notes Jan. 11,  and 29, 2011).         SPIRITUAL HEALING INSTRUMENTS. One of the first things that we must do in studying spiritual healing is to  familiarize ourselves with the spiritual healing instruments.  We need to keep these instruments handy at all times. And as all fine instruments we need to constantly keep them in good shape. They will get a big workout - daily. You will need them yourself, and you may need to take them along as a spiritual responder to help someone else.         We have two types of tools. First, we have material tools, but these are only to be used to unlock the big Spiritual Healing Power God, the No. 1 tool.  The Bible is a good example. It is a paper and ink book (material), but it unlocks "The Word of God" which is spiritual. The people in the Bible were spiritually inspired to write "The Word of God."  This constantly amazes your writer that they were "right on" - with perfect logic...God logic...an absolute treasure chest of guidance - if we will only take it. This is the Spiritual Wisdom of the Ages. Also, it must be noted that there is good material (created by God) and bad material, which we want to zap.         Most people are materially oriented, and it is difficult for them to get their eyes and minds off of what they can see to the true reality the perfect God-Spirit, which they can't see. But, carefully note, this God-Spirit can be proven to exist.  If one uses Godly methods, problems are solved...healed.  IT WORKS!  SCIENTIFIC PROOF OF GOD RIGHT NOW!  This is the most humongous thing that has ever happened, and we can thank Jesus of Nazareth.  He  caught on to this amazing discovery, and employed it everyday of his healing mission.  He used Godly methodology and healed every problem brought before Him.   What's more, He ordered His assembled followers, who he had gathered to go out into the world and preach The Word to "go and do likewise".. "Heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers and raise the dead."  Furthermore, He said that all "could do even greater things than He!"  What He did was so revolutionary and different that those without faith were just stupefied (as today), and couldn't believe it even though it happened right before their eyes. They couldn't see the whole picture - Jesus' travelling emergency room with all the spiritual healing equipment, knowledge of God he had found in the old scrolls in temples even when he was a little boy. He was imbued with an unprecedented spirituality.  But, again, many couldn't see the whole picture and were dumbfounded. Also, their entrenched beliefs and very positions were in jeopardy with a new King.  Even Pharisees would witness a healing by Jesus and say it was of the Devil. They had to invalidate it...and many others do the same thing today.  It drove them bats; it couldn't be happening but it was...and is (God is always there, here, in, around and running things for good).  This goes on today too. God is still here today! Right in our laps, but, strangely we don't use! Or use just a fraction! The Christ spirit is still here today.  Jesus said: "I will be with thee alway." There are many being healed every day around the world using the teachings and methods of Jesus and other teachings in the Bible. If the power of Spiritual healing were better known today - cutting through the entrenched media, material tradition, and various other human/material obstructions, the stocks of the medical industry and media would plummet. Billions of dollars would be saved not to mention the alleviating of much misery.  People just can't see the spiritual, and they themselves don't know enough about God and God methodology, so, they just blot it all out of their minds. They are also much influenced by the Man-material-humanist/atheist movement commencing back in 18th century Europe (wrongly named "Age of Enlightenment.").. culminating in the U.S. in our lifetime with the invalidating of God in schools, government and society in general. Unfortunately, this pseudo-religion that worships Man will bring down society if not checked - actually healed by God. The emblem of the humanist movement is Prometheus, the Greek god of mythology who stole fire from the gods and gave it to Man. Prometheus was punished by Zeus and had to endure much misery - re the "Prometheus bound," story. Look around for Prometheus. There is even a statue of him in Rockefeller Center...and a movie studio...and a publishing compay with favorable humanist literature. This is all quite an organized movement, really a pseudo-religion, one of the biggest in America now...and very effective. Their religious doctrine has taken over minds in schools, Washington, D.C., including the Supreme Court,  the invalidation of Christmastime and more. But look at the horrible results, the messes we are in right now. Boy, do we need spiritual healing!         So, the chief spiritual surgeon to study is Jesus, Son of God. Get ready for radical surgery, spiritual surgery.  All of His words are spiritual healing tools. And one must study the Old Testament also in order to see where Jesus was coming from and more healing tools.  Moses and all the rest must be studied. Moses had some great Spiritual healing instruments such as- "The 10 Commandments" given to him by God  ( The Commandments are very healing and also good preventive medicine).  He also prayed much - prayer being a great Spiritual healing tool. He had to combat bad Man/material stuff every day. Again, Jesus noted all of this and more. The  Bible is precious and will help us heal today. Genesis alone is a treasure chest of healing. "God created Man in His own image and likeness" which means Man's true picture is spiritual and  good!  It is sad to watch the materialists try and invalidate Genesis where every word is priceless for our Spiritual healing research. Darwinism, for example is a material religion, and devotees battle greatly for their pseudo-religion,  and try to trample precious Genesis facts and clues in the process. They try mightily to throw it all in the dumpster, information that will save their very own necks. Ah yes, the Age of Duh is upon us. We have to constantly fend off (with God) critics of Genesis, because we don't want them trampling and invalidating the archaeological site. There are priceless clues there for our spiritual healing research that we are positive will help society. We must do as the archaeologists when they have found an important site.....protect it. We don't want any invalidation going on at all.  We need grant money and students for our research, and we don't want the grant organizations and students falsely brainwashed on Genesis and all the other treasures in the Scriptures.    More later on research. There are even some theological doctrines that don't believe God can heal today...right in the face of all kinds of biblical scientific proof! The fact is that the good proof is in the pudding.  Also, Jesus said "I will be with thee alway." What a great healing help!        GOD/LOVE, THE NO. 1 MEDICINE IN THE BIG HEALING PHARMACOPEIA. The big healing ingredient is God/Love, the ultimate medicine. Jesus was the authority on God/Love, and we need to study His methodology and what He had to say about it.   God/Love is also great "preventive medicine." I believe it is the best medicine. Just knowledge of this one Biblical healing fact could help all kinds of healers increase their healing percentages. In my series of Newspaper Columns "The Physicians of Love", I said I believed that a janitor mopping the floor in a hospital room saying little quickie prayers for the two patients, radiating Love,  in the room may very well be doing as much, if not more, good than the Dr. and Nurse in an out. On the other hand, if the Dr. and Nurse know about God/Love, I believe that will help the healing process. Same thing for visitors. If some believe in a church doctrine that believes that God triages patients and is not 100 percent healing for all and is not perfect, nor is His child perfect, "in His image," this can't be too helpful. There has to be 100 percent God/Love going on at all times.    Genesis was on to this Spritual/Man connection long before Plato. But, Plato was quite a Theologian, and so was his great teacher Socrates. And, even Aristotle, the father of science and logic, and a student of Plato's for twenty years, had picked up godly thinking from his famous teacher, although he didn't mention as much being predominantly into his scientific things.  (see: Edith Hamilton's analysis of the great philosophers in her Echos of Greece).  And we always have the inspired- by- God Biblical characters and a lot of Theological researchers to thank for showing how to get in touch with  or re-awaken the connection with this Spiritual  healing bonanza and mainly to point to Jesus "the way, the Life..." the main healing guide. He said that He is the only way.            GETTING CONNECTED WITH THE ALL-POWERFUL HEALING GOD-LOVE-SPIRIT.  This is the great quest - getting connected with powerful God-Love-Spirit.  It means having a  chiropractic/osteopathic spiritual alignment.  Jesus gave all of His patients and situations such a treatment.  He, of course, was in perfect alignment.  Sometimes this alignment is as easy as pie, sometimes it is slow.  But even a little bit of alignment can help a lot.  I can't guarantee that this will work for everyone, because I don't know everyone's situation...how far along one is in studies, how much material, negative thinking one has to overcome, denominational/sect/doctrinal road blocks and more.  But the spiritual approach  has been proven to work for countless persons. If the reader has some problem, say, drugs, some other illness, a social - including marriage problem - financial, or whatever, there is a site that has many personal testimonies of how individuals have healed problems with God.  See: www.spirituality.com .  This is a very comforting site. Jesus is known as "the comforter."        Your writer knows that one has a good bit of spiritual study to do when confronted with a  temporary  non-God belief, and needs all the help possible.  The late southern commediene Jerry Clower told of the time he was up in the top of a tree battling wildcats. Some guys down on the ground kept asking him - "How's it going up there?"  He finally answered - "I need help NOW!" I have paraphrased a bit.                    TERRORISM CAN BE HEALED SPIRITUALLY.  We and the allies are battling terrorism in two wars as we speak....and several near wars are in the wings.  And we even have terrorist gangs on some of our streets at home. Terrorist drug thugs are also encroaching along our southern border.  Not only are we battling terrorists but they are  battling themselves!  They don't have the healing tools to break the clutches of evil in their own minds and get right with God.   To show two healing views:  An anthropological, psychological, Man-material approach might be they are afraid they are losing their women to the West and thus their manhood.   This would be Freudian. If you want to get a man insanely furious and fearful, the loss of manhood will do it. The western culture gives them a massive "castration complex." Also, when they cut off heads and hands they are really striking out and cutting off something before it cuts off their own, private, sexual parts that are always threatened.   In the southern hemisphere, Machoism has gotten totally out of control.   On top of all this, many are fearful they can't find work to provide for their family...more fear and material Man thinking. They take up a diabolical kind of work, terrorism, killing, drug-dealing, domination.  So, this is the man/human approach. Usually, muscle is applied but that means more war and killing. But there is another more powerful healing approach:         HOW JESUS WOULD HANDLE TERRORISIM OR ANY OTHER DISEASE.  Right here we have to stop cold right in our tracks and do a complete 180 and switch from material thinking to Spiritual thinking.  Jesus of Nazareth immediately disolved bad - evil. He knew that Evil was a lie. He said a couple of times that the Evil One was a liar...in fact he added that he is the father of all lies. Evil is a windbag. It is God who is the all power not evil! We have to pick one!!! I can't think of a more significant discovery in the history of mankind...other perhaps that when the Jews discovered the one and only God, Yahweh.  But, the minute that Jesus disolved bad, then, in flooded good, perfect God, who was (is) there all the time.  So, the big recognition is to not give bad power; realize that God is the powerful one.  So, in prayer, commence visualizing the correct picture, and pour on the good spirituality.  Terrorists don't realize it, but they are really spiritual creations of God (created in God's own (spiritual) image; thus their true nature is godly and good and perfect...they just haven't realized it. So, pour on the good prayer...pray that they realize the true God picture.  But there is a human/material catch. The patient needs to reach out and absolutely know that God can heal him. But there are some interesting side issues to this reaching out that will be discussed next. (Before proceeding I have to give credit for the above thinking, this Jesus methodology of healing to the late bible scholar Mary Baker Eddy; she discovered this and more back in 1876.  See: her theological magnum opus Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures). However, don't blame her for any possible missteps of my own in this healing study.     RECREATING A HEALING SCENE OF JESUS.  One of my favorite healing scenes of Jesus is when he raised from the dead the young daughter of an official in the church.  In an impassioned plea from the father for Jesus to come and bring his daughter back to life. This was in Capernaum on the north shore of Lake Galilee, just before Jesus went out to heal a crowd of sick persons. One of those healed was the woman with an issue of blood.  She had come all the way from Caeserea Philipi at the foot of Mt. Hermon (probable site of His assencion). She reached out and touched His hem and was healed. Jesus and Apostles finally got over to the home of the dead girl. There had to have been a crowd there, fully convinced that she was dead; the death musicians had been called. The dirge like music and moaning and wailing didn't add much of a positive effect to the death scene. Nevertheless, Jesus cut through all the negativity, worked His way into her room and set by her side.  She lay there still, for all apparent man material thinking...dead.  This really gets interesting.  First of all, we know what He thought about all bad...it was of the Evil One.  He had said that the Evil One was a liar and the Father of all lies." So, He immediately dissolved bad...He zapped it...didn't give it a chance to even be a problem...because it was really non-existent.  This wasn't a cop out denial in a modern psychological sense, as he had proven this "liar axiom" as I will call it to be a fact. This thinking worked; All perfect, Loving God was(is) the true reality...but it has to be realized.  Much earlier  He had literally ordered the Devil behind Him when out in the desert going through a trying ordeal getting ready for His ministry.  Also, we know that He had to be praying, knowing all this and that His Father God "Yahweh" "Jehovah" would answer His prayer and raise the girl. He had done the very same thing when He raised Lazareth from the tomb. When Lazareth came out of the tomb covered with a grave cloth, to the utter shock of all present, Jesus said to God "I knew you would answer my prayer."  So, Jesus was pouring on the prayer by the side of the "dead" girl. Mind you, He knew the tremendous power of God, if only realized. He knew the Old Scriptures by heart; he knew the true nature of God.  He often pointed out that God is Life...everlasting Life at that.  This was the true situation. The God Spirit is the real.  Paul explained it "the quickening spirit."  Most people today and then too, don't have an inkling of the powerful force for good that they have right at their fingertips (in their fingertips!) if they will only realize it. But, most don't have a clue.  And Jesus would go on to tell those around Him that they would be able to do greater things than He.  This is all awesome.  The term Metaphysics - beyond physics coined by the Greeks doesn't seem to define everything going on here. There is definitely a God-Spirit of good.  And what about this situation of the patient being out of it. She couldn't give Him the O.K., although she probably believed in Him, as her father did for sure. She must have heard her Mom and Dad discuss the Messiah.  And, Jesus did have another believer near...the Father. He would later say "any two that gather in my name" will have the prayer answered. So, He also had that positive factor - of the other believer near- going for the situation. Absolutely fascinating!       So, back to the healing scene. Yes, you guessed it. The girl awoke. Can you imagine the chaos that broke out in that house!  All the material thinkers had to be totally fractured.  By the way I reconstructed this particular healing scene in my novella: "A Healing by Jesus that Shook the World." This is a WAS Special Publication.     GREAT HEALING METHOD....REACHING OUT TO GOD.  All those wishing to be healed by Jesus reach out to Him.  In the days of His ministry, this went on for three years!  If you have some problem today, just reach out to Jesus for help. It works today - 2,000 years later. This is very healing. Jesus said: "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you." Luke 11:9.  Yes, Jesus can disolve bad, but it helps if the patient reaches out and helps....and believes Jesus/God is all powerful, perfect good.      Then, after Jesus was crucified and rose from the dead on the third day, people go to Him again.  If there happens to be some guilt that is bugging you, just go to Jesus and ask for forgiveness. Guilt just melts away.  All bad always melts away when confronted with Jesus/God.  Being "saved" by Jesus who died for all man sin, is known as "the saving grace."  There is nothing like it in any other religion. There is a famous hymn "Amazing Grace," written by an old slave boat captain who had a dramatic turnaround.  But this dissolving of sin is tremendously healing. The only thing Jesus asks is to "go and sin no more." This "Grace" is a great gift.    So, reach out to God or Jesus.  Interestingly, this method is much like psycho-analysis. Freud and his followers in psycho-analysis dig around down in the sub, sub, sub conscious and root out guilty things, and expose them to the light of day and thus zap them. The psycho-analyst is  a god-like figure...really a pseudo-god.   But, note that Jesus was doing this and more thoroughly and quickly 2,000 years before!  I have a theory that Freud just may have got on to his psycho-analysis guilt ridding method by studying the method of Jesus.  Then, his (Freud's) own guilt - and not being able to give credit where credit was due -turned him to atheism!  "Dang me, dang me, get a rope and hang me!" as Roger Miller (no relation) said. I know, it is awful, me psycho-analyzing Freud, but it is all there and Jesus was first in the guilt-sin-ridding department.       Actually, Moses evidently did the same thing. He was always having to point out to his theologically challenged followers that worshipping a phallic symbol pole stuck in the earth and a material golden calf was sinful....and they should commence worshipping the true God Yahweh. Yahweh is the all powerful God that got Moses and his people out of Egypt in the first place and through the miserable desert and countless obstacles. So, Jesus used the disolving of sin method time and again with his patients. He knew the Devil stuff is a lie, thus nothing when exposed by God.  This went on for his three year ministry...and has been applied for two-thousand years since.  What a great healing method! And free!  And, this is just one spiritual healing method! But sometimes Jesus went right straight to God to heal some illness.               USE OF GOD TO HEAL GENERAL SOCIETAL PROBLEMS SUCH AS FRUSTRATION, FEAR, ANGUISH,  DOOM AND GLOOM ATTITUDE AND OTHER NEGATIVE FOCUS ON THE MATERIAL HOLE IN THE DONUT THINKING, WHICH OFTEN LEADS TO BODY OUT OF WHACK THINGS AND MORE, ALL SPROUTING UP LIKE MUSHROOMS AFTER A SPRING RAIN DURING ECONOMIC, POLITICAL, NATURAL AND MAN-MADE DISASTER CRISENFLOPS. (I'm thinking about entering that in the Guiness Book of World Records windy title category!!!)   The answer as usual is good, perfect Spiritual thinking and getting human eyes and minds off of bad material things..on to the True reality of things, which, again, is God-Spirit.  Can you imagine what it was like in Jesus' day? There were all kinds of miseries...over-taxation...ego-maniac moguls ruling...both in the Roman and Herodian empires.  There was much sickness as today.  Hard times increases fear, which increases illness.  Poverty was rampant.  However, Jesus and His Apostles waded right on through it.  Jesus kept everyone's mind on the true God/Spiritual picture... that is he tried too. He constantly promoted "Eternal Life",  which is true (Truth), lasting. They were learning about the great power of this unseen spiritual Force.        The Apostles would later write much of the experiences and teachings down.  One can read about these experiences in the New Testament.  It is filled with applications for today. Cultures change, but basic human nature is the same. The Scriptures are..sooooo right.. This suddenly getting to the Truth has a healing, calming effect.  It is really one big healing story from beginning to end.  What a treasure!        Edith Hamilton, cited many times herein, believed that the lack of the spirit of democracy is what brought down the Athenians. But there is also a Spiritual type of spirit, and I believe they lost that too. They knew about the gods of the myths, but they also knew about the One and only God, but for the most part ignored Him. Paul the Apostle pointed this out to them when addressing the Aereopigites. Bet there was a lot of cringing in the audience! The Athenians rode high during the 5th century B.C., but were hit by many problems from different directions...the Spartans, the plague, the Macedonians of the north, tough going for the tiny city state. Their confidence was in bad shape.  Demosthenes tried valiently to rally them and actually succeeded getting them to take up arms twice against the Macedonian threat, but failed both times. It was all a sad fate for the once glorious Athenians.  If they had had that democratic spirit of their wars against the Persians at Marathon and Salamis, things might have very well been different. From a man-material standpoint, what the Athenians did against the Persian horde just couldn't be done. So,  Spirit is everything - especially God-spirit. How do you inject spirit into people? Human confidence is great but it must be based on the right, solid premise.  It takes commitment, work and study.  Military folks can tell how to develop esprite de corp. Any minister can tell how to get with the Holy spirit.  So, it is possible. The USA had it for almost 200 years, but commenced leaning too much toward the material. The material looks good, and that is all most people know about, but it is very limiting and won't last.  It is the spiritual behind the material that is all powerful, perfect and lasting, and as Jesus said...Life (meaning God) is everlasting. That's the real power.        The question always comes up in material thinking...how can a good God allow such "stuff." The late Pope John Paul II explained....The cross of Jesus always remains solid, firm, while the world revolves around this cross. This is from his great little book: Crossing the threshold of hope. By the way, I believe this little book is very healing.  For one thing it heals much false thinking about the Catholic Church. We are talking big time help here on any problem.  They have a lot of experience dealing with problems. By the way, one of the things that John Paul II worked on very hard was bringing various churches together. If one ever needs any healing help in this area, he is a very good healing source.  When looking at any problem just attach the healing preface, because that is what the need is. It is a positive way of looking at things. Things can truly be healed.  Again, if interested in exploring spiritual healing check:  www.spirituality.com.  I am just barely scratching the surface here.        IRANIAN WOMAN TO BE STONED TO DEATH.  LISTEN UP!  HERE IS A GREAT CHANCE FOR SPIRITUAL HEALING.  The news just came in that a woman in Iran is to be stoned to death for committing adultry.  Jesus of Nazareth came upon a scene where a woman was about to be stoned to death for adultry.  He stepped before the crowd and told them: "Those among you without sin, cast the first stone!"  The crowd melted away!  Jesus said to the woman..."Go and sin no more."  What a great lesson here for all mankind. What a neat healing.  This horrible treatment of women has a lot of sexual fear, guilt and psychology involved concerning the oppressors and definitely lack of knowledge of God. It has nothing to do with God/Love, which is always thinking of the other person, care and empathy.  The Devil is all about self, and that is what we have here.  So, Iran is a land of devilish terror.  The harsh rulers are fearful of many things.   They are in great need of spiritual healing.  They are in need of God/Love which is not of fear.          So, terrorists, or anyone,  for their own health, need to sit down, take a deep breath and think Spiritual...the best medicine for any situation around. It's free.   I don't know if people of other faiths will think as the Christian and the Prince of Peace who also is the Prince of healing?  There are some old connections between the  Moslem and Christian faith. "Accent the positive and eliminate the negative," as Johnny Mercer said in his great old song.    Americans need much healing also.  Many are on some kind of Man arrogance kick and, strangely, still worshipping the phallic pole in the ground and the golden calf. We are talking REALLY slow learners here!  Some modern Americans make Zinjanthropus look like a genius.  Anyway, the great method of healing - the absolving of sin - is easily available right now - free. Best bargain on earth! And that is only one healing method!         PRINCE OF PEACE. Peace itself is a great healing medicine.  Why not use it?  Why keep being sick with the pandemic disease of war?  War is a disease and can easily become an e-pidemic or pandemic. Why not reach out to a proven good/loving God?  Why in the world make Satan a god? (a false god). Satan is behind war and all bad. Jesus said to Satan: "get thee behind me!" So, spiritual healing is definitely in order. How long will this realization take?  Don't hold your breath, yet, we learn from the Scriptures that "anything is possible with God." So, keep thinking and praying Godly possible.  "God works in mysterious ways."  Jesus of Nazareth was known as "the Prince of Peace." He kept telling people to  "love one's neighbor" and "turn the other cheek" when done dirty.  And His beatitudes in the famous Sermon on the Mount give great comfort to those hurt...and explain much.  This is all pure God Love, and as mentioned earlier, this is truly the greatest healing agent.  The more God/Love thinking one funnels into their heart and soul,  and which expresses itself outward, the more healthy they will become.  Terrorists who soak up bad and express bad are making themselves ill.  They should immediately quit taking the highly toxic drink of war.  There is a better way to solve (heal) all problems. "Look ye unto the Rock from whence ye are hewn,"       I AM THINKING SERIOUSLY OF ENTERING SOME FOLKS IN THE GUINESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS AS THE MOST SUPERSTITIOUS, MULTI-FALSE GOD WORSHIPPING  PEOPLE SINCE THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS WHO LIVED IN CONSTANT FEAR OF STRANGE SPIRITS (IT WAS HALLOWEEN EVERY DAY).  How do people today expect to be healed by God if they are worshipping all these other strange gods?  The true God won't give them the time of day.  Moses was right in the middle of all the false god worship of ancient Egypt. That had to have been quite a learning experience.  The Egyptians lived in constant fear.  They worshipped cats, birds, strange looking man/animal creatures, pharoahs, queens, etc., etc.  It is fascinating from an anthropological/theological standpoint to examine all the strange pseudo-gods worshipped today...all kinds of drugs, sex, human idols, political ideologies, non-God philosophies and an endless list.   Will save all that for another time, but suffice to say, that's not healing. It has to be God.  He won't accept  halfway or complete neglect. He can't be outfigured, out done, out smarted.  But right here is the key to much healing...or, unfortunately, non-healing. It is up to the patient!        DEATH THINKING is a big liability of the terrorists and many others too..  The terrorists are thoroughly embuded with thoughts of death.  In fact, they are suicidal!  And, they try mightily with all the tricks of Satan to scare others with fear of death. Jesus on the other hand  was just the opposite of death and fear. He spoke often of Life (meaning God)...and loving people (people are very important. After all, God didn't create His good offspring to be killed).  Freud wrote about death thinking in people's sub-conscious back in 1915 during WWI. He was on the front row in Vienna, Austria.   Jesus also knew about death thinking 2,000 years earlier...but He solved it!  He said: "Death, where is thy sting!" And it is impossible to kill everlasting Life! Can the terrorists discover Jesus...with a Life of good and helpfulness in God and Love of fellow Man?  The world would be a better place.  They are totally on the wrong track headed right for Satan's big dumpster.        WOMEN CRUCIAL IN MOSLEM WORLD TO STOP TERRORISM AND HUMAN MISERY. I should mention along the above line that women of the Moslem world involved could do much to build up their men and defuse things.  I realize the patriarchial culture is powerful, especially that of the terrorist culture, and some women there are probably morbidly fearful of their men, and that family slave situation needs to be healed by God.  But, I believe the women if possible could help much by making men more secure about women and say western culture. Convince men they love them, AND MEN ARE TREMENDOUSLY IMPORTANT, but there are a few things in western culture that aren't all that bad...but they won't desert their men. It's not money but "love of money," (as explained in Scriptures) that causes many problems.  And all of us can  pray that they replace the terrorist-evil-man-destructive stuff with all powerful real, good, God Spirit. Again, from a Christian standpoint, the powerful, loving, Christ Spirit is available right now for healing anything.  Jesus said, "I will be with thee alway."       God had something good in mind when creating Man and Woman. Yet, humans try mightily to tear it all down.    The Book of Genesis says His results were good.  If we examine things on the stainless steel anthropological lab table we discover some interesting things.   The Garden of Eden episode says that Men came first, but much later Jesus came along and overcame the materialsim of the Garden of Eden in spiritual ways.  Jesus was a radical spiritual surgeon.  Life, Light, Spirit, Substance, Love became the most powerful everlasting ingredient....and first..  It's all God.  That's the focus. And it is all good. You know this is the way, because it is proven to be healing...and that is what we are after concerning many things that need healing.  We are getting to the heart of everything.  Jesus figured out all this metaphysical, high theology.  So, whether we want to heal terrorism or a hang nail or women/men relations, we need to go first to God and learn all about Him and His ways.        THE MOTHER LODE OF SPIRITUAL HEALING.  I have a hunch that when people find out about all the healing possibilities in the wise Scriptures "the wisdom of the Ages"  there will be a stampede that will surpass the 49ers in the U.S.  heading for Sutter's mill or the Klondike....and the findings are more priceless than "apples of gold."!  But don't hold your breath, because it is not easy to wrench one's thinking away from Man-human material things that one can see (and aren't really the main picture, but the result of the main picture) -- to something that can't be seen (although it can be proven by results).                    HEALTH CARE BILL COULD BE HEALED. Here is another example to show the reader the exciting "archaeological dig" that we are excavating. Spiritual healing is the answer to the fouled-up Health Care Bill.  It has passed but is still undergoing much dissection and analysis as it went through too fast in the first place. A number of good ideas got bulldozed.  It was a Man creation and should have been a Spiritual creation.  Man always thinks he knows everything.     Fortunately, God isn't that dumb or confused...He did a great job...on everything; He knows exactly what He is doing. He is keeping the planets spinning and in perfect balance no less!   It is humans who mess up...and they won't consult this Higher perfect Authority, which is behind everything...the True Ultimate Source..."the quickening Spirit" of St. Paul (quoted many times  herein - a wonderful healing instrument/definition in the spiritual healing bag!).    True, there are some good things, some new things and improvements of old things in the new bill, but in many ways it is a material, human  monstrosity with many big pseudo-godly things above citizens and could have been made much much better. And a knowledge of Spiritual healing could have helped greatly.   And to my knowledge, Spiritual healing itself as a great healing method, which it is,  wasn't even mentioned in the text in any way as a healing method, addressing the basic spiritual needs of all the healers in the field and those who could be healed by such methodology...any healing methodology. All this can't be utilized because the pseudo-religion of material, Man Humanism has taken over.  The Truth is, however, that  "The quickening spirit"  is the over-riding healing umbrella of all fields of healing.  No wonder things are so fouled up!  Poor humans have done it again! And of all things, they broke the First Commandment of God: "Thou shall have no other Gods before me."   I keep thinking  - our Founders were so brilliant with their true belief "Our Country Under God," (fast being lost by humanist, Man, material  thinkers who replace Yahweh with material Man as the God).  What a disaster! Citizens have let the humanist/atheists toss the Bible with all of its healing knowhow into the dumpster!.  Can you imagine humans so arrogant that they believe they are smarter than Moses, Isaiah, Solomon, Jesus, Paul, Peter, Luke the beloved physician and all the rest!!!  There are many titles for our age, but "Age of Arrogance" fits very well. Also, "Age of duh"  works too.        SOCIAL PROBLEMS HEALED. Thankfully, there  are all kinds of Spiritual healing possibilities. Besides physical and mental healing there are social problems that need "The quickening spirit." (Paul).  The Spiritual always underlies the material. Moses constantly had to heal his people's thinking and pry them out of the material thinking to the spiritual.  The Age of Duh begins when people have a good thing right before them but toss in a dumpster.   And, of course, Jesus carefully studied Moses.  Moses' people would stand before him and point to their beloved Golden Calf and a big pole stuck in the ground (phallic symbol..both calf and pole being symbols of the strange god  Baal) and plead..."Dear Moses this is the real thing  and will save our crops!"  Moses would sadly shake His head and say...." My dear dummies...Yahweh is the real power! Who in the world do you think made the rain and crops and soil in the first place?! You can't see him...and here are His rules, His law engraved on stone tablets that I went to all the trouble of hauling down from Mount Sinai...for YOU!  Yahweh cares this much about you.  Do I have to do cart wheels to get it into your thick skulls?"  Well, your writer has gone far beyond paraphrase to get the point over, but it is all fascinating.  Here we are today with all the answers right there in the Scriptures.  Moses and his people have been there and done that...and, then, Jesus got everything together, and handed everything to us on a silver platter! What a fantastic gift.  Of course, we have to reach out and get it. We seem to have paralysis of the arms and brain!  We are spiritually challenged on Bible studies.         AMERICA'S SCHOOLS NEED SPIRITUAL HEALING.  One of the strangest things in all of history happened in America's schools.  A false pseudo-religion called "Humanism" that worships Man and materialism took over.  This is as bad as some ancient Egyptian god as Isis, Horus or Pharoah . The Founders didn't want an organized religion taking over but it has happened with Man worship.  The great old  idea set up by the Founders of democracy "under God," (not an organized church) was working just fine and built up America to the greatest country on the face of the earth.  Then, of all the dumb things, the human Man-religion took over, and look at the disaster we are in? On the antiquity chronological chart we can see the U.S. and rest of world also go down hill.  So, the schools need healed.  The arrogance of Man is truly amazing.  The humanists are positive that they are smarter than Moses, Solomon, David, Jesus, Paul and all the rest.  Amazing!  Moses I am sure is jumping up and down on a cloud pointing to the very first Commandment on his stone slab.  "Thou shall have no other God before me."  That's where to start; get a true God - Yahweh.  Look where the false god of Man is leading schools.  It is just reported on the news that a shool is trying to teach sex education like something out of an adult film commencing with kindergardners.   Biology studies are fine at the right time of life and if o.ked by parents.  The study of anthropology (study of Man) is half biology (the other half is culture).  The thing is the man religionists don't know about the best, overall, highest, ethical, true religion that must come first.  Does the student have such Sunday School studies under their belts?  No one should have to deal with a false material as opposed to spiritual religion.  The educational system has the cart before the horse.  And, obiously they have been indoctrinated by the humanists.  But, after all it is understandable.  John Dewey one of the signers of the original Humanist Manifesto was the biggest guru in American education.  Teachers worshipped him.; some still do! This was during the first half of the 19th century.  And, of course, Dewey and all the other humanists had roots in the Age of Enlightenment (a great misnomer) that commenced in France in the 1700s.  Atheist philosophers were writing away at that time, spreading their false religion far and wide. Europe was contaminated first, and now us.  The humanist/material plague finally got over to America, and we now have the present disaster with many students becoming humanist clone-zombies. Even the government and courts are full of them.  Keep in mind, the only thing the humanists have on their plate is a material Man human approach, which is very very limiting.  They don't have God which is unlimited and the True picture behind the material!  Students have to learn about this or they are going to fall flat on their faces.. The humanists have really short changed the country. The only way to heal the situation is with the true God.  Hopefully, the healing can take place before Man totally wrecks his own ship.  Here at the WAS we care so much for students and our great country that we want to go on record being for the true Godly picture.         SCRIPTURES, A GOLD MINE OF HEALING. Fortunately, Jesus and His spiritual colleagues are right there and waiting to help folks in countless ways today.  The inspired Biblical characters provide a gold mine of healing research and practical help in the foremost healing text.  Many followers today would  be happy to loan their Bibles free to the Washington Moguls or anyone else in need.   The WAS promotes an old Bible repair project. This is really a fun project gathering old, beat up Bibles, copying great little sayings by former owners in front sheets and in margins...and then repairing. These are old Bibles that can't be hurt anyway. A little clear tape, book glue, colored duct tape, brown paper bags or plastic for covers will go a long way. Then, give away or charge a little fee for whatever your charity is. What a tremendous good deed!!!  Volunteers appreciated. There is much to be learned in spiritual healing.  And, by the way, we need to do everything possible to encourage such study. One can't find anything more positive than Scriptural, Godly, Loving things.  As helpful as Spiritual Bible healing  is though, it is amazing how many do not even know about it, or all the great biblical research on the subject, or how many are helped daily by it around the world.  Many  have picked up old wive's tales and have other misinformation about it, including picking of points out of context in writings.  It takes some study, sometimes persistent study depending on amount of material barriers accumulated through life, including the ancient, anthropological bugaboos ethnocentrism and egocentrism, but, then, voila!  It is quite an awakening. If spiritual healing is mentioned to some, they go into a fear-panic mode. They can't see all the methodology used or big picture, which can take as much time or more than traditional medical school studies if one wants to really get into it and increase healing percentages. You can see that many have no idea of all the good going on because of Bible healing.  Then, you think, oh boy, there is a tremendous amount of education needed.  It takes an acetelene torch of God-Truth-Love  to get through the steel safes of closed minds. But only God can heal this impediment.      When a kid, my Uncle John was a driver for an auto thrill show. They would perform at fair grounds and ball parks. I got to hang out there, and he would take me on warm up drives around the grounds going ninety-to nothing. One of their acts was to crash a car through a brick wall. They would first wire doors shut, put a mattress in back seat (to jump into at last second), fill tires with air to make them hard as a rock (don't do this on modern tires). This is the hard way to get through the material brick wall(s) - there are many in life.  However, if one will look closely, there is a nice little spiritual path that goes around the material brick wall. That's the healing path to take on any "brick wall" problem. For some reason we want to give that brick wall power over the spiritual path...the path to real power, and we go right on crashing our heads into the wall.  Ouch! There has to be a better way...and there is....Spiritual healing!        MODERN PHARISEES. Also, modern Pharisees are active today just as in the days of Jesus of Nazareth when He did so much good daily, and for three years at that, and tack on 2,000 years more good done by His followers as well, with God-healing methods...right before their very eyes.  It was the Age of Duh...and still is. It's "duh je vous all over again," to borrow a Yogi Berra saying with a little doctoring.  One has to learn how to defeat the evil, negative onslought.       SPIRITUAL HEALINGS PROOF OF GOD.  The healings of Jesus using Godly methodology were - and still are - absolute scientific proof that there truly is a God!  This is devestating to the Atheist-Humanist movement. This is  Laboratory of Man, scientific, irrefutable proof!  Yes, the big news is that many are studying and applying effectively His methodology today.  Why isn't this headline news especially with so much misery out there that could be readily healed? Your writer, having run into so much  misunderstanding - a real convention of old wive's tales  and doubting Thomases - and seeing major traditional medical facilities and programs (some really big name operations) not having even a little bit of Spiritual healing research (really shocking!) and what they do practice is still welded to the material as opposed to the Spiritual,  had to dive in. From this scholarly-scientific stepladder it is exciting.  If you want to watch critic's eyeballs spin, show them verified, Aristotilian-methodological  proof of healing.  It is awesome.      SPIRITUAL HEALING RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS. Fortunately, we have some wonderful research instruments at our disposal in areas of anthropology ( multi-branched: see: "Home" on this web site ), archaeology (including the great branch of Biblical archaeology) many schools have no idea it even exists (and the God spark is in every one of their cells just waiting for recognition), and really such helpful -for -society- studies should be the most important and exciting studies on campus. All this for us really is a sub-field of Theology the big umbrella. The anthropology section would be called "Theological anthropology," or "Spiritual Anthropology" and archaeology would be called: "Theological archaeology," or "Spiritual Archaeology"  (it covers both Biblical archaeology and various other areas of Spiritual archaeology, say, Native American Spiritual/Shaman studies, Eastern studies, etc.). Lack of knowledge of Biblical-Spiritual healing in big schools and hospitals really  is criminal it is so helpful.        WHEN THE MEDICAL DR. HITS THE MATERIAL WALL, FORTUNATELY, THERE IS SPIRITUAL HEALING, A TRUE, PROVEN, HEALING METHOD. I have seen much misery because of lack of this knowledge. For example, patients being treated by traditional medicine  are sometimes given up as hopeless when the practitioner hits the wall with a limited human methodology, yet, there is a vast proven field of healing - Spiritual healing to turn too. I can't make any guarantees, because i don't know how advanced people are. But I have seen some excellent results. You may want to explore. But what happens is - often the traditional healer has no idea of this vast area and at a loss to even mention if he or she runs out of material options, thus leaving the patient flat and hopeless. Really, it is radically different from traditional medicine, but if I were in charge of  a big medical center of some kind,  I would get into this study and research big time and not waste a precious second doing so.  I know, it is hard on egos and radically different, and "tradition dies hard" as sociologists say, but I believe they should do it.   It is not a superficial thing; there is much to consider to do it right.  It is not an easy flight of fanciful faith or denial (really it has tons of backup methodology) or escape from reality or some kind of Stoicism or fringe, quack, snake oil thing. It involves ultimate reality...and is being studied by some of the best scholars. Physicists are working on it (but having to enter that other world of metaphysics), and Theologians have known about it for ages, and even some traditional medical healers as well.    It's quite a story; in fact, this amazing force - God/Love -  the ultimate healing medicine - when unlocked or activated by directions in the Scriptures does wonders. The inspired people in the Bible know exactly what they are talking about. They have been there, done that...and want to help us greatly.  It's recognition of a vast area of help.  It's all too powerful; we can't ignore it.       DENY THE EVIL ONE. DON'T GIVE THIS CRACKPOT SALESMAN AN INCH. Jesus used denial as a healing method by denying the power of the Evil One,,,"get thee behind me Sataan!" (said in the 40 days of trial before His ministry).  The Evil One is totally in favor of disease of all kinds. Disease is bad, and he is the champion of bad.  He is a great salesman. But if you examine everything in Sataan's office, break the lock on his safe, get into his computer, we are shocked to find his office, his safe and computer are all empty! The revelation is astounding!  Jesus said "the evil one is the father of all lies." This is one of Jesus' most effective medical tools. How brilliant! He knew the nothingness of evil and the all power of God. This great discovery of Jesus was re-discovered by a woman Bible student around 1870, Mary Baker Eddy and became one of her favorite verses in the Bible as it shows up many times in her writings on healing. See her "Science & Health with Key to the Scriptures." Especially see her "Scientific Statement of Being" (am looking up the exact page number).  Also see: The Tenets of Christian Science. p. 497 of our copy.  Something else from the Bible that was a favorite of hers was the First Commandment.  I often find myself telling about this in connection with healings, but she got me to thinking about it first.       But Spiritual healing is really radical surgery...the nothingness of the material. Ever thought of kicking the Evil One behind and denying him power as Jesus did?! You need to study Jesus and his methodology.  Old time healers in country churches are very emphatic about this.  They might even forcefully stomp their foot on the floor...and order the evil one to release his bounds on the patient...and everyone in the pews shouts encouragement ....and the great, loving, spiritual, atmosphere and force grows. The Holy Spirit has been recognized....there all the time and indescribably powerful.  Welcome to Pentacost all over again! Talk about ultimate positive thinking, this is it!  It is atomic powerful...the "quickening (healing) spirit" of Paul is still here!.       MORE ON FEAR.  Fear is one of the big blocks in any kind of healing. Fear was delt with effectively thousands of years ago in the Scriptures.  "God has not given thee the power of fear..." (Tim. 2...written by Paul to Timothy). Sigmund Freud knew about the bugaboo of fear, but Jesus and Paul the Apostle were way ahead of him with some better ways of dealing with it, 2000 years earlier.  By the way, the evil one loves fear, one of his most treasured methods. So, again, just kick it all behind!  Replace fear with good God who can handle any situation. After all, He created all the good, including us,  in the first place, so, He must know all about it.       FOOD-HEALERS CAN BE HELPED. What about food healers today? And food police? They do much good, but there is still a higher healing method.  Jesus said..."pay no attention to what you eat or drink but seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all things will be added unto you." So, just keep God Spirit above everything. As usual, the Spiritual is the true power...if recognized.        DRUGS HEALED BY SPIRITUAL HEALING. Ah yes, there is that big difference between the material and Spiritual. Drugs are material..but the spiritual is vastly more powerful. What a powerful friend to have on one's side!  Radical spiritual surgery will be involved.  However, it is a known fact that the more one progresses toward the Spiritual, the more healing goes on!  I believe that Jesus was light years ahead of everybody.  For example, and for an experiment, say you have some problem, say, alcoholism or tobacco or some other narcotic or synthetic narcotic (none are  as powerful as God/Love) divide the situation up into bad vs. good. Who is really stronger...a narcotic with a dumb chemical formula ...or All-Powerful God...Creator of all the good universe?  No Contest!! First thing, get one's religions straight...it has to be a true religion not a false pseudo-religion. Drugs are the pseudo-religion.  You have got to commence thinking true religion.   Get rid of your belief in alcohol and other drugs  and associated culture and beliefs, say, narcotics are terribly hard to break (yes, in a material sense...but not in an unlimited, spiritual God sense, so chuck these negative Man beliefs)... and any other false beliefs (none of it is of good God)...transferred over to good perfect, positive,  Spiritual, God things belief.  This is the true picture because  God created everything good (Genesis).    Use prayer; fortify yourself with good Bible readings. Associate with good spiritual people.   Replace bad falseness culture with good, real Truth culture. Yes, believe it or not, the Spiritual is the real. Jesus often spoke of the spiritual things being the Truth - the lasting (the material won't last).  Get your thinking straight. The Evil One will try desperately as he did with Jesus to hit you with stuff in his empty briefcase. He will say: "everyone is doing it....you can't function without it, etc., etc.." Keep fighting this cursed nutball. Again, Jesus said that "the Evil One is the father of all lies." Jesus battled the Devil for 40 days and nights before He commenced His ministry.  He knew how to beat the Evil One, and all of Jesus' teachings and actions are absolutely necessary to study.       Drug Cartels, dealers, bought off politicos of Mexico and elsewhere...are going against Our lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, Jesus, God.  Those who worship the false religion drugs can't win.  First they are breaking the First Commandment of God, "Thou shall have no other gods before me."...and the Commandment "Thou shall not kill." They are in deep trouble.  How do they get out? St. Paul the Apostle at one time led ruffians that killed followers of Jesus. Paul stood by and watched St. Stephen stoned to death. Read Stephen's speech. But, later on the famous road to Damascus to persecute other Christians, Paul was struck down blind on the road. Jesus came to him and said "Paul, why do you go against me and persecute?  Now, in a complete turnaround, Paul went on to be the greatest minister of Christianity (after Jesus of course)...and a great healer at that!  God forgives the worst crimes if repentence is shown.  So, here was a great healing by God of a killer!  I know that the drug cartel people and many drug addicts in U.S. and elsewhere have relatives that are praying for them, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, grandmothers and grandfathers and others...and the Lady of Guadalupe too! And, there are many people praying in the courtyard of the main Church in Mexico City as well. I have been there. The scene is awesome.  I have a hunch that many there are praying for drug people ...praying on their very knees.  The drug criminals have to get down on their knees also and repent, ask forgiveness, reach out...then God will forgive.  Also ask God for good work to help God good.  If asked in good faith, the answer will come.  The whole situation needs healing.  Right now it is all totally against God...and orchestrated by the Devil.  Why give the Devil an inch.  Why work for the Devil the biggest nothing operator of all time?  Instead, work for God.  That is positive, the real thing, healing. As the spiritual comes in, the bad begins to vanish into its true evil nothingness.  It is an amazing phenomenon. Much love on this learning experience.  Bad can be beat.        ANOTHER NOTE ON HEALING OF TERRORISM (and drug cartels are terrorists). Bible healing is the answer for healing terrorism. Terrorists need to learn the Truth that God is Love (Book ofJohn)..the total opposite of terrorism.  If they don't learn the Truth as taught by Jesus, they will have a miserable future.  Free people must keep strong, but they can still pray that terrorists see the Light.  I am just hitting the tiny highlights of Spiritual healing methodology to give an idea of possibilities. If interested in this, the reader has a lot more fascinating study awaiting.        ANSWER TO GLOBAL WARMING...GOD GIVEN CREATIVITY.  Something else to be healed:  Bible Spiritual healing is the answer for the "Global Warming" problem.  Man has to get his Spiritual act together first for a healing of this situation.  Tons of material thinking must be cleaned out of the attic to free up God given creativity (look for good answers to prayer). Hyper greed with no effective ethical guide will just keep making things worse.  Check Genesis.  We are stewards.  A super ethical "sledge-hammer" (the Bible) is necessary.        SICK DRUG ADS NEED HEALING WITH SPIRITUALITY. Still another disease that needs healing with Spiritual healing...is sick drug ads on T.V. What these ads are doing is programing viewers brains to think sick..and death and be fearful...advertising, barbed, mental hooks.  Again, Herr Dr. Freud, M.D.,  knew all about death in the sub-conscious. The ad psychologists are using to the hilt. Of course, Jesus countered death two-thousand years ago..."death where is thy sting." ...and He spoke often of Life. How wonderfully healing!  Forget about the old saying, "You are what you eat." It should go, "You are what you think."  The minute one of these ads comes on, quickly zap it with the remote, or block it mentally with Spiritual thinking. There will be more about these ads later, but they are really dangerous for society.  It is obvious that the government is bought off or they would pass a law to prohibit such disease.  Why in the world would a government want to poison its society? Or make people fearful? Or think death...all designed to promote fear.  Fear causes illness!   How diabolical can you get? The government is working for the enemy.  And, of course, the enemy is the Evil One!!!  I believe that we have one of the sickest most fearful societies of all time...maybe the worst. And much of it is caused by the diabolical media and government.         ECONOMY CAN BE HEALED. Economy, finances $$$. Some think it is right up there next to God...they may even put it above God!  Jesus stated clearly that God will take care of us. "He knows what we need before we even ask it." (Jesus). Much has been written about God supply.  The big problem is that if one makes money a god, this shatters the First Commandment.  Moses, who brought down the Commandments of God  from Mt. Sainai, knew exactly what he was doing.  Every time he turned around, his people were worshipping a "Golden Calf."  How did he get them to drop the glittering, tantalizing, Golden Calf and commence worshipping the true unseen God Yahweh which would help them enormously?  It is quite a story. When considering all the things that need healing spiritually we are extremely fortunate, and have a woman Bible student to thank for her inspired research on the Bible analyzing all of Jesus' healing methodology and all the other healing in the Bible and putting it all together and  figuring out what was going on and how it all works, PROVING THE WORK SCIENTIFICALLY and presenting in an understandable way for everyone's great benefit.  This lady was Mary Baker Eddy, and her research and findings are presented in her book: Science & Health With Key to the Scriptures. This is monumental.  We couldn't get three lines here in our own research on Spiritual healing without her help.  To get started in the first place I need a big Spiritual shove and she gave it. I was like the paratrooper trainee stuck in the plane door and received a shove from the Jump Master.  I believe her work is much greater than Champollian who cracked the Egyptian glyphs. using the Rosetta Stone.  The Hieroglyphics and spectacular King Tut's tomb don't heal Mankind.          THE GREAT HEALING INSTRUMENT PRAYER.  First question:  How does one pray effectively?  Prayer is one of the greatest healing helps. The best treatise on Biblical prayer I have ever read is by Mary Baker Eddy, Church and newspaper founder, early Bible healing pioneer and scholar, and also women's right's pioneer ( see the first chapter "Prayer" in her classic of healing: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures). Then, how  does one identify, analyze and separate the material (which is limited) from all powerful Spiritual(unlimited)? Again, check the above source. So, who really owns all the equipment in the operating room? The Hospital Foundation? Or who owns the books in the school library...or the building itself?  (for more explanation, see: "Possession" by Adam H. Dickey, a classic. Published in the Christian Science Journal, June, 1917 and re-published and available now in any Christian Science Reading Room). The Reading Room, by the way, is one of the most healing places in town. One can feel it the minute he or she walks in the door. Have a problem of some kind; run it by the attendant. Bet he or she has a written testimony or some other writing pertinent to the situation.       ALL SOURCES OF SPIRITUAL HEALING. This brings up...what and where are all the research sources on healing and the Bible in general and who wrote them ...and other works of healing around the world? Reading lists are important.  The works are voluminous.  What about the archaeological setting where the laboratories of spiritual healing were taking place? Biblical archaeology to the rescue!  What was the cultural and historical influence on main characters? Such understanding helps with  reinforcement of faith. Many colleges and universities have field crews working in the Holy Land. One really gets the feeling of the Bible on digs. And as the soldiers say, there are no atheists in foxholes, likewise, there are no atheists in excavation pits in the Holy Land. And as mentioned above, the CS Reading Rooms (or on the internet. See spirituality.com) for great sources.      Now, where are the main centers of healing today? These centers offer a great window into the past. The Catholics know of many old sites where the Saints healed. A little later I will tell of a great healing site, The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, that I visited. Sites in the Holy Land. Why did Moses battle Baal- followers and their custom of worshipping a pole stuck in the ground - a phallic symbol...and the golden calf (both material symbols worshipped devoutly by millions today!). See: Mt. Hermon one of the old centers of Baal worship.No wonder our country is turning into one big clinic.  Mt. Sainai a healing site. So, it is interesting and crucial in this study to analyze why the First Commandment of the Ten brought down by Moses from Mt. Sainai was..."thou shall have no other gods before me." (Mary Baker Eddy did much analysis of this Commandment and connection with healing in her S&H). In Jesus day, synagogues were places of spiritual healing.  One begins to see why we are inundated with all kinds of problems today! We worship the wrong things! We give power to narcotics. The Evil One loves it. What a con artist!  We are very slow learners!  Only until humans abandon and ask forgiveness for all pseudo-religious worship...and "worship the true God with all the heart and mind." will God open the flood gates of healing and other good (already there and waiting! Humans have dammed up the flow).   Now, of all things, Atheist/humanist priests have managed to erect their pseudo-god of man in government and schools, and we look around us at the results and want to cry.   Lots of true God healing is to be done. Moses is shaking His head up on a cloud baffled by all the slow learners down here.  And, the Sermon on the Mt. must be studied thoroughly - it is very healing!  The location is known today!  Mary Baker Eddy was very big on the Sermon on the Mount as a healing writing.  The Psalms and Proverbs are also very healing.       THE BIBLE, THE BEST  HEALING PHARMACOPEIA AND HEALING RESEARCH CENTER.  Really, everything in the Bible is healing. We are talking a big time healing pharmacopeia here.  And, again, the biggest healing tonic is God/Love, for God is Love.  We could spend 82 university semesters alone on this healing subject and not even scratch the surface, for God is so vast. The Apostle John said "God is Love." So, now we have to study the Book of John - "the Apostle of Love" as he has been known down through the ages - to get more insight into this greatest of all healing ingredients...and while at it, we must study the entire New Testament and also the Old Testament (all tremendously healing).  We must study the healings of St. Paul and how he himself was healed of some sort of speaking problem (yet, became one of the greatest most effective speakers of all time. God gave him the right sermon words and knowledge of Jesus; he was already an expert on the Old Testament; he even studied under the great Gamalier of the Sanhedrin, but had to learn about Jesus). Tradition says he also had an eye problem.  Modern opthamologists believe the condition was probably opthalmia. He was also healed of a so-called "fatal" serpent bite on the shore of Malta. And the healing of the ship wreck that cast he and crew on the shore in the first place also needs to be studied. You know he was praying fervently during the storm and wreck. So, one of his great healing methods had to have been prayer. Tradition has it that he was called "Old Camel Knees", as he had callouses on his knees.   And Luke "The Beloved Physician" was right there many times observing Paul evangelizing, ministering, healing.  Paul or Lucanus (Grk) was a Greek physician. We don't know his early history. The famous author Taylor Caldwell was fascinated with Luke since she was a little girl and studied him in much detail - even going over to the Holy Land. The result was her novel Dear and Glorious Physician. I'm waiting for this to become a movie; I'm sure an Academy Award winner. There probably isn't another Charlton Heston out there, a bigger than life character...but maybe so?  Of course, Luke as a physician was a careful scientific observer, lost in his big healing lab, so, maybe he wasn't a bigger than life type. But the reader of his treatise today can tell that he was greatly fascinated and a close observer. . What a treasure for us today...a Spiritual healing treasure.  Anyway, there should be someone who would fit the part. This is a fascinating trip back to the days just after Jesus.  When reading Caldwell's book you will think you are right there watching medical situations.  Then, it is fascinating to study the healings of the Holy Fathers (those after the Apostles).  Eusebius Pamphilus the ecclesiastical historian (writing around 300 A.D.) said they were healing and even raising the dead for 200 years or so after the original Apostles.  And people were interested in healing in his time for he mentions the visitors to the double bronze statue of the woman touching the hem of Jesus and being healed. This work was put up in front of her house in Casearea Philippi (at the foot of Mt. Hermon). She had to travel all the way to Capernaum where she was healed.  Eusebius saw the statue himself. Just imagine, 300 years after Christ, in the time of Constantine,  and people were  fascinated with this healing!  Our WAS last publication "A Healing by Jesus Heard Around the World" revolves around this healing. Your writer wrote this in the historical fiction format. Samuel Elliot Morrison of Harvard, said that the only way most people get their history is through historical fiction! This is undergoing a 2nd edition revision right now. I had the idea, why not erect a bunch of these statues in Holy Land today? (if they wouldn't get torn down!!...but just put them up again!).  I don't know of a place that needs healing more.        I am just scratching the surface on Spiritual Healing study possibilities.  I haven't even begun to get into "the laying on of hands" as a healing method told about in the Bible. Will touch on this later.  Hugs no doubt fit in here somewhere. I know hugs are healing, i.e. Love. Faith is awesome.  Again, understanding aids faith.  I have given you what easily is a college, university or home study course outline.  This will be helpful to us right here at the WAS as we and anyone out there who wants, excavates down through the "overburden" as the archaeologists say  and various layers.  All help appreciated, so that your writer can keep this going. .       One of the big problems at first glance, and I have just barely touched on it, is a difference of understanding between traditional medical healing and Spiritual healing.  On the surface it looks totally different. Something you can see, and something you can't see.  Yes, there are two sides to the coin, but it is usually forgotten that the coin itself is gold, and it is God who made the gold!  And God is All and the Ultimate Good, and in charge of the whole works and not confused, ignorant, frustrated, fearful, a failure  and any other negative...only good.   Humans are their own problem as that great physican Pogo pointed out..."We have met the enemy and he is us."  The more the human debris is cleaned up, the more healing there will be. God isn't fooled by human shenanigans.       GOOD LIBRARY HERE. We have an excellent Bible-Theological library here at the World Archaeological Society Information Center, plus a lot of personal experience studying this form of healing. We encourage others to build up their own libraries...fill up your healing bag with studies and observations of healing.  Practical field work.  I  love to go to old country churches back in the Ozarks Mountains that practice this form of healing (what great laboratories - pocket cultures - to observe for a writer-ethnographer type; they get down to business fast, cutting right to the Spiritual quick; they aren't bogged down with suffocating, blinding, material, revisionist history, doctrinal blocks,  ivy towerites, ego and ethnocentrism, etc...and they really know their Bible, putting them way ahead of many scholars and even big healing centers).  Also having grown up in a family that believed and practiced Spiritual healings, although personally being very bull-headed and material half my life, this took me a long time to grasp and really am still learning -- what an adventure!!  Fortunately, all along I was benefiting from great God-Loving things in the family and amongst friends - the Wisdom of the Ages reflected upon the family, right between my eyes and in my lap and didn't  realize it.   I have much understanding for those trying to understand. It's not easy to switch from devotion of what one can see - the material - to the unseen - the Spiritual all powerful that created everything and keeps it maintained and running perfectly (if one will reach out to it).  My favorite researcher on Biblical healing is the late Mary Baker Eddy. She said "The time for thinkers has come." (Preface of her classic on healing - Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures". This is the number one source in this field, and you will hear much about it.  Mrs. Eddy commenced her Bible healing studies just after the Civil War. She prayed constantly as she studied her Bible and wrote. Not a line or page that wasn't prayed for.  It intrigued her how Jesus healed, and she was bound and determined to find out about it.  She had been an invalid and had terrible things happen to her, even had her baby taken away from her.. and , then, at death's door given up by medics, yet, healed by a healing passage in the Bible!  What was going on?  Moreover, it was a very difficult time for women. How could a woman be this smart in God? A woman should be a wall ornament or drudge. Hers is really a great story...aside from her findings and discoveries.  Fortunately, she was an excellent writer with a vocabulary up there with Dickens and Shakespeare. Don't be intimidated by her scholarly commentaries. In her day factory workers loved her works and preaching. Yes, she was a minister. There was another woman preacher, Mariah Woodward Setter around 1880 who held tent revivals. We need to do more research on her. She may have been of the Pentacostal faith. Pentacostals and Christian Scientists both bypass the material and get right to the Holy Spirit. Traditional healing medical students must study the early history of spiritual healing, and I would suggest that they go to the various healing meetings today. Many of their patients are going to know all about this. And it will help them and their studies - this study of God. Like everyone they have problems that need healing. How are they going to handle a tough test coming up? They might have a fear that needs healing. Maybe a family problem that needs healing?  An energy/exhaustion problem? For Heaven's sakes don't turn to material drugs, turn to Spiritual healing (and no side-effects!!!).  Amiee Semple McPherson held healing meetings at her church in Los Angeles and in tent-meetings around the country in the early 1900s.  Oral Roberts and Kathryn Kuhlman followed.  Kuhlman's inspiration was Oral Robert.  The late Roberts has many followers today, many of whom are on TV and radio and having meetings around the world.  If you want to learn about spiritual healing, study these great masters and many more mentioned above.  The student will find Pentacostals and Charismatics, and, of course, Christian Scientists mentioned above...and another group Unity. I notice that more and more denominations are getting on board.  All denominationsall help society enormously with Ultimate positive thinking, but Spiritual healing ratchets things up to a higher effective plateau of Theology.  I always have to caution, don't try these healing methods unless you know what you are doing. Being a writer I have to put in disclaimers.   If you want to learn more, I do hope that you will study the field(s) and can even witness a healing by Spiritual Bible methods, maybe even a healing with these methods of yourself (that will really do it!). In fact, you might be having Spiritual healings all day long and don't realize it!  Lot's to be thankful for, and, by the way, thanks to God is important in this study. Witnessing a spiritual healing is a good way to get the attention of even the most hardened critic. Reading about verified testimonials  in the literature is another good way to see the picture. If you want to get a  fascinating trip back to the days of Jesus, visit a Wednesday evening testimonial service  at a Christian Science Church; they are found around the world. Also, go to a healing revival. Maybe it is in a tent...or a big auditorium. Many ministers are constantly getting the call and striking out on their healing mission.  Yet, many people have no idea that  healing methodology is being used today. Somehow, mysteriously, many people look at all those healings in the Bible, and they just don't register.  Yet, isn't God running the Biggest hospital of all? Jesus proved this so, scientifically, day in and day out for three years healing every case brought before Him...using Godly methods.    So, following are some notes to help all of us get organized before striking out on the Spiritual healing expedition. Our objective is to excavate back to the time of Jesus and even long before to the time of Moses (a great healer studied carefully by Jesus). We will even excavate on back to the ancient Egyptians. Moses and His people came out of Egypt.  Did the Egyptian culture contribute anything? Joseph was a son of Egypt. All sorts of connections. Then, what about Babylon where the Jews were captive?  Fascinating connections! Daniel found himself in a situation in the lion's den that needed healing. Miller, WAS 120 Lakewood Drive, Hollister, MO.                         - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -      SPIRITUAL, BIBLICAL, HEALING GEMS LEARNED.  To save the reader an ordeal of wading through much research verbiage, I want to list a few, important, practical things learned about Spiritual Biblical healing.  I can't wait to get into this.       Yes,  I can't tell you how excited I am  delving into the  Biblical archaeological days of Jesus and His Disciples and what they did that is helping us today and can help even more with more understanding, especially in this particular area of Spiritual healing. At times. I get some glimpses of things that just about knock me over.  Sometimes I think oh, oh, I'm getting into areas where angels fear to tread.  But so much is already known, and these references are what I "scan." I am more of a reporter, an archaeological scribe with some analysis thrown in.   The British call searching for a good place to dig, "prospection in archaeology."  American archaeologists don't like the word "prospection," as this reminds them too much of treasure- hunting (with old Gold Rush, Klondike, Black Hills "Gold Rush" prospector conotations, and they call it "surface surveying."  But, we have surveyed and found an extraordinary site.  In fact, it is a block-buster.         As one example of possibilities,  I am convinced that Spiritual, Biblical healing is the answer to the USA's and Mexico's massive drug problem - the problem that is causing Mex./USA border chaos.  This would cut off supply from Latin America and dry up the source in the Norte.  And, the great thing is that the method is cheap, permanent, and at the same time the drug problem is healed it will heal many  other societal problems. Drug criminals must know down deep that their Lady of Guadalupe - a great healer herself is watching them with a tear in her eye. They can't beat this. And, the only way they can be forgiven for their Sins is by Jesus (Jesus said "I will be with thee alway.")  Jesus would forgive patients. This "sin disease" must be rooted out and destroyed. And all terrorists, rabel-rousers, and hurters and killers have an empty place that can only be filled by the Loving God. Jesus said that He was the way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only one who can truly fill the space and forgive sin.   The good potential is tremendous. So, there is much to be healed spiritually regarding this north/south drug issue.  It will take some study and knowhow, but the answers are all there just waiting for "excavation." And, of course, there are many other drug problems in need of healing. Drug brain-washing on TV needs healing; this includes healing of TV stations worshipping big drug companies, and big drug companies desperate for the buck.  How unscrupulous can you get. We might even dig more into the Freuding psychology used by drug companies to hook  viewers and reinforce their phony material religion in deep minds of viewers. Freud did a paper on death down in the sub-conscious (during WW I) (see: his "Thoughts for the Time on War and Death, 1915). , Freud himself was an Atheist, so, one has to constantly be on guard when dealing with a plethora of non-God stuff. We want to focus on the true Spiritual.  So, notice the ads mention death!! Fascinating. What a dumb dose of fear they are allowed to throw out at poor viewers. How criminal.  But, Jesus was way ahead of Freud with "Death, where is thy sting!" And much talk on subject of Life (capital L). And ordering the Devil to get behind Him. Ffascinating...and healing! When one gets in to it, the Spiritual always rules. This thinking is more healthy!      Another thing learned,  forget about old wive's tale criticism. Jesus delt with it daily.  Right before their very eyes He proved them wrong, and many still didn't believe Him...or maybe they did...maybe that is why they were so angry!  And, there began to be great numbers who followed Him, so, the healings were having an effect.  He then told followers to "go and do likewise."        The above brings up the fact that there are several very distinct methods of healing -- traditional Medical healing of Hippocrates, which is great, and these healers do wonderful things...and Spiritual Bible Healing.  There is also Oriental medicine and healing methods of the East. These methods are great and followers do wonderful things.  Practitioners in all fields are constantly learning.  All these fields get a lot of criticism, but they continue on, constantly learning because they all want and do help many many people. None are about to quit as they see daily all the good done.  Some try to blend the methods, but some do not.  I believe the methods are so different because one is totally material...and the other is totally spiritual.   Jesus, the greatest healer of all time,  when dealing with some problem immediately by-passed any thinking about the material scene.  He didn't say, "ah, yes, that is the worst case of a compound fracture of the femur that I have ever seen. There was one case that was horrible and further messed up by a local Shaman, but I had to do restorative Spiritual surgery to correct things.  We must ready splints and bandages and have some opium ready just in case. Also, you might call realatives and have them line up the customary two flute players just in case last rights are needed. In any case, this will be a long recovery involving much misery, aches, pains, and the patient will probably limp for life.  No,  The Master Healer didn't do that...he immediately ignored any materiality and confidently went to His good, loving, perfect Spiritual God, and He knew that this God would heal the situation. In fact, He obviously knew that it was a done deal right there and then. It had to be, as God didn't make junk.  Says so in Genesis.   Mary Baker Eddy pointed this out. See below for sources of this thinking (I couldn't have relayed a bit without it).  To sum this up, do you see what He did?  He relied totally on the Spiritual. He went directly to this great unseen power.  The scholar. minister, founder of an international church that I believe excavated this material/spiritual factor better than anyone and showed how it all worked was Mary Baker Eddy, founder of Christian Science. . We must give her credit for this tremendous pioneering work and discovery. (see: Science & Health With Key to the Scriptures).  And, she proved it scientifically. Using the Bible and prayer, she was solving some major problems in this area.  Again, using ancient Egypt as an example, what she did was vastly more important than Champollian's cracking of the Egyptian glyphs.  I know that Champollian's work is  great, but she "cracked" the healing methodology of Jesus and made it clear as pie for everyone., thus opening up endlessly practical healing. Healing people is more important than a material golden mask in an Egyptian tomb.  So, happily we have her great research on the Bible and also all the work of the other healers...a great treasure for mankind.  All we have to do is excavate it....and the story goes far back into antiquity.        This brings up the subject of just how much research has been done on Spiritual Bible healing.  The reader will be amazed at some really outstanding studies, books and articles. This is one of the great scholarly stories.  But the exciting thing is that basic source help is all there  in the Bible right under everyone's noses.  As I often point out,  a used Bible can be purchased by anyone at a garage sale for .50 cents! The greatest bargain of all time. The wisdom of the ages for .50 cents!  Mary Baker Eddy herself was healed of a near death situation by a healing she read in the New Testament. But, of course,  the research helps greatly with understanding.  Research, as that above, elucidates the Bible; it doesn't take anything from it. The Bible always comes first, but one has to excavate it.  The ultimate source.  "The Word of God." as relayed by  Moses, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jesus, Peter, Matthew, Paul, Luke the Beloved Physician and all the rest are right there waiting to help everyone and heal all kinds of problems - if asked!         This is the big glitch - overcoming human ego, fear, cultural blocks, old wive's tales and availing one's self of this Wisdom.  Cro-Magnon Man was probably the first physical material  Man, but Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Jesus, Paul and the others were the first Spiritual Men.  When Man became Spiritual Man (he figured out about God/Spirit and his own Godly creation and place in the cosmos...and this could happen right now to anyone)...is the most important point on the anthropological-chronological chart hanging in the physical anthropology lab.   Therefore, anthropology classes should really have a spiritual chart as well as a material "Zinjanthropus" chart. The spiritual is the other side of the coin; in fact, I can save them years of research and let them know that this spiritual side of the coin is actually bigger than the material side...in fact, the entire coin is spiritual. They are going to be forced someday to get into the great study of metaphysics (beyond physics in Greek). I don't see how they can avoid it.      So, everything leads inexorably to the Spiritual - God-Love.  The inspired characters of the Bible are so far ahead of today that it is spectacular. And, we know this because the spiritual teachings of the Bible work scientifically.  Jesus proved that God exists everyday by healing countless people of everything by using God methods...for three years.   He loved to do this and often right in front of Pharisees and other non-believers.  He confidently waded right into the worst Man-material situations. His methods usually went right on past the critics..the "duh" heard 'round the world.  But, fortunately, many in the crowds could see with their very own eyes and believed.  They also listened to His words and believed and had faith...some as the tiny "mustard seed."    Entered Mar. 24, 2010 -- Ron Miller        - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -           REMEMBERING JAMES NELSON GOODSELL. As we explore back to the time of Jesus and the other inspired characters of the Bible, I know that your writer will think many times of, and be inspired by, one of our old WAS pen friends the late James Nelson Goodsell, Latin America Editor of the Christian Science Monitor, Boston. He was a Peabody Award recipient. He helped your writer so much with words of encouragement during the early years of the WAS and even before when I was doing other writing in archaeology/anthropology/art history and on a few other subjects as well. I was a pagan anthropologist at the time - probably one of the hardest cases  of material thinking around. I brought knew meaning to bull-headedness.  I was putting out mimeo newsletters and even before that pitiful, unreadable, blue gelatin letters re. global archaeological news, and blogging away therein long before blogging we know today. That wordiness and need for expression, led to newspaper columns and national and international articles (a few articles in the Monitor), poems, stories, photos and illustrations. I was the Group Photographer one time in the Army and also still do photography.      But, Mr. Goodsell would always find time to send me a few encourageing words in what had to have been a very pressing schedule covering all of Latin America for his world class, Pulitizer Prize-winning newspaper the Monitor. And, by the way, his informative, well written articles and the other Monitor articles as well were also quite an inspiration and education for me. I studied issues carefully and still do.        Goodsell graduated from the University of the Americas in Mexico City. I spoke a little Spanish (not as well) and had taken students down to Mexico City and elsewhere. Also, he was very much interested in archaeology; Mexico itself is practically one big dig.        THE LADY OF GUADALUPE, MEXICO CITY. One fascinating connection here about spiritual healing research is that much about ancient spiritual healing - the Christian type - came over to the New World with the Spanish Conquistadores...(Mexico first, although there might be evidence at some of the little island contact points in the Caribbean. This will take a lot of research). There are little notes - testimonies of healings - pinned to the inside wall of the old Church of the Lady of Quadalupe in Mexico City. These little notes were just inside the entrance to the right.         A MIRACLE. The Church of the Lady of Quadalupe has a horizontal glass case showing a tall, thick, bent candalabra that was on the altar and that miraculously fell over on a time bomb putting it out of commission! The bomb was left on the altar by some deranged soul. The whole church-shrine was saved! But there are many many miracles of healing - with testimonies -associated with the Lady of Guadalupe. She, of course, is the Patron Saint of all of Mexico. Just think of all the prayers and devotion coming from all of Mexico and much of the U.S. of Norte America,  concentrated in that one spot!  It is like the proverbial illustration of the sun's rays concentrated through the magnifying glass on one place. Much to think about here with mass praying for any problem around the world...intercessory global prayer.  What a laboratory experiment here!  And a lot of the Lady's influence has no doubt come up here to Norte America what with all the migration. I believe that all that devoutness is a cultural plus; we need all the healing spiritual infusion we can get. Incidentally, you can see little shrines to Her honor along the railroad tracks in Mexico for workmen. Thoughtful employers up here in Los Estados Unidos del Norte might think of this...and, of course, Canada has United States also as does Mexico!           So, there are some great spiritual healing connections in the New World with Old World antiquity. I think it would be a wonderful project if someone would gather these testimonies in a book(s) (if it hasn't already been done) and also interview the many people in the outer courtyard seeking healings or having received healings...and about others for whom they offered intercessory prayer and were healed. Some people can be seen on their knees doing pennance or simply praying. The ones doing pennance had earlier promised God that if some healing took place they would amble along on knees for quite some distance. Just think though of the countless healings there down through the centuries! Think of the sore knees...ouch! Also think of all the churches in Central and South America that no doubt have healing histories.  Those doing pennance amble along on a special route. If I am not mistaken there may be the twelve stations of the cross along the way, but need to double check.         MEXICAN DEVOUTNESS SIMILAR TO OZARK MTN. DEVOUTNESS. I should mention the devoutness of people in the Church of Our Lady of Quadalupe, Mexico City DF. There is a spiritual intensity of devotees in the Old Church (there is a newer larger church now next door) - crowding around the altar and very animated, which reminds me of Ozark churchs back in the hills here in the central U.S. What great devoutness! There is definitely a spiritual atmosphere, a Spiritual electricity,  here as described of the old days of Pentacost.  This may sound silly to some but one can feel an electric atmosphere here, a very special thing.  I felt this "Spiritual electricity" once before at a small mountain church where I witnessed a little girl - limp as a rag doll - held in her father's arms and taken up to the altar and healed of leukemia. Everyone (and the place was packed) was praying. I don't know about myself...the nerdy, anthropologist, human recording machine  of culture - an ethnologist - in the tradition of the old hard-headed German scholar Franz Boas, Father of American Anthropology (teacher of Margaret Mead and Ruth Benedict)...who "just wanted the facts ma'm!"  I was greatly pulling for the little girl,, and that could be counted as prayer.  Mary Baker Eddy, the great scholar of spiritual healing,  said that desire is a form of prayer (see her: Science & Health With Key to the Scriptures).  I was really getting educated in things not taught in classrooms!       MANY AROUND WORLD HAVE NO IDEA OF ALL THE SPIRITUAL HEALING GOOD WORK . Many today have no idea of all this God good being accomplished by various denominations.  I don't know if the Catholic Church would give permission or not to research testimonials and other aspects of spiritual healing?  The little note testimonials and other testimonials and prayers going on are, of course, very private.  It could be, clerks at the Church down through the centuries have kept records of testimonials. Some of the Priests associated with the Church surely wrote memoirs. The little pin notes may have been gathered  from time to time. Then, as I always do, encourage that verified testimonials be kept. Bible healing is so commonplace for so many believers of many denominations that it is usually taken for granted. However, many other people do not believe it is even remotely possible and need shown as we say here in Missouri, the Sho-Me state. They have no idea of all the vast amount of Bible-healing taking place every day all through the day all around the world (not just physical healing but all kinds of social problems as well - many healed instantaneously with little quickie prayers).  I know that in many cases it is impossible to keep records.....say, a busy housewife using prayer all day long on each and every problem.  Jr. may have just scraped a knee. Husband is driving home in a storm. An Aunt is in a critical situation. Mom and Dad and the Grandparents bring to such situations the great wisdom of the ages, with much methodology and technique...often acquired over many years of study, although not always...some are fast studies.  A difficult committee meeting is coming up. A friend is ill. And, the need may be on the other side of the globe!  Someone in the military  needs all the help he or she can get. And a terrorist enemy  needs to find a God of Love. Even those miserable souls are being prayed for - to be healed - by many.  Fortunately, help is always available from all-encompassing good God, Creator of the Universe!  God is right there always waiting for that outstretched hand..to touch His hem! (the answer is really too simple! ). Just imagine the billions of  problems taken care of "healed" each day! It is impossible for us puny Man researchers to calculate all of it with our Man-material, human, statistical charts for God is too vast!             MANY IN THE MILITARY USE JESUS' METHODS TO GREAT EFFECT.  I would think that military medical researchers would be greatly interested in these healing methods, because no equipment is needed. Non-medical situations are healed.  Talk about cost effectiveness! There may very well be situations when there is no medical help around. And civilians too might be lost on a mountain or somewhere. A combat situation or other military situation may seem hopeless, but God, the Supreme General, is never hopeless, is always right there, watching over His creations. He has been right there all the time.   It takes a while even for the ambulance or corpman or woman to arrive. Concerning the military, I believe that all medics and everyone should be trained in these methods. It's a tremendous asset! (for a great read see: "The Story of Christian Science Wartime Activities, 1939-1946." The Christian Science Publishing Society, Boston, MA). There should be a movie made of the C.S. Chusets Wagon operating in bomb-torn London and elsewhere around the country in WWII and what the crew accomplished with God.  Today, every Squad Leader, Flight Commander, General or Admiral, Corpman or Corpwoman needs to read this. It's a powerful asset. Also, it shows the great respect the military medical people gave to CS Ministers and other helpers.  Also, there were CS Chaplains helping greatly. Many CS Ministers and others helped in hospitals, sometimes emptying bed pans and doing all sorts of jobs. It's great and very healing,  having such loving Godly types around.  By the way, knowing what I do about spiritual healing and its great power, I would have a spiritual healer along on all ambulance trips and right in the emergency room and operating room. I don't know of a better medicine than God-Love thinking permeating the air.     Unfortunately, the knowledge of Spiritual healing assets in the traditional medical world is often abysmal..and this is their best healing instrument and medicine!  A friend was in the hospital one time and asked for some church-healing literature. I brought it to her.  Then, I discovered that the nurse had thrown it out!  Horrors!  She had kicked out of the room Moses, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jesus, Paul, Peter, Luke the beloved physician and all the rest..inspired by God..experts dealing with bad, solving problems and healing! I thought, what an amazing anthropological phenomenon. Zinjanthropus is still living amongst us!        I should mention that anyone researching Spiritual healing in the military should check with the Chaplains for a wealth of information.  And, by the way, there is a great need for Military Chaplains of all faiths.  One will need a standard college degree, then a ministerial degree.                SPIRITUAL HEALERS ARE JUST GETTING STARTED WHEN OTHERS GIVE UP!  Manjo the Harvard Pathologist in his book  THE HEALING HAND a history of ancient medicine said that when the Dr's of ancient Greece gave up on patients and they sent them to the Asklepions - healing places of last resort - the patients were probably relieved that they didn't have to endure any more torturous treatments. They were now in the hands of kindly Asklepios. And, of course, Jesus is kindly, Loving - the Son of God - and God is Love according to John the Apostle. It is very comforting, this healing spirit - "The Comforter" mentioned in the Bible. Humans, especially when ill, need this "Comforting Spirit." There are needs here probably welded into human's spirit and souls  for millenia. Mary Baker Eddy was discussing the Comforting spirit in connection with Christian Science back just after the Civil War. (see her Science & Health With Key to the Scripture).  By the way, concerning spiritual/Bible healing research, The Christian Science Church in Boston has a beautiful new Mary Baker Eddy Library, a state-of-the-art facility.  Here is a great source for Spiritual healing research.  By the way, any denomination can benefit from all this.             NATIONAL HEALTH CARE. The study of Christian Spiritual/Bible healing is an important study, yet, as these lines are written, much debate is going on re. National Health Care, saving money, helping people in many ways (hopefully), and there has been no mention at all of this great area of proven healing.  It is unbelievable. Humans missing this  healing method and study. Some would say this is THE greatest healing method!  Who made the mineral iron of which scalpels are made? Think of the billions of dollars that could be saved...and all the lives that could be saved!       TWO GREAT HEALING SYSTEMS. So, we have two great healing systems - traditional medicine of Hippocrates and Spiritual/Bible/Jesus healing. There are also other methods of healing, e.g., Oriental medicine and many other methods. Both traditional  medical healing and spiritual healing are great, but totally different. Both have their successes and failures. Both keep plugging away trying to learn more. Some of the Spiritual Healers,  the Christian Scientists are one group,  believe that humans are really Spiritual creations and they speak of Life with a capital L as did Jesus their great healing  Professor.   Mary Baker Eddy did much study  re. the true Spiritual Nature of Man and thus the nothingness of materiality. It was a great discovery. She knew this Great Power (the control panel behind the material), and it healed immediately! See the Preface of Science & Health.  Therein she maintains that the Truth can be shown by demonstration (Jesus practiced the same thing). If you will study all of His healings carefully in the Bible you will notice that when He approached a situation to be healed He didn't waste any time dwelling on the materiality of the illness.  He didn't say,  "Oh my, that is a terrible case of this or that...or that bone is certainly a compound fracture...this won't be easy...or that person being possessed of a devil is the worst case seen on record...I better study this thing for a while"  No, He immediately went to All-powerful, spiritual God.  His method was spiritual.  He immediately kicked the Evil One or evil thinking behind Him as He did in the wilderness.  He knew the situation was healed immediately. And then He always thanked God for the healing.  This was always a very important part of the healing. It wasn't Jesus who did the healing, it was God, and He knew it.      Both traditional and Spiritual healing value life greatly.  However, personally, your writer can't recommend that the reader go out and start practicing spiritual healing, simply because I don't know how advanced one is. Also, there are legal issues with the young in some states, and this is good. Abraham Lincoln said: "Let law be the religion of the land."  And, of course, we are commanded to "render unto Caesar."  Some young folks as your writer in his early years don't know much about it.  My Mom knew this and called in an Osteopath, although much was still healed spiritually.   Of course, sometimes you don't have to know much about it and it works. And some kids are smarter than some adults about all this. More later.               Likewise, a first year medical student has a long way to go. In a way, spiritual healing is like traditional medical healing, a little 1st Aid can sometimes do wonders, but with spiritual healing, as with traditional healing, the more one knows the better. Then,  students in both fields will go on and do a lot of studying...for life. It's my own opinion that if one wants they can spend every bit as much time studying spiritual healing as students of traditional healing at medical schools - maybe even more...and afterwards there is still much study to do all through life.             This is all endlessly fascinating. For instance,  there have been people attend healing revivals, who just walk in with no knowledge of spiritual healing at all and suddenly are healed (Kathryn Kuhlman told of such a healing in one of her big meetings...mentioned in an autobiography). "God works in mysterious ways."  I don't know if humans can every figure it all out. This is where faith comes in, and Jesus spoke of this often. HEBREW TEMPLES, PLACES OF SPIRITUAL HEALING. Jesus spent most of His life studying His Father's Word and works and listening to wise old scholars in the Synagogue and  Temple.  It is a little known fact, but the old Hebrew Synagogues were places of Spiritual Healing too.  Moreover, the Priests didn't want ill persons going to pagan healers such as the Greek physicians or various other "alternate" practitioners (see: OXFORD DICTIONARY OF THE BIBLE).  Jesus had to have watched all this carefully  growing up. He was attracted to the synagogues with the wise scholars and old scrolls of scripture as a little spiritual magnet. Once, he vanished, and His  frantic parents finally found Him in The Temple. He also watched certain Synagogue and Temple- goers who had maladies and were diagnosed as "unclean" (say, some pigment loss on the skin) and  ejected from the Synagogue or Temple! Priests had to be perfect too (see Daily Life in the Time of Jesus by Henri Daniel-Rops - a Mentor-Omega Book, N.Y., 1962).   The priests probably just couldn't heal the problem of some Synagogue member, and they didn't want "the bad advertising" around!  There were a lot of these people wandering around in a strange lost world.  Not only had they lost their God and God priests and the Synagogue, but in many cases were very sick.  It had to have been agonizing for them.   Strangely, there are many "temple outcasts" today wandering around with no health insurance or wiped out financially by medical problems...victims of Washington, D.C. Temple Priests..and insurance temple priests..  "Get those temple outcasts (our failures) out of our sight and out of our mind...and out of our pocketbook!"  By the way, think of all the people out of work!  Think of the guilt.  But they haven't committed any sin.  They need healed spiritually to prevent some illness. Jesus can still heal.           Jesus had to have kept mental notes, and someday would heal the "unclean", who must have been burdened with needless "sin," and masses of other people in great need. Again, think of all the needless guilt and misery caused by humanist Temple Priests in Washington!  Jesus and His healing work absolutely infuriated the ancient healing priests of the Synagouges and the Temple too.  He had a perfect record!  And, just before Jesus commenced his full time practice or mission, His boyhood friend John The Baptist was baptising some of those "outcasts"  with  "sin," in the Jordan River,  getting rid of that terrible burden and no doubt healing many of them in the process. All the ordinary people loved John the Baptist, pure as could be, out in the countryside eating locusts and honey.  He said he definitely wasn't the Messiah, but He (Jesus) would follow.  Everyone loved him except some officials jealous of his power. A woman named Herodias especially hated him. She had left her husband one of the strange Herod sons and was living with another of the sons (Herod Antipas, Tetrarch of the Galilee area) in an adulturous relationship, and John had publicly condemed this relationship. Her equally strange daughter, Salome would see that John was killed, to please dear old Mom. But, that's another story. See my historical fiction story that is getting the final touching up and will be ready for publication soon.             WORST PROBLEMS HEALED. Jesus went on practicing spiritual healing practically every day for three years. Every moment was a healing experience of some kind. He would plunge right in to the worst situations, masses of sick and disabled people, demoniacs and others who "couldn't" be healed as well as all the "unclean" mentioned above. He faced all manner of illnesses squarely with God-Love-Spirit, powerful faith  and healed everything. He couldn't refer to specialists; He took on every case. The Greek physician Lucanus (Luke the beloved physician), who would write Acts about the Jesus story, we have today in the New Testament, was obviously greatly inspired by Jesus.  He probably didn't see Jesus, but he talked with those who did.  These were first hand accounts.   I would bet that Luke was healed himself of some problem(s) by Spiritual healing. You have heard the old saying "physician, heal thyself."...well, I believe spiritual healing is the best way for physicians to heal themselves. When they lose patient after patient exhausting all man/material means, that really would be depressing.  However, things are really in control of higher, truer theology. What they need to do is put these problems in hands of God. It is proven over and over scientifically that this really works.  My Aunt Bobo, who believed in Spiritual healing  wrote the following prayer:             "Do not try to find the way out.               Do not worry and do not doubt.               Cast thy burdens all on Him.               That dreadful load of fear and sin.               God hears your call.               He will all evil rout.                And Christ will show you                The rite way out.                                               Alice A. "Bo Bo" Freeling.              Medical people also have masses of material they must remember and "excavate" in computer banks, and , then, apply in the correct diagnosed way.   Again, they need to keep in good graces with God,  the Creator of all the details (that were and are good) and ask for His help.  An old doctrineer named Calvin of the Reformation came up with the philosophy Predestination that everything was all worked out and Joe or Jane say are predestined to die young, or have some affliction, so, too bad, just quit.  And the Dr. reaches the end of his material rope, and says "too bad,"...so the patient quits!! The pseudo-material God has spoken! Groan.  A politician in Washington seeing all the human brick walls will just quit....that's the way it is.    So get out  one's theological machete for it will be needed much for hacking through the  human-material-limiting jungle.  God, of course, is totally unlimited. How can the creator of every tiny good atom by limited? Just know that Jesus actually proved scientifically all of which He spoke.  It is all there in the Journal of Spirituality...and also proven every day by millions.             If you have a patient who believes in predestination matched with a healer who has hit the wall medically, they are both confronted with the proverbial, material, brick wall.  Answer: go around the wall - following a spiritual path.  Jesus and all the other inspired characters have a well beaten path.       I should mention at this point, and medical researchers trying to understand spiritual healing must take note....the only way to get into and benefit by the world of the Spirit is to be helped by Jesus of Nazareth.  He said: "I am the way, the light and the life."  So, the laboratory researcher or anyone else wanting to benefit, must turn off the material lab equipment and just sit down and commence studying Jesus.  It may all look  like a difficult task, but Jesus added.."my yoke is light."  So, the benefits are enormous and not so hard after all in this study.                THE ATOMIC POWERFUL UNSEEN WORLD. It comes as a surprise to many  today that the unseen world is this powerful or more powerful than they can even comprehend and can't understand why anyone would want to use such an "absurd, nothing, thing." Critics say such "primitive" campfire Theology can be explained simply by our human neuro-science, or psychology.    The Man-Humanist way is the way they proclaim in their priestly humanist robes. . What else could there possibly be?  The Humanists have told us that Man is perfectly able to solve all problems himself. There is no God!  The problem is, they can't suddenly see the entire picture, and are locked in the material world (as opposed to the Spiritual world...behind and controlling the material),  nor have they had the shocking, amazing experiences of witnessing spiritual healing (as your writer). Proof of God! Believe me, that will shake one up, especially a hardened scientific anthropologist as your writer. Jesus knew this "block" and with spiritual healing proved that His God methods worked and thus there really is a God, and He was the Son of God. One would think this would convince even the most hardened unbeliever, but the Pharisees and other church officials - running on fear  that they would soon be out of work - persecuted Him greatly. They threw all kinds of invalidation at Him.  They were really insecure.  Even Saul of Tarsus (later Paul) the fair-haired boy of the Sanhedren in Jerusalem led a persecution movement. He and his cohorts stoned to death Stephen who became a Saint...as did Paul himself having been struck down blind on the Road to Damascus on his way to persecute Christians there, and, then, going on to carry Christianity to the world.  Critics of good and Love have a hard time.  Paul, by the way, went on to be  a great healer in God himself; he even healed himself of some afflictions including the bite of a serpent.  Luke the physician travelled some with Paul, and witnessed even more healing. What  experiences! Taylor Caldwell the famous novelist wrote a novel about Luke the Glorious Physician. She had been fascinated with Luke since she was a little girl. She poured all of her considerable talents and research skills (get ready, the medical scenes are very graphic!) into this novel.  It is one of your writer's favorites.      WITNESSING PERSONAL SPIRITUAL HEALING. I find the whole subject of spiritual healing so fascinating that I wouldn't miss the study for anything. I have actually seen spiritual healing work in country churches back in the hills here in the mid-west U.S. and seen in my family growing up. We would have never made it through the Great Depression without the Bible and methods of Jesus. My Mom and her Mom, my Grandmother, truly believed "all was possible with God." They studied all the Sunday School things diligently. This is all so amazing. My Dad was an artist. You probably couldn't pick a worse occupation to try and survive the depression...a so-called "starving artist." But this is all Man-material thinking, not all powerful, unlimited God, positive thinking...knowing that humans are made in His spiritual (perfect) likeness and good (Genesis). But it's even more than positive thinking or faith or belief. There must be guidance from the Bible to get in touch with "The quickening spirit." What an adventure we had battling all kinds of dumb material, limiting "beliefs" (so referred to by Christian Scientists). The Great Depression as our current Depression, is, in fact, one big limiting "belief."  All the negative stuff has nothing to do with good unlimited God, who is just waiting for us to get out of the septic tank of life and reach out to Him.   I remember for one thing that we had no fear. It's a tremendous weapon against bad non-God stuff. At the time I couldn't comprehend all the good going on with help of God-thinking in the family.  I have had to do a lot of reconstruction.             FOR THE STATITICIANS. Medical researcher statisticians might be interested in the fact that Mom and my Grandmother, who studied the Bible and healing methodology diligently, didn't suffer illnesses as much as Dad and I, although we benefited greatly from all the God-Love-non-fear, truly good things, and which  pulled us through.  Again, this is seen in retrospect.  As bull headed as I was (and still have to battle), it would take me many years to see what a great, family, spiritual treasure I had and from which I benefited.           THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN.  Vance Randolph the famed ethnographer of Ozarks culture here in the central U.S. (an area as big as the country of France), was very upset once witnessing an attempt at spiritual healing by Pentacostals, and the patient was lost.  But, the thing is, he didn't mention all the healings and other good accomplished by spiritual healing here in the hills. The ethnographer just can't become myopic. It is easier to go with the trend, rather than to stop and excavate.  A country minister friend of mine, told me of some amazing healings in little churches...such as a man healed of blindness. His eyes had an opaque look, which cleared.  It was dramatic.  The Apostle Paul himself had some kind of eye problem.  Some opthomologists believe it was probably Opthalmia. He also had a speech problem. Apparently, both problems were healed.  Paul prayed a lot.  In fact tradition has it that his knees were so calloused from praying, that he was called "Old Camel Knees." And, of course praying is the main healing method, although there is more involved than praying. One must know how to pray, and study up and have experiences to increase one's personal spiritual reservoir, mentioned later.        OLD TRADITIONAL STORIES NOT TO BE DISCOUNTED.  I mentioned above a tradition about Paul "Old Camel Knees."  This made me think that such stories are not to be quickly tossed aside, and we need to factor in as we proceed to excavate down through the levels of history and prehistory. .      For years the old Norse Sagas about Lief Erickson and Vineland were thought to be fable, but lo and behold were found to be right on, with Norse settlement finds in North America. And, old stories that have religious connections have much more possibilities, because they are so sacred, and people don't want to do anything wrong about sacred things. The Gods would get them!              USE OF ALL METHODS OF HEALING. In my own family, battling the Great Depression and World War II (with shortages of everything and much anxiety in the culture, and friends and neighbors being lost in combat, and great social, migratory movements to war plants and military bases), and Dad helping solve Gremlins causing B-25s to crash... we used both Spiritual Healing and traditional medicine and even some folk medicine.  The Spiritual healing was the best. My Mom and Grandmother, living with us, were the experts on Spiritual healing.   The Bible is a great fear-fighter, and has much helpful wisdom.  On the other hand, if there was an illness that wasn't being healed by Spiritual methods, Mom would be the first to call the Dr.  Sometimes traditional medicine was helpful, but sometimes not.              We weren't adverse to traditional medical methods. Of course, the Spiritual was always kept above and used to great effect.    My Grandfather Miller, a businessman in Kirksville, Missouri was a good friend of Dr. Stil, founder of the Osteopathic method.  Grandad and some other businessmen would take Dr. Stil along on train trips to football games.  Dr. Stil would give them osteopathic treatments.  Then, the Dr. came to Grandad, and told him of his osteological research, and he wanted to start a school based on his findings.  Grandad was a wheeler-dealer, with properties far and wide.  He owned big plantations along the Mississippi and Arkansas Rivers, among others, so, he was able to help him in a major way.  So, our Drs. were Osteopaths when available. An Osteopath, Dr. Birdsong,  brought me into the world at Columbia, Missouri at the University of Missouri hospital. Later, he helped me when I had whooping cough in the 3rd Grade, that took me three months to recover.  And I am sure that there were many prayers from Mom and Grandmother, Gee Gee, always providing a great healing atmosphere of God-Love.  I could always feel this Spiritual confidence, or maybe Spiritual vibes of some sort, definitely there were no panic vibes....but didn't really realize it until later on in life when I didn't have it around.  Then, I was in somewhat of a fix because I hadn't really studied it enough. My Mom and Grandmother had tried, but most of it went over my head.  This stuff required too much thinking, and my intellectual level was more hunting, fishing, camping, arrowhead-hunting, archery, basketball and softball (unfortunately, not school either!).                  A few years later, a Branson Osteopath  diagnosed my appendicites at Hollister, near Branson, with no hospitals or clinics near at that time. My condition had progressed, (I was a little Spartan river rat and kept it to myself for too long) and, again, it took the best of prayers, plus Osteopathic surgeons working diligently in Springfield, Missouri  to get me through. There was a fight to recover.  Again, there was always a Spiritual confidence from Mom and Grandmother, that things were o.k. in God.  This wasn't any delusional escapist thinking but knowing about all the factors involved in God good..the "wisdom of the ages".  There is a wealth of ultimate positive thinking here. It jibes with "the quickening Spirit" of Paul.  It is like tapping into the ultimate mother lode if you can do it.  Also, Jesus had to constantly deny the Evil One and his negative thinking and keep him at bay.                     Dad came down with a puzzling  illness. An M.D. checked him over and diagnosed "Flu." The Dr. gave him a can of salve for some reddish bite spots on his upper torso. I watched as the Dr. examined him in the living room.  This was a disastrous diagnosis.  It turned out that six months later after a long illness, near death, and much misery and loss of savings,  and recovery for six more months, that he really had a form of tick fever "Tuleremia." So, fortunately, we had Spiritual healing methods always in operation.  I'm sure that pulled all of us through. Today, I'm sure that any Dr. would be concerned with the inflamed spots and  realize a blood test was needed.  Antibiotics came out about that time, but the local Dr. didn't know about it.  Dad, finally had to drag himself on a train to Nevada, Missouri where he heard that there was a Dr. who knew about an antibiotic called "Streptomycin."  However, it was too late for that.  The Dr. said he had enough antibodies in his system that no tick would ever get near him again.  The Dr. prescribed a bottle of beer each day to get him back in shape and sent him home.  Dad didn't care for beer, but home cooking (the best of all medicines) was just fine and so was Bible healing poured on as usual.                          I had to be the man of the house at age 13.  Fortunately, we had some chickens.  After school each day I had to carry a 10 lb. sack of feed, one day pellets, another day corn chops, up an Ozarks mountain. Then, the next day I would have to carry a sack of groceries.  The folks' war bond savings ran out.  Fortunately, you can live on Chickens.  I killed them and picked the feathers after pouring on scalding water. This had to be done in bitter cold winter sometimes.  I cleaned the chicken house, fed them, gathered eggs, battled blacksnakes in the chicken house, and got in fire wood, sometimes going back in the woods and dragging wood to the house. Logs had to be split.  Mom and Grandmother would cut up the chickens after I picked the feathers.  Then, I would take and sell the chicken meat to a restaurant. We had no car.  The shoe leather express to the rescue. Again, fortunately, the Spiritual healing methods were supplying an atmosphere of confidence all 'round.  Jesus "The Comforter" was always there.  The true Spiritual picture of good was there.  This is powerful medicine in many ways.  I didn't mind all the activity at all, and was glad to be able to help out.  But, I was so fortunate to be able to work in that positive Spiritual atmosphere.              AN OZARK HEALING ANGEL. The only time I can remember my Grandmother Gee Gee being ill is when she was taking care of my Sister and I, and we all came down with food-poisoning ...butterscotch pudding being the culprit.  I recall lying on the living room couch when a knock was heard at the door.  I struggled to my feet and opened the door.  There, lo, was an old guy with white flowing hair and beard.  He wore faded bib overalls. He had a big, old-fashioned scythe by his side.  He asked if he could cut some weeds.  Great Heavens, here was Father Time...The Grim Reaper staring me right in the face!  Holy cats, had we all bought the ticket?  On the contrary, being very perceptive, he quickly noticed that this house had been hit by some kind of plague.  He diagnosed the problem and prescribed scraping some soot with a spoon from up inside the fireplace, mixing it in a glass of water and ordered all to drink.  I did as he said, and it worked (or the thought of it worked!).  Oh, by the way, he got the job of weed-cutting, this old healer - father time of the hills.  So, here is another type of medicine ...folk medicine, although it is totally material, the opposite of Spiritual.  And, of course, my Grandmother was praying away through it all, providing that great healing atmosphere and probably bringing a healing answer to the door...a healing Angel of the hills!  This experience I am sure helped inspire my series of newspaper columns much later in life on Ozarks Folk Medicine...and maybe one of the very elements  of healing helping inspire this writing right now!                In a "Doubting Thomas" period of my life,, I rebelled against Spiritual healing (not realizing I was rebelling against the Bible).  I tried several religions, most being very conservative and all proclaimed the philosophy that anything that wasn't exactly word-for-word in the Bible was wrong. And there was much limiting, fear-mongering, doom and gloom doctrine involved.  But these religions didn't provide that great healing,  Loving, comforting, Godly-Spiritual, unlimited  atmosphere that I had experienced when young and which went back to the true Loving nature of Jesus.           FINALLY, TIME TO EXCAVATE SPIRITUAL HEALING.  At long last, I decided to really dig in and explore this spiritual healing methodology of my Mom's and Grandmother's. I couldn't escape the fact that there was something exceptionally  good there.  I did so totally programmed that "It must be per the Bible."     I commenced reading Science & Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She had many other writings, but this was her Magnum Opus.  This book alone has healed countless persons. Also, there are healing testimonies in the back in a chapter entitled: "Fruitage." (many recommend that this chapter be read first). I would read a little and say "Well, this isn't per the Bible," and toss it aside for a while.   But, being as stubborn as an Ozark mule,  I would later read a page or two more....and see that, yes, that point was of the Bible.  Hmmnn.  Then, I would read some more, and go through the same muleish routine....over and over. And, anything that was new to me was proven scientifically by her to work, and, so, was right on.  It finally began to dawn on me that Eddy was writing in a literary, scientific way (highly intelligent in God...using prayer every inch of the way, and also the Bible every inch of the way...and using the Spiritual quotient as a research tool....a great Rosetta Stone), (her church services have readings from the Bible, moreso than any other church I know except the Quakers) excavating all of the Bible trying to find especially just how Jesus healed, but the entire Bible is involved and important.  She had been healed by the Bible of a proclaimed fatal problem due to a fall,  diagnosed by M.Ds, and she wanted to find out more about this amazing process seen right there in the Scriptures and surely the Scriptures are not limited today (as explained in Scriptures).  This turned out to be the greatest detective work in biblical archaeology since Jean Francois Champollian cracked the Egyptian Glyphs! But this Bible research involving the exposing of the nothingness of materiality and much more, was even more important.  This project involved learning all about Spiritual healing, of much greater benefit to Mankind!  However, Champollian may still help. Did Moses learn anything about Spiritual healing from the Egyptians?  Moses had to have been one of the mentors of Jesus.      THE HEALING PICTURE REVEALED.  Finally, Eddy discovered how it all worked, analyzing the material vs. the Spiritual, the ups and downs, the backwards and forwards and insides and out of the Bible...and came up with a "system" of healing ...and all being totally based on the Bible and the works of Jesus...and always keeping God and Jesus foremost.  And she proved it scientifically by thorough, "verified demonstration" before presenting to the public (again. Preface of S&H). Her work was and is stupendous.  She had actually discovered things in the Bible - right there before everyone else's eyes for ages and missed!  The doctrineers, lodged in material things, would read about all the healings in the Bible, but just couldn't do it themselves, maybe do some spotty healings, and people knew that was possible sometimes but not consistently, or get to the heart of things...a "system."        I believe that her God-inspired work surpasses Einstein's MC squared. It is God who made the atom and light beam that bent around the star!  We are talking super super power here!  Truly, this is "beyond physics"  "metaphysics" ...as the ancient Greeks first knew.  I would not have thought of the word metephysics if I hadn't read Eddy's S&H.  The Einstein comparison is my own. The materialist would probably go into shock at this, but I will stick with it.       Someone like me, loaded down heavily with limiting theological dogma, and being a  total nerdy materialist and clutching the equally limiting,  pseudo-religion of Anthropology...about as material a science as you can get...with its big dichotemy of Biology (loaded with the theology (for many) of Darwinism (very material ) and all kinds of visually obvious (but material) life (small letter l as opposed to the capital letter L of Jesus)....plus the other big area of Anthropology....Culture (more material)....and one has some barriers to overcome to get to what Jesus was preaching.   Fortunately, someone without all this debris blocking thinking, I am sure can much more easily see it all and benefit more quickly.....as "a little child" of which Jesus spoke.         THINKING REQUIRED (OUCH!). Another discovery for me, is that thinking is required in Spiritual/Bible studies (Eddy points this out right off the bat in S&H)..and really one finds how advanced in Spiritual-God thinking  Jesus really was.  Of course, once you get on to it, using God in his endlessly unlimited way (this and much more all pointed out by Eddy...a really great teacher!), one can overcome any  barriers as did Jesus.  I am still learning, but improving constantly.  It is all quite a spiritual adventure!                  SPIRITUAL HEALING AND TRADITIONAL MEDICINE ARE BOTH GREAT. Concerning both traditional medicine...and Spiritual healing, I wouldn't discount either method.  They are both great. I respect the traditional medical field greatly. Mary Baker Eddy said to do just this. And, there is much to be learned about both methods by their practitioners in the future...and there are also other healing methods.   It's exciting.  I do believe that traditional medical healers and all the other healers should keep God-Spirit paramount in their work. I am positive it will help them and their patients greatly.  And, they will have many patients who believe there is a higher, spiritual, power involved.  I am constantly running across traditional medical Drs. who have discovered this Spiritual healing, and they are very enthusiastic.      A LOVING MEDICAL EXPERIMENT. For an experiment, I would put a big apothecary jar, labelled "GOD-LOVE...The Ultimate Healer and Apothecary" in a very prominent place in a medical Dr's  office - or anywhere - and see what happens!  See if business picks up.   Spiritual healers know that God-Love is the most healing thing there is...it is The universal pharmacopia.  Different countries had different colored apothecary jars.  France used pastel blue.  I remember seeing a pink one also in Dr. Leyerly's Reconstructed Apothecary Shop (I was curator of this one time in a museum).  Some jars are white.  Dr. Leyerly, who had been a fill-in pharmacist at the Mayo Clinic, often visited, and told me about apothecary/pharmacy things....and I took copious notes (again, the anthropological documentor).  This helped out later, when I did some medical science writing on societal drug-addiction problems.  By the way, Spiritual healing can indeed heal drug-addiction problems  (see: www.spirituality.com).  In fact, I believe this is  the best method.  It helped me to quit cigarettes/chewing tobacco(yuk!),the pipe and any tobacco thing I could get my addicted hands on.      ANOTHER RELATED HEALING.  One day a sedan pulled up in the driveway.  I looked out the window and here came a man to the door.  He had a book in his hand.  I greeted him, and he told me a story.  He said that once he was an alcoholic. Nothing worked to heal him. Then, he said he came across a certain type of the Bible - a reduced vocabulary version called GOOD NEWS FOR MODERN MAN (about an 800 word vocabulary)- and this Bible, which he could understand, had healed him of alcoholism. He was very excited about this, and took me out to his car and showed me the trunk, which was full of this version.  He was selling copies, and I bought one.  I later learned that the vocabulary was around 800 words.  This all brings up a good point that language - words - understanding - is so important in healing.  Spiritual healing can become a little nerdy at times (which I am probably demonstrating greatly herein!!).  I try to translate in understandable terms, but it is not easy. And as most of the Theology writers quickly find, that one reason it is not easy is because God is so vast. This is one big reason why just having faith is great! But, of course, we nerdy types have to make a Supreme Court case out of everything.       By the way, if an 800 word Bible can do such a tremendous job of healing, just think what the King James Version with around 6,500 word vocabulary can do!!!                   THE LONELY PATIENT?  In my weekly newspaper column series, "Physicians of Love,"  I created a hypothetical hospital room showing how a lonely patient  (with a big green dollar sign on her gown) was really not so lonely and being cared for greatly by many....some not even in the hospital.  A cleanup man is saying a quickie prayer as he mops away.  Some women in the laundry department are saying prayers, and the patient is literally covered with Love.  Friends around the world are praying. Some don't even know her.  The Dr. and Nurse, even though in a hurry are saying those little quickie, positive,  prayer thoughts, explained by Mary Baker Eddy.  People in the food department of the Hospital are saying prayers.  The head diatician is saying a prayer.  And the hard pressed head of the Hospital is saying a prayer.  This patient is really not lonely and fortunately has many loving friends.  We all have more friends than we realize.  And, of course, all-powerful, loving Yahweh is always there every second in every cell (the great Spiritual Genome) watching over His creation.  And His Son Jesus is always there. He said: "I will be with thee alway." So, He has got to be there spiritually and healing away.   All this is big medicine!               THE ULTIMATE ACE IN THE HOLE.  Everyone should study Spiritual healing methods, because they will have something in case there is a wrong diagnosis as with my Dad...or nothing else is working....and also to help the traditional medics with their work if they help.  What happens, and this is an old saying, is that when one finally gets around to using Spiritual healing, they find out how effective it is, and wonder why they hadn't been using it all along!       SPIRITUAL INNOCULATION.  Another example of why everyone should be up on Spiritual healing is in the area of Spiritual innoculation.  Right now, there is a major, global, flu problem with not enough flu shots.  People need to know about Spiritual innoculation.  I would guess that there are millions of people who do know about Spiritual innoculation and are praying away and knowing the Truth.  But, I hate to think of how many people don't have a clue about this.  With all the flu news on TV, in the papers and on the radio and computer, there is never any mention at all about Spiritual innoculation!  They just don't know about it.  Material drug companies, innoculations, procedures, hypodermics, human supply (not unlimited God supply), mortality are the only thing they are programmed to know.  What about all the great study available on Spiritual healing, proven to work?  (See:  spirituality.com).      THE SPIRITUAL HEALING GOLDEN THREAD. Protestant churches promote spiritual healing in various degrees. I believe more and more are getting on board. There are different approaches. The Christian Scientists had the first and only movement with Jesus' methods scientifically analyzed and applied by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866 just after the Civil War. There were a lot of healing blank places in history.  The Catholics were always big on Spiritual healing, but there were blanks in the  Dark Ages.  The great Jesuit scholars and other scholars Catholic and Protestant can no doubt help us out in many ways.  We must always thank the Catholics for carrying the Christian torch down through the ages, through persecution after persecution...conquest after conquest,  and ages of darkness.   But, amazingly and miraculously they carried the light in Monastaries.  No doubt times were harder than we can even comprehend, but that light had to have brightened up the lives of the torch-bearers and serfs out in the countryside.   It is all quite a story, and we must thank the stalwart in God old Christians, who knew they had a good thing,  or we probably wouldn't have any Chritianity at all today!  There are so many of these close calls in religious history.  The great religion of the Osage that came out of the Mississippi Temple Mound Culture of the Southeast - that I would rank right up there with the Great Religions of today - only had a 10 year window of opportunity of being saved - by the Pawnee, Smithsonian anthropologist Francis la Flesche. This is one of the great American stories - an amazing miracle (See: The Osage and the Invisible World; from the works of Francis La Flesche, introduced and Edited by Garrick A. Bailey, Univ. of Okla. Press, 1955).  And, of course, the God of the Osage was is Wakonda (The Great Spirit). They also had totem sub-dieties.  Get ready for one of the most complicated religions of all time...maybe THE most complicated! Think Hinduism is complicated? You haven't seen anything yet!              END OF CIVIL WAR A MILESTONE IN THE STUDY OF SPIRITUAL HEALING. After Eddy's monumental research in 1866 (followed by a number of revisions of S&H), came the Pentacostals and Charismatics. They have large healing get-togethers. It's a growing movement...the largest of Christianity today.       AMY SEMPLE MCPHERSON in California healed (I should say God does the healing and am sure all healers would agree). Your writer is doing some more research on her.         Reverend ORAL ROBERTS and family have done much healing work, again, with God "The Holy Spirit" actually doing the healing.  Roberts founded Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.   Reverend Roberts was healed of a severe case of tuberculosis when a boy by a minister using the Holy Spirit.  Robers was coughing up blood.  His older brother had to carry him to the service.  Roberts  has gone on to heal countless people using this same healing Holy Spirit.  See: his book:  EXPECT A MIRICLE.  His son Richard  is doing much healing work, ministering to many.              REVEREND KATHRYN KUHLMAN was a wonderful healer in God. She was inspired by Oral Roberts.  Again, your writer is still researching her tremendous works. .       BENNY HINN. Kathryn Kuhlman and Oral Roberts inspired Benny Hinn, a Charismatic,  who has used the Holy Spirit to accomplish much healing and bring countless souls to Christ globally.   Reverend Hinn was healed of stuttering by the Holy Spirit. He had stuttered all his life right up to the minute he gave his first sermon.  See his book: HE TOUCHED ME. Reverend Hinn even had a big meeting in an Arab country, Jordan. He was originally from the Holy Land and had grown up in the Greek Orthodox Faith, but discovered the Charismatic Faith when his family moved to Canada.       NEWS MEDIA MISSING A GREAT STORY. There are many many more ministers on TV or travelling around the country at church meetings. Some of these meetings are enormous, some small.  There is a great need, a hunger really,  for Christ out there. And many many churches of various denominations are engaged in Spiritual healing and also saving souls at meetings large and small around the world, plus using TV and Radio (FM/AM and short wave) day and night. We see a monumental healing and soul saving picture and ministerial movement globally. All preaching is really healing...the healing of hearts, minds and bodies with God.  It is a big story and missed by the media.  Why?  The media has become intellectualized-humanized (really, very arrogant).  Of course, this is a big story, and goes all the way back to the so-called "Age of Enlightenment" where humanism-atheism really began to get organized in 17th Century. The atheist philosophers all made the same gigantic mistake.  They neglected to really examine the Scriptures in detail. The looked mostly at corrupt church officials and the Patiricians of France. Of course, France finally had a revolution.  What is so great is that our Founders in the U.S. watched all this closely and didn't get suckered into Atheism of this "Enlightenment."  They were too smart...fortunately for us....although, unfortunately we have allowed the humanist-atheist movement to take over schools and Washington and society in general...one of the big blunders of history.  And we wonder what is hitting us!  (see: info on "Age of Enlightenment"  Will and Aerial Durant's The Age of Voltaire....one of the volumes in their stupendous  The Story of Civilization series,  Part IX,  Simon & Schuster, N.Y. 1965).             MORE ON THE CATHOLICS.  As mentioned, the Catholics have a great, spiritual healing history. This is just a working theory, but following back in time a healing thread from the testimonials mentioned above found in the Shrine of the Lady of Guadalupe, who knows, that "thread" may be unbroken and go all the way back to Jesus Himself!  The Church historian Eusebius said that Christian Spiritual healing and even the raising of the dead was going on during the time of the Holy Fathers (students of the Apostles).      Whenever you get a group of people together who are very devout (Jesus said two is enough!)(but it could be many thousands!), they are bound to notice an improvement in health! In the Dark Ages, many couldn't even write to record healings, but many surely found God - even peasants. In the Dark Ages the religious centers were Monastaries. They were custodians of manuscripts and writing...written history...and there was no doubt a great deal of oral history as well.   There had to have been many healings in those old sanctuaries, although many healings, as today, probably were not recorded. There were healing Saints. Father Pio of Italy healed with God in our time. He is beatified - now a Saint. There is much healing at Lourdes a shrine in France. Many devotees from all over the world visit there. Again, I doubt that all good accomplished there is documented (actually, only God would know all the good)..and no doubt there is a lot of delayed action healing. God is working away as always. As Pope John Paul II said, the cross of Christ remains solid while the miseries of the world revolves around it.  See his book: CROSSING THE THRESHOLD OF HOPE.             The Orthodox Greek Church has a tradition of healing (I learned this in Benny Hinn's book). This Church may be the key to tracing that "golden thread of healing." But, trace any known threads' back in time for this History of Healing Spiritually. And, I have no idea about healing in the Russian Orthodox Church. This Church would be  interesting for us to research in our Spiritual healing studies. The Church has to have a healing tradition with what they have gone through with cold, atheistic, Marxism-Leninism days. The study of their healing Saints would be fascinating. The diaries of the friends of Pope John Paul II in Poland, who also suffered much persecution from Nazis and Communists, would also be of much healing interest.  Also India is a vast laboratory of spiritual healing. And just think of Chinese healing possibilities.  A lot of research is needed on all this. Each denomination or sect or main religion has their own healing history. Put all that together and there is an enormous library and story of good.  This needs to get out to people.      Also, keep in mind that all such research about spiritual healing can be very cost effective. Any problem healed with God is free...and there are no medication side effects!           ANCIENT ACCOUNTS OF SPIRITUAL HEALING. Here's another interesting side study...the healing with mythological gods by the Greeks at their Asklepions - another form of spiritual healing and involving dreams. I think it is interersting to contemplate that there were probably some great old writings on spiritual healing in antiquity that went up in smoke when the Library of Alexandria was burned in 40 B.C. by Romans. Also, there were probably some spiritual healing materials in the old library of Pergamon, another famous library, this one in Asia Minor. There had to have been treatises on standard medicine, and maybe the old medical doctors added their comments on spiritual healing. And no doubt there were voluminous treatises on medicine and healing from ancient Egypt that were also lost. There was much competition between Pergamon and Alexandria, so, I have a hunch that "Agents" were out actually searching for interesting manuscripts. And people knew they were looking for manuscripts. Just think of the ancient manuscripts found by peasants in jars and caves in that dry land being brought to the great museum/libraries. But, then the Library of Alexandria burned around 40 B.C. when the Roman soldiers were there.           There is an old saying that when one door closes, God opens another one...or a window! We still have the greatest of the sources, The Bible! But, of course, we historians/prehistorians like to contemplate possibilities still out there of ancient manuscripts in jars buried in the dry sands. Keep your eyes open! There are no doubt some lost letters of Paul and others - probably in some dry hiding place. Just one such epistle with mention of healing by Jesus - or by Paul who did a lot of healing - would be more important for mankind today than all the gold in King Tut's Tomb. But mainly  think about all the good healing information we do have!       We will venture forth on one of the most exciting practical expeditions around at some great sites around the old Mediterranean, elsewhere and even here in the Americas and think of Jesus' good work often, and also the healing work of Old Testament figures. And also thinking of the awesome discovery of Mary Baker Eddy on how the healing worked and the great work of many other Spiritual  healers.        SHAMANS. Here in the Americas there is also healing work of the native shamans. The shamans were in touch with the Great Spirit. The mighty Osage here in the midwest U.S. called this Spirit "Wakonda." They were a very advanced culture. The Osage are amazing. Their fantastically complicated religion came out of the Great Mississippi Culture of the southeast U.S.  Those ancestors built great temple mounds; you can see some today in various parks.  Cahokia east of St. Louis has some of these giant mounds. The Osage  didn't have mounds, although the main group, "The Big Osage," lived atop a big plateaulike hill just east of Nevada, Missouri.  And, there was another mound just north of there called "Blue Mound."  Hmmnn, that's interesting isn't it! (see: the section on the Osage in this site, www.worldarchaeologicalsociety.com).      When excavating along the Missouri River, we archaeologists working on a Natl. Park Service, Smithsonian dig, found polished bone tubes at an old Arickira site (at mouth of Cheyenne River...in South Dakota). The Shamans would place the end of the tube on, say, the patient's stomach (where a pain was located), and then suck on the other end of tube. The Shaman would have a little pebble hidden in their mouth, and, then, spit out the "evil" pebble. The device and method must have worked, because we found several of these tubes!! That's the work of the mind...and involves the placebo effect...but the methods of Jesus were really different. He actually got in touch with a true unseen power - the "quickening Spirit" of Paul - and put to great use. He removed mental blocks of sin, loved to see faith and did much praying. Mary Baker Eddy wrote all about it in her S&H. And, at the end of the work is a chapter of actual healing testimonials. Many have people read this first. And, there is more than faith involved...it's knowing exactly how to utilize, to tap into,  the "Quickening Spirit." And, of course, one of the big tools is Prayer. We'll try to add a little to the reconstruction of those old days - the cultural backdrop -...but the methodology and healings of Jesus have already been figured out by Eddy. It's a stupendous discovery.       MORE HEALING BONES!  In connection with the healing tubes of bones used by the Arickira mentioned above, there is another type of bone used for healing.  The Chippewa medicine men used some short bones (tubes) about 2 "  long.  They would swallow these tubes and with help of a rattle pointed here and there on the patient...and also helped by encantations...this would help them find exactly where the illness was located.  As usual, don't scoff at something that looks totally out of the box; there just may be something there we are missing.  Slow down, and commence analyzing. The mind and the Great Spirit have endless facets.  Something "impossible" may really be working!!  Put on your double billed Sherlock Holmes' cap and get out your magnifying glass!!  (for more on bone-swallowing and also miracles of the Chippewa, medicine, men, jugglar, miracles see Chippewa Music, by Frances Densmore, Smithsonian Institution Bureau of American Ethnology Bulletin 45, Washington, Gov't. Printing Office, 1910).        TRADITIONAL MEDICAL RESEARCH; BUT A BIG JUMP TO THE WORLD OF SPIRITUAL RESEARCH. Modern medical researchers have tried experiments with varying success in area of spiritual healing, but most researchers in this area can't seem to get out of the realm of materialism. They are locked in. They can only go so far; and this is why some of their experiments fail. They must take a giant leap and make use of the Spirit World - "the quickening spirit" of St. Paul. It has a mind of its own. In fact, an all powerful mind of its own...and atomic powerful at that. Researchers are presently refining the human Genome getting down to infinitesimal entities therein...but this is still material. Eventually, they will hit the material wall. They then will have to make a big jump to the world of the spirit! The Spiritual Genome! This is like going off the ten foot board at the swimming pool! "Yikes, there's "nothing out there!"...or is there!!!??? (Eddy tells all about the material and spiritual world in S&H).             THE PLACEBO EFFECT AND EQUALLY INTERESTING NOCEBO EFFECT.  But perhaps the traditional medical healers are not as far away from Spiritual healing as we think. Actually, they are touching on the perimeters, but have a long way to go.  There is a phenomenon called "the placebo effect,"   There is an article in the latest TIME: "How a Sugar Pill Can Heal (or Hurt) You."  (Nov. 2, 2009).  Therein we learn about Army nurses in WW II when out of morphine would inject a soldier with salt water, and tell them it would help...and it did.  Hence; the placebo effect.  Then, they mention the Nocebo effect...a reverse effect, whereby if someone thinks a medicine will do them harm - it will!!    Jesus knew about the nocebo effect, for He put the Devil behind him....not allowing Himself to be influenced by the Negative One. He didn't want to be affected by the nocebo effect.  Jesus said "..for he is a liar, and the father of it (the lie). In other words the Liar is really nothing, unless we buy into it. And we all buy into a lot of his dumb, bad stuff!!! (Mary Baker Eddy pointed this out in S&H).  The problem with the placebo effect and Spiritual healing is that the placebo - the sugar pill - or say, some special root from someplace or whatever is given importance by humans, is really material and the human mind giving it importance is material.  Whereas on the other hand, God and God things are spiritual!  We are back to a major chasm again!  Mary Baker Eddy knew all about the placebo effect and wouldn't be surprised at all at the term "nocebo effect."  She ran into this  early on when she was a holistic physician trying all kinds of methods to heal.  This is  why she cautions against thinking about illness.  See her S&H and all of her works for that matter.   The mind is powerful (if given power).....and God/Mind is even more powerful!   Lots to study here.  The main text is S&H Eddy is far ahead of modern researchers on placebo studies. She said that it isn't the human mind (small m) that heals but God Mind. One can immediately see why many healing experiments conducted by traditional medical researchers don't always work. They use and think totally material ways. They must advance to the world of the spirit. They have to start studying the Bible. And the first text that they will have to study is Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. The Spiritual healers are working with the "Mother Lode."(God-Love).   "The Mother lode"  is a combination Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine,  Harvard School of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Hospital...and more!  Modern medical researchers will be amazed and can increase their healing percentages enormously...and it will help them too, personally. Physician heal thyself (with spiritual healing).                  USING ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY TO STUDY HISTORY AND PREHISTORY OF SPIRITUAL HEALING.  I thought that since we are in archaeology, anthropology (study of Man and Woman and Child) why not explore this Spiritual healing story.  I have many questions, and the reader probably does too.  We might be able to add some color and archaeological background, and no telling what we might excavate? We have the Bible and many scholarly works and especially the works in this area of Mrs. Eddy. She wrote in a very scientific, scholarly, literary way, which is also an inspiration for us. She was way ahead of her time and still is. Her discoveries about spiritual healing are great. Of monumental importance to scholarship/biblical archaeology and the human race, she carefully studied the healings of Jesus and the entire Bible, and with much prayer and Godly inspiration figured out how it all worked, proved it scientifically in the spiritual healing lab (she healed countless people) and then presented findings for everyone's benefit (see: Science & Health With Key to the Scriptures).      PREACHING IN A BAPTIST CHURCH...HEALINGS. While guest preaching in a Baptist church one time, early in her ministry, some of the congregation began to be healed of cancer and other problems right there in church. (see: Peele bio). Something was up! (also see: www.motherchurch.com and check for publications at CS Reading Rooms. Also check: www.spirituality.com for practical healing applications).        ANOTHER HEALING STORY. The other day I read where the famous poet, John Greenleaf Whittier was once very ill with pulmonary consumption. Mary Baker Eddy visited him only once, and he was healed. (see: Christian Healings p 54, Pulpit & Press, clipping from Jackson Mich., Patriot, Jan. 20, 1895).      HOW DO THE SPIRITUAL HEALERS HEAL?  I have touched on some of the methods of spiritual healing to help in excavations, but will give you a few more of my own observations and opinions.       ALL DEARLY LOVE GOD. First, they all have one thing in common.  They dearly love God.  it mentions in the Bible that there should be this love of God. "Love with all thy heart and soul."  Then, if one loves God he or she must love God's creations Man, Woman and Child.  The patient must feel this love, and that has to help.  However, the patient doesn't have to be conscious to be healed.  I went to a revival one time, and the woman preacher told how she restored her dead mother to life.  She completely threw her mind, body and soul into this restoration.  She even squirmed on the floor.  She was absolutely determined to bring her dead mother back to life....and she did!  Jesus, of course, restored the dead.  One of the great restorations was of a little girl who had been dead - about a day (see: Matthew, Chapt. 8).  He went in this room where she was lying, sat beside her and took her hand...and healed her....much to the shock of the mourners outside, who had already called in the professional funeral musicians.  Jesus was combating total negativity...all the neighbors, friends, relatives and others who thought He was bats.  He was so focused on good God, and that God would do anything He asked (in prayer), that He got in touch with the "quickening spirit" that is always there.  He always said, that "if one has the faith of a mustard seed...!"      ALL KNOW GOD/LOVE HEALS.  Once, I attended an informal church dinner and several Christian Science Practitioners were there.  The Practitioners are full time healers who have to attend a "Class" in healing.  The classes are taught by full time teachers, who are Practitioners themselves.  All undergo a lot of study and know the Bible inside and out as well as all the Bible and healing commentary and analysis of Mary Baker Eddy.  They also have access to volumes of healing articles by students down through the years.  These cover the healing of every problem you can imagine.       I was visiting in a little group of these Practitioners (I'm not a Practitioner) - they were doing most of the talking, and I the listening.  As usual I had my anthropological/writer's ears open.  It was fascinating.  They were talking about healings.  One woman Practitioner told of success healing a case of bone cancer. They don't consider such healings or any healings miracles.  Mary Baker Eddy pointed out that health is the natural way things are in God's world.      They got on the subject of what really heals, and all of them agreed that it wasn't they who did the healing, but God who did the healing.  They were emphatic about this.  They would pray for the situation knowing the true Godly picture.  Some Practitioners have offices and help in person, while some help on the phone and/or perhaps with written messages.  Sometimes they help by citing healing articles in the CS Journal or Sentinel.  They are very good teachers themselves and can explain Spiritual healing.      Again, they know that God/Love is the big healer and apply ample doses of this greatest of healing "medicines."  But, prayer is their main method.  Negative thinking and the Evil One are never given the slightest foothold.  All this and more really transports us back to the days of Jesus, the Apostles and Holy Fathers.  Then, my archaeological genes really get to jumping!            LAYING ON OF HANDS. The Bible also states that "laying on of hands" will work.  This method is used in many healing services.  It helps to have more than one or two people gathered around.  This is explained in the Scriptures.  Some denominations annoint the ill person on the forehead with oil  as part of the healing process. This is called "sealing." It insures the person will be able to carry on their spiritual work. Your writer has been "sealed."  Sometimes just a touch helps. Mary Baker Eddy tells of this.               AUDIENCE BACKUP. At the big healing services today, the entire audience is pulling for the ill person.  The patient can no doubt feel this strong "back up."  Confidence and faith in what God can do is no doubt increased.  So, with the patient primed with faith...and the healer primed with faith as is everyone else around, the percentages of healing have got to increase.  Some amazing things happened at old Pentacost when a large group of greatly inspired persons gathered.              FAITH RESERVOIR. I believe that all the healers, or any Bible lovers, have what I will call "a faith reservoir."  This reservoir has been filled up with a lifetime of experiences working with God.  They have probably been healed themselves of many problems. They have seen a lot of spiritual healing. Their faith is building.  Incidentally, many refer to this kind of healing as "faith-healing."  However, there is more involved.  Mary Baker Eddy pointed this out. She also pointed out, as mentioned earlier,  that the healings aren't really miracles, but the perfect healthy way it really is , that God created (see her Science & Health).               LOVE OF THE BIBLE. Another element that spiritual healers have in common is that they love to read the Bible...the Word of God.  This study, of course, helps build up that faith reservoir.  Also, they learn many techniques in those hallowed pages.  They learn about putting on of hands.  They learn of all the different struggles of characters in the Bible dealing with problems...some massive.   They learn of "two or more gathering in the name of Jesus."  They learn of all the people who have been healed.  They learn how to be fearless in God as did Jesus...and plunge right in to  situations.  They learn about Jesus' teachings in His "Sermon on the Mount."  These teachings are very healing.  They learn about the only prayer that Jesus handed down to His followers and us..."The Lord's Prayer."  This prayer is also very healing.  In fact, the Bible is one big healing text.  Mary Baker Eddy wrote a spiritual, commentary type analysis of The Lord's prayer that is very helpful. (See: S&H).                  SPIRITUAL CHIROPRACTIC OR OSTEOPATHY. Something I believe the Spiritual healers do is perform a sort of Spiritual "Chiropractic" or "Osteopathy,"  getting all the necessary  factors as pointed out in the Bible....lined up  with "the quickening spirit," explained by Paul.  This good Spirit is always there - within us, within every cell, but we must get lined up with it.  The better all this is lined up, the higher percentage of Spiritual healing.                 WORLDLY BLOCKAGE, AND BEWARE OF "THE LIAR." Hindering this healing process is a lot of human, negative, dogmatic, material, worldly  thinking.  "The Liar" who Jesus often had to confront, is always around today lurking in the shadows, then, jumping out when he sees a good opening, a possible weakness, and trying to sell stuff in his empty brief case.   Spiritual healers and patients have to always keep on the ball and have fencing matches with "the evil one."  We don't want to give him any power at all, but admittedly he is such a good salesman that he can sell us Bermuda Shorts in Alaska in the wintertime if we don't watch out!                  PRAYER. Another crucial element of spiritual healing is prayer.  If a spiritual healer is called in, I can guarantee that he or she will be praying.  The patient will be praying if conscious...and there are really good God things going on in the patient's subconscious if unconscious...or in the very spirit of the person.  Family and others will be praying.  There are some different kinds of prayers, but basically they are knowing that God  will heal..and ending "in the name of Jesus," as Jesus ordered.   The Christian Scientists know that if God created good..that spiritual creation  the person's true nature, is good and perfect. This is powerful medicine.   This goes along with Jesus getting the evil one "the liar" behind Him.  The Christian Scientists have full time healers called: "Practitioners."  If you are sick or having some kind of social problem and call one, they will pray for you.  But the way they pray, with much study behind them, is very powerful. They have to attend a special class on how to heal.  And, the teachers of these classes, are practitioners with much experience.      BEING VERY EMPHATIC.  The Spiritual healers are very emphatic.  They don't mess around with the dumb Evil One trying to bind the afflicted person and sell them a bill of goods from his empty briefcase.  They aren't about to put up with this balogna. Sometimes the healers are so emphatic that they will stomp their foot or pound their fist on the table.  And they will give emphatic orders.  Platoon Sergents can learn from them.  They will not give bad a break.  They slam the door right in the face of the Devil.  Jesus had to be very emphatic.  Even though He was often right in the middle of much bad, He would crowd it all out of His mind and focus on the good.  This is definitely ultimate positive thinking.          USE OF TESTIMONIALS.  The Spiritual healers like to use testimonials of healings.  There are countless written, verified testimonials in literature of various churches.  Also, some churches like to have special testimonial meetings.  People in the audience stand up and tell of their healings. These healing stories are powerful.  They build faith and understanding of how Spiritual healing works.  Sometimes there are immediate healings in the audiences from these testimonials.  I know that the Christian Scientists have wednesday evening testimonial services.  There are readings, and then people tell of their healings.  Many people have no idea that all this good is going on day and night all around the world.  The healings  are astronomical.   The Bible itself is full of verified healings.             Anyone wanting to do more research on prayer, check the spiritual TV networks, and on the web see: www.spirituality.com, and see how the healers go about this.  TV healers often pray out loud, but sometimes not.  Sometimes people watching the program out there in TV land are healed!   Most of them are praying.  Also, check out the books mentioned in this writing...especially the Bible, the greatest of all books.            Our main focus here is the New and Old Testament. We are excavating down from the present to the healing days of Jesus...and then to the healing works of Moses, who Jesus obviously studied closely, and looking at much helpful healing material inbetween (the Hebrew Temples were famous for spiritual healing...one reason no doubt the Priests were insanely jealous of consistent works of Jesus...see my series of columns: "The Physicians of Love; the story of Christian Spiritual Healing,")...and exploring some other cultures and their healing as well. The bible is one big healing story...a giant healing/spiritual pharmacopeia.         VARIED APPROACHES.  Most traditional medical healers are only operating on one and one half spiritual cylinders (if that much!) - missing a vast area of spiritual healing. And, many of their patients are going to be students of this vast area of spiritual healing of which we speak. It's interesting, some spiritual healers believe that the two methods are separate and can't really mix to be totally effective; there must be total belief. Some believe that the two can work together- that "God guides the hand of the healer" as the old saying goes. Of course, Jesus was totally spiritual, and many do go this route. But there have been great healings with the traditional medics and spiritual oriented patients working together. I personally believe if the traditional medic will only accept that there is another great method working away and actually can only help him or her - if they believe in it too and do some studying (and don't listen to old wives' tales) and aren't injecting negative vibes into the situation, it will be a big asset.  The traditional medic can ask questions, learn, even say a prayer, or do those little quickie thought prayers "desires" of which Mary Baker Eddy spoke (S&H).  All traditional medics should read Science and Health. I believe it would increase their healing percentages.....and the "physician" would "heal his or herself" too!      I have seen a medical doctor tell a patient that there is nothing else he can do for him. The next day the patient died. Just think, the infinite healing power of God was available - a great healing methodology. Really, they could have just been getting started on the healing process.  There is a tremendous amount of study that has been done and going on about which they must know.        Of much help here are your writer's nine weekly newspaper columns "The Physicians of Love; the Story of Christian Spiritual Healing." This series is what helped get my own research ball rolling. The columns were very well received locally, what with people wanting to visit in grocery stores, on the street, and with phone calls. I had no idea there was so much interest out there.  This series is constantly being updated. It was run once more in the WAS Special Pubs.            Also helpful are two of my newspaper columns about the late Pope John Paul II and what he says about Jesus' saying on fear (The Pope didn't mention, but fear is one of the big causes of illness...I'm sure he knew). John Paul was so interested in what Jesus said on fear, that he made "Be Not Afraid" by-words for his Papacy. In these columns are included some reference to his talks when visiting the U.S. one time. The PR lady at Catholic University, Washington, DC kindly sent me printed copies.  (if you would like copies of these two columns, send $5.00 and one 1st class return stamp. Ron Miller, 120 Lakewood Dr., Hollister, MO 65672).      Also, Dr. Switzer, the famed missionary to Africa, who received his M.D. degree in his 30s, had some ideas on how to heal war. (I gave his book away, and am now excavating the title).      Dr. Norman Vincent Peale had an entire chapter on spiritual healing in his famous book: "The Power of Positive Thinking."       However, I must note, that Mary Baker Eddy was far ahead of the above noted authorities re. spiritual healing research in the Bible.  She was something else!      Included in our own writings is some information on Mary Baker Eddy a minister, writer and former homeopathic physician and leader of all students in the spiritual healing area, and as explained earlier, who made some great scientific discoveries explaining how Jesus' healing methods worked - the hows, whys and wherefores. Her knowledge of the Bible was great (she caught things that had been totally missed by other students...it's truly remarkable what a spiritual approach can do).  She talked much about the difference between the Spiritual (the true) and the material...and mind (small m) and Mind (large M - God/Spirit). She had to battle many good ole' boys in an age when women were supposed to be wall ornaments or drudges and not as bright as men..let alone even brighter!! She had to make a living at the same time... very difficult at the time (and still not easy!). And many still have this jaded viewpoint of women. How could a mere woman be this intelligent in God? How could a woman get this deep into the Bible? Or be this intelligent period? It's fascinating. What she did and better than any other scholar on the subject was what scholars today would call: "applied" or "practical"  scholarship," putting the scholarship to work, and it is proven to work with countless verified healings (both physical/mental/social), so, Jesus was right on...and most fascinating of all...scientific proof that there really is a God; the methodology of Jesus (using God) works...today! By the way, this is devastating for the humanist/atheist/materialist movement that has permeated Washington D.C and the school system.         A CRITICAL STORY.  An old Ozark hillman told me one time that he was happy to have critics trying to give him the business.  He said that criticism was actually welcomed, because he knew that the criticism is giving some other poor soul a rest!  I put this in as I know that there is so much destructive invalidation going on.  See my article on invalidation in the Race and Cultural Relations Section of this site.       DON'T PICK ON AN OLD-TIME BIBLE READER. In connection with Spiritual healing, one of the classic examples of criticism is when America's famed writer Mark Twain decided to take on Mary Baker Eddy.  This was the battle of champions.  Twain, of course, was famous far and wide, America's great wit, author of classics.  Mary Baker Eddy was famous too,  having founded a global religion and large church, and also a major newspaper The CS Monitor, wrote well known publications, articles, poetry,  loved by countless people,  making monumental Bible discoveries, and helping society enormously.        So, Twain invalidated her and Christian Science in writing in his usual very literary wise way.  And Eddy responded, and as the sailors and marines would put it, "decked him" Spiritually in writing. Here was a literary lady with a vocabulary that has been reckoned up there with Charles Dickens and Shakespeare. And, of course, she knew the Scriptures backwards and forwards and inside and out coming from an old Yankee, New England Puritan religion background.  At the time she was right in there fighting for women's rights with Cady Stanton and all the others and wasn't afraid of a fight.  Today she would be on all the talk shows helping people enormously...because her solutions would all be with God and Bible....helping in a ministerial, practical ,down home, New England way.  She was sharp as a tack in God.          It's interesting, today the humanist/atheist movement cites the publication where Mark Twain puts down Mary Baker Eddy, but they never cite her demolishing reply.  This would be hillarious if it were not for the fact that the humanists have brain-washed so many people.        I believe this tit and tat between Twain and Eddy would make a great Broadway play. I can visualize the stage with a split down the center.  On one side is Mark Twain at his desk, with his ill wife nearby in bed.  He was really desperate to try anything to help her, and not much was helping.  I think he was striking out in agony...and I believe Eddy knew this. On the other side of the partition would be Eddy in her famous rocking chair.  Her  Secretary Fry, carrying newspapers of the day, would come in and out reporting on say her battles with not only Twain but none other than the mighty Joseph Pulitizer, king of the hill,  who had also attacked her, (really despized her..a massive ego  in the powerful word business who couldn't have a mere woman around also in the word business and highly intellectual) and who she  defeated decisively and put on the inglorious run. One never hears much about these adventures, if at all, a woman dealing soundly with attacks on the national stage!. As mentioned earlier, critics have a hard time criticising Love, Life and all the other good Spiritual things.  But, how dare a mere woman be this intelligent and stand up to and defeat Titans!  Barnum and Bailey's circus was just a little Toby Show compared to this "Greatest Spiritual Show on Earth,." right out there before the American public in newspapers. Then, of course, Mary Baker Eddy would found her own newspaper (at age 86) to get the real Truth out there.  She wasn't limited as her God wasn't limited!  She was a very patriotic, Yankee Doodle Dandy, from an old line conservative New England church when a girl...and now armed with ultimate Spiritual thinking, and wasn't about to put up with non-god, non-Bible stuff.       More on a side study to help show the power of mind. The ancient Greeks healed spiritually as mentioned earlier. The Greek people knew all about the healers Asklepios, Apollo (father of Asklepios and a great healer himself, although usually too busy to practice), Chiron (a centaur, and the most learned centaur and teacher of medical things to Asklepios), Epione (wife of Asklepios, and famous for easing pain), and the daughters of Asklepios, especially Panacea and Healing, and also their sons who were healers. I tell about some spiritual aspects in a story: The Eerie Masks of the Asklepion (it first appeared as a column in the above mentioned newspaper series, The Physicians of Love). Also, these characters appear in a new collection of my healing stories: "Hope & the Healers of Mt. Pelion" WAS Special Publication, No. 17. I use these characters to introduce readers to who they consider the greatest of the healers - Jesus (He used no materia medica...and healed everything).   I also illustrated this publication. Again, as usual, make checks or money orders out to Ron Miller, - 120 Lakewood Dr. Hollister, MO 65672).  I'm working on a revision as I speak, so, it may take a while to get there.      THE GNOSTICS.  The old Gnostics are interesting to study in connection with spiritual healing. Gnostic means "to know." There were many different Gnostic movements.  Some had a little bit of the Bible about them, while others drifted far out into space.  And some believed in healing.  One wonders just how successful they were at this.  Lots of research to be done here.  The Christian denominations today that believe in Spiritual healing  believe in the total Bible picture with some  differences here and there, but for the most part are right on with the Bible.  The Gnostics though really got far afield.  Nevertheless, if possible, they would be interesting to study.  Check their methods.  Is it possible to determine their percentages of healing?  They might have hit on some things that would help heal?  The old Church Fathers battled those movements frantically, and it appears they finally got the upper hand.   I have heard of there even being a Jewish Gnostic movement in antiquity.  That would be interesting also.  It would be easy to put all the Gnostics in the fringe crackpot category and ignore.  But since your writer hates to miss anything, I would say keep an open mind.  Too much has been missed in archaeology by closed minds.         SPIRITUAL HEALING RESEARCH Is  very unique. You won't find much like it out there. The traditional medical/drug, material thinking is all powerful in most minds. It rules the media, making millions sick. It rules Washington. Meanwhile, citizens are missing out, trapped and wallets depleted. And we now have a miserable sickocracy. Big drug empires, insurance empires, medical empires, cold, are all-powerful dieties. Greedocracy is the religion (breaking the First Commandment!). Devotees by the millions bow to their priests, the very same as ancient priests of Thebes. How about some ads on Truth, Spirit, Love and Jesus healing with no materia medica...and healing every medical problem brought before him...for three years!? Why not show people how great preventive Spiritual healing is. Doesn't cost a dime! Why put up with the negative, sickening, material balogna on the tube?  This has got to be driving medical healers bats also.  I can just see millions of brain-washed viewers going into their primary care physician's office and inquiring about some pill that they said on TV would heal them, although they did say it might kill them (programmed FEAR...much psychology is studied preparing these TV ads. Freud wrote much on fear of death. However, Jesus solved the fear of death problem 2,000 years ago "Death, where is thy sting!").  Fear of death will surely will get TV viewers to moving....and buying!!  It's a jungle out there, beware!  The Liar has come out of the shadows for he definitely sees a BIG opening (the TV screen!).      As usual, and fortunately, the Bible to the rescue. The Baptist minister Henry Halley called the Bible "the Old Anvil" and said: "It has worn out many a hammer of criticism down through the ages but just goes right on helping people."          HELPFUL STUDIES:   One reason we like the study of Spiritual healing here at the WAS is because we like practical archaeology...putting the studies of antiquity/anthropology/art to work today. This subject is the best "dig" yet. Lot's of misery out there that can be healed spiritually - and not just medical problems. And, it's cheap. There are some other articles there on various money problems. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -      Everybody is important. Look at the "widow's mite," story in the bible. The late Doc Good, Pres. of the College of the Ozarks who brought the school thru the depression said that every "little" contribution was important. Once he received a contribution of 5 cents from a lady. He treated her just the same as any other contributor. He sent her the usual poems, letter, good thoughts. Many years later she donated a house to the school!!      Today the big shots were thinking only of themselves, not the little guys and gals down there. In a democracy the so-called "little guys and gals" are really the "Big guys and gals." Unfortunately, "power corrupts" as the old Athenians said. But, even the Athenians would forget their gods and go down the tube.       Doc Good read his bible every day and prayed much. He had a lot on his shoulders - all those students from less -than- well- to- do- families - and everything was scarce. He would get out in the field and help them pick green beans, and the next day walk into the office of the President of John Deere and ask for a tractor...and receive it!!!        Doc was bold in Christ! And, by the way, he also had a great sense of humor. That's a wonderful help in hard times.        If you need a great boost in hard times, you can get some very helpful publications at Christian Science Reading Rooms...a great stop. These are very peaceful helpful places. You can feel the God-Love. With this method I get to excavate our WAS Information Center library that has one special section on Bible things (see the section on biblical archaeology with information. about our Bible library among other things, on this site).   I've noticed a phenomenon. Every single problem that can be brought up in connection with Anthropology - the study of Man - has its answer in the Scriptures. Most text books and journals just state problems - not answers.  The old Scriptures are so powerful that they just force their way into all these subjects.  It constantly amazes me.      The story: "The Spiritual Healers of Galilee."
